Traffic congestion is a major urban issue and is not only environmentally harmful, but also costs the travelers time and money. For these reasons, most of the cities in the world offer public transportation methods so that more people can be moved efficiently to the same destination at once. However, people living outside of these cities need to be inside of it in order to gain access to the benefits of public transportation. Therefore, it has become an important project for Europe to offer travelers intermodal transportation opportunities. With this, there are several parameters that could be set as preference to decide which route would be ideal, for example we can choose the fastest one but also the cheapest one. Here, regarding to several surveys [4] [7], it appears that the duration and the costs of travel are the most relevant parameters, with costs being more important to the commuters. To choose the best parameter in this case, it is best to create a survey and ask potential users for their preferences of what intermodal transportation should offer them. This way, we increase the possibility for the usage of intermodal transportation in Aachen since the most preferred parameters vary from city to city and especially country to country because of different cultures. As shown in Figure 2, illustrating the routes on a map to the commuter is an important step since that is the way of informing the user of the route and also distinguishes the three steps described in Figure 1.
