What does being a good citizen exactly mean? There are many factors that will affect if someone is viewed as a one. Being considered a good citizen will depend on the country as every country is unique and sees some aspects differently compared to others. The United States of America and China share similarities and differences through their preamble, constitution, and citizenship. Similarly, these countries use their preamble to create a broad proposal of what a good citizen is. Both serve as a guide for what will be discussed in their constitution as well. In addition to this each preamble has a part that explains where consent is derived from. Comparably they both proclaim that the power comes from the people. The United States express the “We the People of the United States” statement, whereas China claims that “All power in the People's Republic of China belongs to the people.” These words are proof to both countries claim to be a democracy. A functioning democracy is the form of government that provides its citizens with lots of freedom, opportunity, and prosperity. Although there are several similarities, differences can be found in the format or structure of the preambles. The United States preamble is significantly smaller compared to China’s.
