Women in carpentry should get payed the same as men because it is discrimination against women. According to Pay or Compensation Discrimination “Pay or compensation discrimination occurs when employees performing similar work do not receive similar remuneration. Pay discrimination also occurs when a pay differential has an illegitimate basis such as race or sex” ( Midwest New). Women should be paid equal salaries. It is unfair that full time working women earn 77% of what males earn. This is not only unfair but highly degrading to the morals of women all over America. In other words, women and men should have equal opportunity no matter the gender. Women are as capable of providing the same quality of work or better than man. Paying women less is going against the EPA which is The United States Environmental Protection Agencies. An agency of the Federal government of the United States which was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. It is unlawful to pay women less money than a men for the same job. Education has nothing to do with this, according to Senior Research Associate They receive more college and graduate degrees than men. Yet, on average, women continue to earn considerably less than men. In 2015, female full-time, year-round workers made only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 20 percent (Anderson).
