Bargh, Mark Chen, and Lara Burrows of New York University provides an experiment analyzing that behaviour through an experiment which will form the basis of critique in this paper. Background of the experiment For decades social psychologists have scrutinized the impact of priming on an individual's behaviour. "Priming" indicates to the trigger of certain traits by controlling environmental factors. Recent studies have surfaced the finding that a desired behaviour can be brought about in an individual by the mere presence of relevant situational factors .The extent to which a person has control over his or her emotions is still under a lot of scrutiny. However it is proven through numerous studies carried out by many researchers that many of the behaviour brought about by an individual are voluntary in nature.
