Hinduism is one big family of beliefs that unites the worship of many gods with a belief in a single divine reality. Hinduism does not have an identifiable founder nor a structure in place to defend it and spread its guidance, or a creed to steady its beliefs. At first many of its teachings and scriptures were passed down orally but eventually, were written down for all to cherish. In Christianity we find that Jesus is the originator of this religion, and is purely a missionary religion. Traveling and branching out to as many people as possible to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ. Also, in similar sense there are many denominations within the religion that have different teachings but all usually lead to the same result, reaching heaven and living eternally with Christ himself.

The most common deities prayed to would be the three in the Trimurti. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva and represent the forces of creation, preservation, and destruction. Hinduism is a religion practiced all over the world and has gained a large following. Hinduism got its start in the Indus Valley civilization and since then has evolved into a open and tolerant religion upon which every and anybody from all walks of life are welcome. In Hinduism there is a divine reality which can best be described as all reality is ultimately one for monistic Hindus or that there is no distinction between the divine reality and the rest of reality for dualistic Hindus. Either way it is put Hindus try to understand divine reality through their different gods, images, nature, and avatars.

Judaism was founded by a wealthy leader named Abraham (Hutchinson, 2017b). Yahweh (God) appeared to Abraham and told him that he would bless his people if they “obeyed and worshipped Him” (Hutchinson, 2017b). At this time, the Hebrew people were polytheistic, meaning they believed in many different gods. Over time, the Hebrews began to realize God would make a way for them every time they faced hardships. This made them monotheistic, and they began to follow only the supreme God (Hutchinson, 2017a). Hinduism was not founded by one specific person or people. Hindus have the option to worship one god, many gods, or even none at all (Levinson, 2017). To Hindus, it is more important to perform rituals and stay true to the old traditions that have been passed down from their ancestors (Levinson, 2017). There are gods that Hindus worship, but only worshipping and not keeping alive the old traditions means nothing.
Both of the religions Hinduism and Judaism are similar but different in their own ways. Hinduism worships many gods and goddesses, whereas Judaism is a confirmedly monotheistic religion. In the Hinduism religion the bedrock is the belief that the Vedas is sacred and the caste system decribed in it. “Hinduism is a guide to life, and the goal of which is to reach union with Brahman, the unchanging ultimate reality”(75). The dharma or moral law that need to be followed. There are many gods that were worshiped and each person may worship a different god. Images of the gods in homes or temples were presented where each person can show devotion to their personal gods by singing hymns or offering flowers before the images. The Hindus believe in many things such as that the universe undergoes and endless cycle of creation, believe in karma, that the soul reincarnates, the belief that all life is sacred.

It is not easy defining Hinduism for it has boundless assortments of practices and beliefs found within it. To make this religion a bit more of a mystery, Hinduism does not have a set founder, a particular scripture, or a set teaching. The religion believes itself to be timeless and having existed. There are many prime individuals teaching different philosophies that have extended throughout Hinduism’s history.

The Hindu lifestyle is based on various religious movements over time, this has led to numerous branches or subsets of Hinduism. Some of these groups may even consider their group a religion unto itself. In contrast with the Bible and Buddhism, Hinduism is not based upon any religious text or scriptures . Hinduism contains influences across various cultures, such as tribal and many folk traditions as well. Hinduism and Islam are two of the world’s great religions however, they differ in many regards including their beliefs in god, their ethical beliefs and the afterlife in fact, it would be quite difficult to find to two religions more different then Islam and Hinduism. One major difference is in their belief in god, Muslims are steadfastly monotheistic where Hindus are very much polytheistic. Another key difference is their views on the afterlife Hindus believe in reincarnation, whereas Muslims believe in a heaven and a hell with the faithful going to heaven and the evil going to hell.
