In week 2 and 3 of the NFL season trends become clear. Once again this has held true. Through these first two weeks there have been numerous disappointments, breakouts, and players who have lived up to high expectations. In this blog post I will be covering these players and giving some advice on what to do with some of these players. All references to points are in standard league scoring. Disappointments Demarco Murray- Demarco Murray had 9 rushes for 25 yards and had 3 yards in the air week 2. This comes after a week one in which Murray also disappointed. In week 2 Murray also injured his hamstring and allowed second year running back to receive more carries. Henry impressed with 14 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. While Murray …show more content…
Two games into the season and they still have zero touchdowns. Many owners of Green are worried as he scored 7.4 points week 1 and 6.7 points week 2. While these numbers are discouraging, owners need to calm down as Green is still an elite WR1. They’ve faced two elite pass defenses and Green has made it clear he expects more targets. The Bengals play caller was fired and Green will bounce back and finish a WR1 as long as he stays healthy. Christian McCaffrey- Christian McCaffrey was drafted in the third round of most leagues and it does not look like he will live up to the hype. During his first weeks he’s scored 6.5 and 4.4 points. McCaffrey will not be utilized in a way this year that will lead to RB1 numbers this year and he most likely won’t have RB2 numbers. That being said, it would not be surprising if he had a breakout week as he is facing the lackluster Saints defense. If he goes off attempt to trade him while his value is high. Ezekiel Elliott- Elliot had 9 rushes for 8 yards and had an additional 14 yards in the air. While Elliott was facing a solid Broncos run defense, he still looked to be running without energy. Don’t let this one week sway you though as Zeke is still an elite RB that should be considered a top 5 running back when he is playing. Breakouts Chris Carson- Carson had 20 carries for 93 yards plus another 7 yards through the air in week 2. Carson is locked in as Seattle’s top running back and could easily finish as a top 20 fantasy
Pro Football Focus (PFF) has released a list of top players from 2016. I have chosen to present the top ten player from the 2016 NFL season.
Rookie quarterbacks are notoriously not the best idea as the primary option on a fantasy football team. Sometimes even the best aren’t worth much more than an occasional streaming option from one week to the next. Another theory is to roll the dice and see if a rookie with immense future potential, lies around on the waiver wire long enough for you to find him an empty roster spot.
With Sproles back in the fold, the Eagles’ top three running backs seemed to be in place with Corey Clement and Jay Ajayi leading the committee.
Defensive backs are supposed to have short memories, yet nobody seems willing to let Vernon Hargreaves forget how his two seasons in the NFL have not lived up to the promise of a first-round pick. So here are the facts:
Also, the inconsistent play of Broncos' running back C.J. Anderson finally came to an end. This season was expected to be a breakout year for him, and he hasn't met those expectations thus far. Finally, he had the breakout game against the Patriots finishing with 113 yards, and 2 touchdown performance. Anderson was the one who sealed the game in overtime with a 49-yard touchdown run. One could argue that it was the running game that defeated the Patriots, not Osweiler.
Since the loss of Simeon Rice, the Bucs have had a difficult time getting to the QB. Not one player has registered 10 sacks since Rice left.. First, Gaines Adams was the savior but ended up a complete failure. Then Adrian Clayborn and Da’Quon Bowers seemed to be the answer. Bowers ended up doing virtually nothing and Adrian Clayborn was average at best.
It is possible you forgot when James Starks burst onto the scene after being a 6th round pick out of Buffalo. In week 13 the Packers, looking for a spark in the running game activated Starks for the first time all season. He responded by rushing for 73 yards on 18 attempts, in a win over the 49ers. After that Starks returned to his modest role, until the playoffs. During the playoff run, James Starks seemingly came out of nowhere to run for 123 yards on 23 carries against the Eagles. The sparkplug continued to run hard all the way through the playoffs rushing for at least 50 yards in every game as the Packers went on to be crowned Super Bowl Champions.
Jovon Durante had four catches for 52 yards. Gary Jennings caught five passes for 46 yards.
There was no clear-cut number 1 in that offense, and to be honest they didn't need it. Both players were outstanding given their skillsets and I fully believe the Buccaneers are looking to duplicate that same type of responsibility. Luckily for us, Ingram looks to be suspended for the first few games so that's a little reassuring for us come week 1.
Though Saquon Barkley is a tempting pick here, the Giants nab their quarterback of the future to develop behind Eli Manning.
Problems with the Redskins receiving corps has been a sore point with Kurt Cousins since the team reported to Redskins Park for the start of the 2017 season. Cousins had a deep connection with receivers deshawn Johanson and piere garsone over course of his young career. When healthy, the trio has combined for some spectacular performances. Washington chose not to retain their services this year and Cousins was forced to rely on two new and unproven receivers. Terrelle Pryor was acquired in the offseason. Pryor, a former quarterback had one decent year for the Cleveland Browns in 2016, with 77 receptions and 1,007 yards. He has yet to make the full transition to wide out and has a horrible penchant for dropping passes. He shows some reluctance to go over the middle and tends to "short arm" balls. Players have a nickname for receivers who exhibit this trait, "alligator arms." Not exactly a compliment. Pryor has demonstrated this irritating habit numerous times this season. He dropped a sure touchdown pass against the Eagles in week one, perhaps coasting the Redskins a victory. The other receiver who has yet to live up to his potential is Josh Doctson - last year's number one draft choice. He has struggled with injuries and has yet to separate himself from the other receivers. Doctson's dropped touchdown pass against the Chiefs
This week they are taking on another undefeated team in the Broncos. I expect Eddie Lacy to have a much bigger role in the offense this week, as according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he has looked much healthier than he did the last
Freddie Freeman starting at first base, if Freemans wrist does not plague him like it did last year look for Freeman
The new upcoming star Ezekiel Elliott has taken over the rushing game in the NFL. He is mostly known as Zeke around the NFL community. He is a rookie from the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. His Partner in crime is Dak Prescott who has also made his name in the NFL. Just like Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott is a rookie from the 2016 NFL draft. The special thing about Dak is he is a fourth rounder. But together they make the ultimate backfield. One example is Dak set the play up as a running back screen. Once the play started the blockers set out down the field and Dak dumped it to Zeke. He ran with it 83 yards and took it to the house. That is the fifth longest pass and reception in the 2016 NFL season.
Jackson threw for 2,366 yards this season, an average of 215.1 yards per game. He had 16 touchdown passes, and also rushed for four scores. Pumphrey appeared in 11 games, including eight starts
