Planning for Intentional Discipleship from Birth to Glory: A Vision for Our Church
In accordance with our church mission statement, the objective of this plan is to justify the need for Christian education within our church, using Scripture as the supreme authority and example, and identify strategies in which we might intentionally seek to develop a Biblical system of discipleship for our congregation throughout the entire lifespan. This discipleship plan will serve as a model to follow when determining the “who”, “what”, “when”, “where”, “how”, and “why” of teaching in our church. This plan includes the Biblical and theological foundations for education within the church, a lifespan disciple-making model, which outlines a process of growth with standards, indicators and methods of measurement, ideas for expanding discipleship methods to the homes of church members, and a synopsis of ways to integrate discipleship within the programs of the church itself.
Theological and Scriptural Foundations for Christian Education
There are several passages in Scripture that allude to the necessity of Christian education, as well as some passages that are direct mandates for instruction. We believe that Christian education is a cooperative process involving both human participation and divine inspiration.
