In international business the topics of diversity and culture is one the most important strategy that needs be address. Making the decision to outsource for profit gain will not necessarily happen if preparation of cultural change is not in place first. What is values and a norms in a company’s country may be offensive to other social groups of people. For example, in Germany lack of attention to diversity and culture had a serious impacts on Walmart’s position. It build frustrations to both the employees and customers that played a major role in the downfall of Walmart in Germany.
Diversity is an issue we have discussed, it has triggered different types of problems in an organization. In recent years the topic of diversity has become a vital strategy towards improving acceptance of individual differences in an organization. Companies that expand their business to a global market face diversity in a higher intensity than those companies that only do business in their own countries.
The perception of diversity is to bring acceptance and respect among individual differences. It means being understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be because of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other beliefs. It is the consideration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other
