Have you ever been changed or moved by some sort of event? Sometimes it moves you emotionally or it causes you to think about it all of the time. In “The Diary Of Anne Frank”, (the drama) characters are easily affected when their life is slowly turning upside down. You will learn about how historical events in “The Diary Of Anne Frank” have affected the play. Such as the relationships between characters and the mood affect on the act.
First off, the historical events in the play have affected the mood in the act. “Right here in Amsterdam every day hundreds of Jews disappear.” (Page 130, Hackett). This affected the mood in the act because the suspense was very high and you could tell that all of the characters were shocked by the news. “(Mrs Frank) Oh, no. No!” (Page 130, Hackett). This states that the event was a huge mood change from what they have felt before. They are now more aware and terrified than steady and comfortable. Though this event has

“(Miep) The invasion has begun!” (Page 179, Hackett). Since everyone heard the news about how they may be rescued, they finally have something to be happy about. Though the times in the Annex have been rough, they are getting to a point where they all have something in common, they all are happy and thankful for this event. “(Anne) Oh, mother, I was. I was awful.” (Page 181, Hackett). “(Mrs. Frank) We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of.” (Page 181, Hackett). “(Mr. Dussel) Stop it now! Let’s be happy!” (Page 181, Hackett). This supports why historical events have changed the relationships between characters because, after Miep brings the news, everyone is forgiving each other. They all changed their relationships with one another by being thankful instead of frustrated. Throughout “The Diary Of Anne Frank” all of the characters were moved in in different ways by events during their time in
Staying in an annex for two years without going outside may have been uncomfortable, but it gave everyone a better chance at survival. Character interaction, stage directions, and Anne’s diary are three significant ways historical events are portrayed in The Diary of Anne Frank. This play shows the reader that history can be written in many different
In the popular book and story of Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl there are many themes present throughout her journal. It’s a touching piece of literature that puts things into perspective about family, warfare, loneliness, and selfishness. Her diary gives insight about people who are actually living in those circumstances from Anne’s point of view, resulting in a more factual story than fictional novels loosely based on true events. Anne goes through a lot during her time in the Annex, including tense arguments with her family, bombings, thieves, Peter, and Dussel moving in. The events may not seem like that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but to a young girl, it’s a huge change of events. It shows a lot from her in the way she acts, Anne’s selfishness proving that stress and war can change people to be more selfish.
Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party killed millions of people in the short time of six years during World War II. Other people, such as Anne Frank and her family, tried to avoid the cruel intentions of the Nazis by hiding in an annex for two years. The historical events of World War II affected the lives of Anne and the others hiding in the annex. Historical events in The Diary of Anne Frank causes extensive changes to the drama. Two primary changes that occur due to historical events are the character’s traits and the mood of the drama.
Adolf Hitler was a horrible man, and he made Jew's lives horrible. Killing and torturing more than 6 million, just because they’re Jewish. The drama by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett shows that Anne Frank and 7 others crammed themselves into a secret annex building for 25 months straight. Little did they know, their few month hiding place became a few year hiding place. Hiding from the Nazis, the 8 always lived in faltering hope that the Allied Forces would come and save them from Hitler’s reign of terror. The historical events in The Diary of Anne Frank changed the behaviors of the characters as well as the relationships between characters.
The Play of the Diary of Anne Frank starts out in the annex in the warehouse in Amsterdam, Holland where Anne Frank and seven others hid out during World War II. It opens with Otto Frank and Miep Gies standing in the annex alone in 1945. Mr. Frank had just come home from the concentration camps, being the one survivor from the annex. After conversing for awhile, Miep hands Mr. Frank Anne’s diary from the days of living in the annex. He starts to read the book, as it slowly flashes back to 1942 when it all began…
Many, many people suffered during the Holocaust war. The Jews in particular were in grave danger. The drama ‘Anne Frank’ outlines so many ways that this historical event caused a shift in the mood of the characters and their relationships. Before the Holocaust, Anne Frank was just an ordinary Jewish girl living in Germany. A German leader named Adolf Hitler developed a plan to destroy the Jews and to rule over the specific places where they lived. What Hitler did to these poor Jews, and the sheer terror they endured at the hands of this Nazi leader is purely unfathomable.
