Charismatic leaders have been the boon and the bane of humanity for as long as recorded human history illustrates. Most people agree that charisma can be a double-edged sword capable of producing both positive and negative outcomes. (Lussier, Achua, 20216) This is where we as humans wonder about our existence. We lead and we are led. Some successes are recorded while many failures fall by the wayside. Still, there are some successes we would rather not have experienced. There is a game which children have played over the years. The game is aptly named, “Would You Rather”. In this game, one asks the group, “Would you rather meet your demise by …?” The choices are generally between two equally horrific or disgusting ways your life might …show more content…
The assigned value to each leader is directly linked to the values instilled in or owned by the beholder. Magnificence is esteemed in saving other humans from a demise such as death. We may presume that Oskar Schindler is a hero. This was established by Schindler risking his life, liberty, and property to save as many Jewish people as he could from the horrors of genocide during World War II. Although, when we further look into his life, he was a human with his human frailties some might consider sins. We learn that Schindler did not actually create a list as was made popular in the movie directed by Steven Spielberg. “Instead, Marcel Goldberg, a Jewish “clerk” assigned to the new Plaszow commandant Arnold Buscher, played the largest role in compiling the transport list. It is generally agreed that Buscher, an SS officer, “could not have cared, within certain numerical limits, who went on the list,” according to Thomas Keneally. It’s also agreed that Goldberg engaged in a certain amount of corruption in who he added to the list and, moreover, that there was not even one “list” but rather different lists that emerged over a series of months.” (Anderson, 2014) Contrary to popular beliefs, Schindler was an ordinary business man who, being at the right time and right place in history, evolved from having monetary interests, into the interest of saving Jewish people from the horrors of the concentration camps. As we consider the greatness of saving human
Oskar Schindler’s identity drastically changes from the beginning to the end of the movie. At first, Schindler was a greedy, selfish, and rich man, who was a member of the Nazi party and profited from the war. He also was a womanizer who constantly cheated on his wife. He only cared about making money and he only hired Jewish workers because they were cheaper. He saved his workers initially because he did not want to pay to train other workers and protected them since he believed that their welfare impacted his business. He saw Jewish people differently than other Germans, he saw them as workers, and he inadvertently developed a reputation for kindness. He did not do this at first to be a

Oskar Schindler was not one to pass up an opportunity to make some money. He marched into Poland with the SS and dove head first into the black market. He soon began to make friends with the Gestapo, the secret state police, by softening them up with women, money and alcohol. His newfound connections helped him to acquire a factory, which he ran with the cheapest labor around, Jews. At first, it seemed like he was another German money-driven industrialist but somewhere along the way something changed.
To think that this self centred man would become known for a shining moment of salvation for so many is almost beyond belief. Oskar Schindler is not a humanitarian or a force for ?good? in the typical sense. He is depicted within the film as a man that simply found himself in a unique position and rose to the occasion. Evil on the other hand, is epitomised throughout the film by the actions of those involved in the Nazi regime, in particular Amon Goeth who was in charge of the forced labour camp at Plaszow.
Oskar Schindler was a true hero during World War II. He risked life and limb for people he did not even meet before. He saved his accountant Itzhak Stern from death and Itzhak helped change his views and help save the Jews. Oskar Schindler saved over a thousand Jews from subsequently being sent to the gas chambers and he gave them food and work. Not a single S.S. officer got suspicious because they knew that the Jews would be working for a German cause, but on the contrary, they did not know that they were being treated affectionately and compassionately. Overall we believe that Oskar Schindler was a source of optimism and expectancy for the Jewish people. Oskar Schindler was the Moses of
Oskar Schindler helped many jews survive the holocaust and he also helped many jews start new lives away from Germany. Oskar took at least 900 Jews from the Plazow death camp and made them work in his factory where they would be safe from the Nazi’s. Oskar at first was with the Germans and their attempts to get rid of all the jews but when he saw the cruel things that they did to the jews he had a change of heart. So when he took in the jews to his factory his workers began manufacturing defective ammunition for the Germans. Oskar helped many jews avoid death and instead kept them in a place where they would be safe.
