In the novella “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, there are two guys named George and Lennie. They were friends for a very long time and stood by each other. Some people may argue that George was a bad friend to Lennie but I believe that he was a good friend. Friends aren’t perfect, they will mess up. Just because George messed up and made questionable actions towards Lennie, that doesn’t make him a bad friend. You will not find a friend that has never done wrong by you.
In Of Mice and Men, George was right to kill Lennie. In the novel, Lennie killed a mouse, a puppy, and a woman. Lennie could have been charged with rape on two separate occasions. In Weed, Lennie grabbed a woman and ripped a part of her clothes off. At the farm, in the barn, Lennie stroked her hair and accidentally killed her. George killed Lennie, because Candy told George he wished he would have shot his own dog, Lennie killed Curley’s wife, the puppie, and the mouse, and the lynch mob would have done worse things to Lennie.

Both Lennie and George would be nothing without each other. Steinbeck clearly shows how important friends are and how they can support and help you in a number of different ways. Lennie needs George for basic survival and without him, Lennie’s life would not be very long. George on the other hand, needs Lennie for a purpose in life. The conclusion of the novel Of Mice and Men illustrates what life would be like for George and Lennie without the other.
Lennie would not get in trouble again or forget what he has to do. For
The author John Steinbeck presents the relationship between the two characters, George and Lennie in different ways as they are both different characters and have different personalities. He presents it like a parent and child relationship, with George being the parent and Lennie the child.
During the Great Depression, the Western United States was a bleak and dreary place. Much of the working population at the time were migrant workers, who worked as farmhands for wealthier farm owners. These migrant workers often suffered from terrible working conditions, and horrendously low wages. As George and Lennie drift from job to job in search of liveable conditions and steady pay, they experience the cruel reality that moving up in society is near impossible. Even when George manages to find stable occupations for he and Lennie, Lennie seems to inevitably cause a disturbance, forcing them to abscond immediately. With the strength of an ox, but the mind of a child, Lennie is an oblivious destroyer, who gets little sympathy from

What does relationship really mean? Relationship mean the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected. In the novel, “Of Mice and Men”, by John Steinbeck, the main focus is on George and Lennie. These two gentlemen have a bond like no other. George is skinny, short, and a little older, but Lennie is tall, big, and a little younger than George. These two workmen travel together, because Lennie’s aunt asked george to take care of him. Lennie’s Aunt Clara asked George to take him, because Lennie is mentally challenged, and forgetful. At times George would get so mad at Lennie, for making them have to go from ranch to ranch. During their gallivant to different ranches, Lennie was unaware of his own strength. Although, they meet others along the way. Thus, Lennie and George were left with each other on their journey, though it was not always pleasant.
“I ought to of shot that dog myself, George. I shouldn’t ought to of let no stranger shoot my dog.” (Steinbeck pg 61) Steinbeck included this quote to foreshadow that George was going to shoot Lennie. It also helps justifies his reasoning for shooting him because George was not going to let a stranger kill Lennie. Lennie was a strong and useful man when it came to work, but he had the mind of a child. He could not survive without George because he did not understand what was to far and, was always getting into trouble without even knowing it. Near the end of the book, Lennie, in bewilderment, accidently killed Mr. Curley’s wife. After that incident, George knew that if he did not kill Lennie then he would suffer. So, even though some say George did not make the right decision by killing Lennie, it was the better option because prison life would
A life is very precious and valuable, and taking away one's life is viewed by many as a crime and violation of human rights. However, under certain circumstances, the taking of someone's life may be viewed as acceptable. When one is in great pain or danger, and could no longer benefit from living, killing them might be the best option for them. This is the case in Of Mice and Men a fiction novel by John Steinbeck. In the book, Steinbeck tells the story of two good friends, George and Lennie, who travel around as ranch workers during The Great Depression. After Lennie commits an accidental murder, George finds Lennie and kills him. George kills Lennie because he knows Lennie’s
George’s inability to control Lennie leads to unfortunate events throughout the novel. In the first place, it is nearly impossible for George to keep Lennie from letting go of things when he gets nervous; like how George had to hit Lennie with a fence post in Weed to get him to let go. This inability to control Lennie’s grip unfortunately leads to Lennie accidently killing his new co-worker Curley’s wife. Not only can George not control Lennie from letting go of things, but George cannot keep Lennie from doing things he is not supposed to either. On the way to their new job, Lennie will not stop petting a mouse in his pocket. George tells him that he cannot keep petting animals like that because when Lennie does his strong hands kill the small
Imagine someone very close to you and ask yourself what you would be willing to do to help them. When that person’s way of life is threatened to come to a very violent end or to continue in a way of almost torture, would you want them to go on accepting their fate or grant them peace from suffering? In John Steinbeck’s heartbreaking novel Of Mice and Men, George Milton and Lennie Small are a couple of friends who travel together escaping the law. When Lennie accidentally kills the wife of the farm owner’s son, Curley, Lennie is put into a rough situation and must face his actions. Instead of allowing Lennie to be killed violently by Curley and his men or rot in jail, George takes matters into his own hands and “mercy kills” Lennie in the same place the book starts. Some may say that this killing was ruthless and unnecessary, however George’s decision to kill Lennie was justified.