There are many ways historical events changed the drama, the diary of Anne Frank. Two major ways that changed it were the changes in the mood and relationships throughout the drama. The mood of the story changed when the Franks and the others were in the annex and they heard marching feet on the street below, which caused them to go into a sort of panic
The author of the Anne Frank play includes a number of details on how Anne changes from an annoying girl to a loving and caring person. When WW2 broke out, the Franks, Van Daans, and Mr. Dussel move into a secret Annex in order to avoid capture by the Nazis. They lived together in the Annex for about two years. During these two years, many of the people living in there has gone through some dramatic changes, such as Anne. During the first year in the Annex, Anne is disrespectful and defiant against her mother and Mr. Van Daan. During the second year, Anne understands that her mother was trying to help her, not annoy her. Anne has gone through puberty and has a liking towards Peter. Anne also starts wanting privacy as she starts having secrets. Peter notices that there is a change in Anne as she turns from a noisy girl to a quiet one. Anne’s maturity also shows when she tries to be more optimistic about the world.
One historical event that impacted the mood in a serious way, was when they were all arguing and mad with each other, and then Miep rushes in and tells them some good news. Before they found out the news Mr.VanDaan got caught stealing food. Mrs.Franks response was, “No! No! No more talk! I want them to leave!” Hackett page 177. They all thought it was rats, but they soon found out it was Mr.VanDaan. Mrs.Frank couldn’t handle it anymore so she want the VanDaan family out. Right after that Miep comes rushing up to tell them that the invasion has indeed begun. “Did you hear that everybody? Did you hear what i said? The invasion has begun! The invasion!” Hackett page 179. They were all so surprised and consequently they forgot what they were arguing
During the holocaust most worried for themselves but some risked their lives for others. In the play Diary of Anne Frank by frances goodrich and albert hackett the franks van daans and the people that helped them show many positive traits. The families lived together and did not always get along but they ended up living together for two and a half years. Mr.kralear exemplified selflessness when taking in seven people and taking over mr frank's business
Have you ever heard about the amazing story of a young girl named Anne Frank. There were many people who lived in the Annex like Mr. Frank and Anne. This play was about a hiding place to escape the Nazi’s in 1942 and was a place where 8 people had to spend 2 and one half years waiting to be rescued this play was written by Goodrich and Hackett. This was a time where many people had showed courage to hold on to hope that they and their families will survive.
The first character I chose to analyze was Anne Frank. She is a loving, joyful and energetic young girl in her 14, in the play. She is the sister of Margot Frank and the second and last offspring of the Franks. She wore a pole and a skirt, from what I can see in pictures. She changed a lot throughout the play, when she first got into the annex she was always in someone’s business and was wanting to know eveything. When she left she was a little more quiet and want to learn more important things like education and how to end a war without a life being lost for it.
Changes happen to all of us. The change may be good or it may be bad. We all experience changes and the changes reflect how we think, act, or talk in society. Every change is different and every change has different outcomes. In The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank change quite a lot throughout the story. She was very different from everyone else who hid with her in the annex, in good ways and bad ways. As she grows, she changes her personality, her mentality, and, most importantly, her emotions. She wanted to be respected and didn’t want to cause trouble, even though she did. As time went by, she started to change her emotions and felt more empathy.
Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.
One of the ways that the historical events happening outside of the annex impacted the play/movie was that the mood changes. It is shown by the quote “[Rising] Mr. Van Daan, you don’t realize what is happening outside that you should warn me of a thing like that. You don’t realize what’s going on…[As Mr. Van Daan starts his characteristic pacing, Dussel turns to speak to the others.] Right here in Amsterdam everyday hundreds of Jews disappear… They surround a block and search house by house. Children come home from school to find their parents gone. Hundreds are being deported… people that you and I know… the Hallensteins… the Wessels...” (Dussel pg. 130) because it shows that the characters are upset about this happening. Anne gets more upset because in the quote “[Coming to Dussel] Do you know the de Waals?... What’s
