Due to recent changes in law I believe there is a visible shift to the adaptability culture, where Hospital A and other similar organizations are less focused on things like awards, or titles but are focusing more on the multitude of customer feedback. Many hospitals have started providing their patients with surveys that then directly relate back to changes that are implemented. At times the result of the surveys directly affected the amount and type of pay the organization could receive from government sources. This allows the organization to adapt to the needs of the external environment. This type of organization has in a small way always used the adaptability culture due to the fast response and high-risk decision making model that is the bases for the organization, however some organizations are failing to meet the changing expectations from patients and are therefore loosing profits and finding hard finical times.
Thus, it was difficult to keep the motivation to pursue a change in a new career despite my negative health experience in Cameroon. Lack of motivation is a fundamental barrier to change according to NHS (2007). This is because external factors can drive motivation and change behavior such as incentives (for example, wage increase, or penalties). In my case, the decision for change was made difficult by annual salary increase, which progressed my career pursuit in the legal field as opposed to starting all over in a new field.

Access to health care means having "the timely use of personal health services to achieve the best health outcomes" (IOM, 1993). Also, as technology changes, such as the change from the paper medical record to the EMR, health care organizations have to adopt these changes to improve patient safety. Adaptability is a critical quality as a health professional; they may encounter different scenarios and sudden changes in the work environment. Health professionals need to be flexible and open-minded through challenging issues and be able to cope through unexpected events (Al-Abri, 2007) It was evident that I am not open minded as I had not directly spoken to the staff before the incident and had forced myself into this situation in losing faith in myself. Adaptability also means preparing alternative options and be open to discussion with people if an uneventful situations occur (Al-Abri, 2007).
Every healthcare professional is bound to encounter ethical dilemmas in his or her day to day practice. For this reason, a number of ethical theories have been developed in the past to not only guide our decision making but to also inform out thinking. In this text, I make use of both the relevant literature and my understanding of ethical theories to explore whether the need to acquire knowledge should be granted priority over the legal requirement of consent to healthcare research.
