In the book Everything I Never Told You, there are many different elements and techniques used within the book. The technique that I want to go into more depth on is the use of symbolism. I specifically want to focus on the symbolism in regards to Lydia, Hannah, and Nath’s love of astronauts and space.

He’s ready to play on Sunday he loves the game of football so much. The reason why it’s so important to have Sean Lee back on the field because he finds ways to create turnovers for this defense when he’s on the field. Cowboys moved Lee to weak side linebacker to help save all the wear and tear on his body from taking on linebackers from the middle linebacker position. This position might be best for Lee because he’s able to find the football and go make the tackle. Lee’s instincts is off the charts the way he study’s film he pays attention the formations the
Quote 1: Throughout the entire essay, Annie Dillard states that the ultimate way one should strive to act is like a “wild” weasel. Dillard emphasizes in order to achieve our final goal, through our actions we should act “mindlessly.” Ironically she promotes the characteristic of “mindlessness,” while our main function is to use logic to justify our acts. However, Dillard suggests that we should live by using our instincts rather than our intellect to avoid prejudice. She claims that we should thoughtlessly go about our life avoiding choices. Contrary to what Dillard believes, it is crucial to reflect on every decision one makes.

Assuming the office of chief Superintendent of Education in Upper Canada, Egerton immediately swung into action as he continued to make countless creative, as well as, extensive changes targeted to remodelling the Upper Canada school system whose general control of the school was within his jurisdiction- the Chief Superintendent. Egerton had the prerogative to “set standards for the curriculum; supervised the training, inspection and examination of teachers; and oversaw the selection and distribution of textbooks, through a central depository and press plant which encouraged the publication of works by home-grown authors. Libraries were organized in every school”. (Claude W.D, 2002, para 7)
Ever since Hunter Jordan died, Ruth and James were heavily affected. In order to combat this, they both use different ways to grieve over his death. To begin, Ruth, James’ mother, rides her bike to grieve for her husbands death. To show proof, James says, “She would ride in slow motion across our street… It was her way of grieving,” (7). As one can see James believes his mother rides her bicycle to grieve for her deceased husband. In addition, James also notes, “it was something [the bike] my stepfather found on the street in Brooklyn and hauled home a few months before he died.” (5). To explain, James says that his stepfather found the bike and brought it to Ruth a few months before he died, so Ruth uses it to remind her of her husband. Furthermore, another way Ruth grieves is in church. James says, “she would occasionally do something in church that I never saw her do at home… she would bow down her head and weep.” (50). As one can see, Ruth cries in church to grieve for her husband because if her kids see her, they would think she is crying because God makes her happy.

I thought they were happy to see me, but when I opened the door to our shack, I saw that everything we owned was neatly packed in cardboard boxes. I was shocked! We were moving? Since when? I walked further into our shack and saw Roberto and Papa carrying boxes to the Carcanchita. I then saw Mama holding her pot walking over to the Carcanchita very carefully trying her best to not step on one of my younger sibling’s toys.
I am the first college student in my family, first generation I guess you could call it. In fact, I am the first of my family to "get out" as they put it. Most of my family live within 10 miles of each other and few have been more than a 3-hour drive away from their home. I don't believe much was expected of me growing up. I didn't graduate with honors, and I would have been hard pressed to have found a single adviser who would have saw me going to a wonderful school like Texas A&M. I grew up assuming that like my father and his father before him that I would serve in the military. I did serve for a while in the army, 8 years to be exact and that’s where I found myself. As an army medic you are expected to processes many inputs at once, and
We Tell Stories is talks about stories of our ancestors and our traditions. The book “Borderlands” by Anzaldua shows that traditions can be easily broken in order to fight for one’s future. If no one is supporting that decision, it is essential that people continue with their gut feeling. In the book “borderlands”, Anzaldua stated that if breaking traditions is the correct decision, then people should follow that decision. At the end of the day, the correct decision is going to be yours and it is your future. When people are forced to do certain things, they end up hating that decision and resent the person that forced them to take that decision. Traditions are very old and sometimes old does not mix well with modern