In the beginning of the film, Oskar Schindler is a man who is intrigued by anyway to make money. In the past, he has mostly been a failed businessman who is extremely persistent and will stop at nothing to become a profiteer. Schindler however, has an idea, unlike any idea he has ever had in the past. In the beginning of the film, he bribes and communicates with many German officials just as the war is beginning so he can gain access to jews and their free labor. He is an exceptionally greedy man who will abuse his power and social status to make money even if it’s through the blood, sweat, and tears of other individuals. At the beginning of the film, Schindler proclaims, “In every business I tried, I can see now, it wasn't me that failed. Something was missing.” He expresses that the reason for his success in his newly found business can be credited to war. This quote clearly indicates his extreme desire for wealth. However, over time he begins to adjust and modify his behaviors as a result of his friendship with a Jewish man named Itzhak Stern, who also is a manager of his business. As time goes on he begins to protect his workers and save them from concentration camps proclaiming that they are “essential workers” for the war effort. Schindler has now begun to understand that jews
Schindler was the man who the jews relied on because he would make sure the Germans did not harm them or kill them. Schindler made a difference in history by finding ways for him to trade the Jews over to him so they wouldn’t have suffered. In my opinion I think he made a difference because people to this day still remember Schindler for becoming friends with the Germans and his plan was to become rich with no danger. The most things he did that made a huge difference in history was making the Germans give the Jews to him and having the opportunity to ask for them with his list. He did the best he could by getting workers but he was not satisfied, but if you think about it he had a good amount of the workers so he changed people's lives by helping the Jews survive longer.
Oskar Schindler was a hero in World War II. He endured many conflicts. The main battle he faced was during World War II. During World War II, Oskar Schindler was a German businessman who saved Jews in Poland and Czechoslovakia from death by employing them in his factory (“Oskar Schindler” 362).
Schindler decided to buy his workers while bribing the Nazi, at least this way he could save some of them, even though this decision costed him to spend his fortune but he had the good feeling that he was saving lives. He was able to save over 1200 Polish-Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. After the war is over and he is escaping that night with his wife, he feels sad and sorry that he did not
Oskar Schindler is considered an amazing hero of the Holocaust and is noteworthy because he rescued a lot of Jews, changed his Nazi beliefs, and was recognized by the state of Israel as one of the “Righteous Among the Nation.” He was a German industrialist who had such a huge impact on modern society, he protected the jews from the wrath of the Nazi Party and preserved generation of Jewish families.

Oskar Schindler faced many conflicts in his life. The main conflict he faced was overcoming the Nazis and saving over one thousand Jewish People. Schindler, with out a job at the time, joined the Nazi Party and followed on the heels of the SS when the Germans invaded Poland. This is when Schindler took over two previously Jewish owned companies that dealt with the manufacture and sales of enamel kitchenware products and opened up his own enamel shop right outside of Krakow near the Jewish ghetto. There, he employed mostly Jewish workers, which saved them from being deported to labor camps. Though twice the Gestapo arrested him, he got released because of his many connections and with many bribes. Most
[War] brings out the worst in people. Never the good, always the bad. Even in the midst the devastation of a national genocide, where one race turned against another in hate, good people existed and worked to counteract the hate through love and compassion. Oskar Schindler was one of these people. World War II provided him the means to become a very wealthy and powerful man, yet he did not exploit the Jews like many other businessmen during his time. He used his money and power to save thousands. Much can be learned from what happened during the holocaust and what Schindler did to save thousands of Jews.
Researchers have proposed several characteristics of leaders described as ‘charismatic’. The widely accepted characteristics of charismatic leaders are (Bryman et al., 2011, p. 90-91):
