Having a Korean mother and Japanese father, I have had the privilege of being able to experience two different cultures throughout my entire life. I speak both Japanese and Korean fluently, and also understand both cultures at heart. Coming from this unique background, I naturally became interested in the relations between different countries and their cultures. Moreover, the experience of studying in Canada has allowed me to have the ability to work with and learn from cultural and religious diversity. I currently go to a Christian high school in Canada, and I have learned Christianity, which has been exceedingly eye-opening as my knowledge of religion expanded. At school, I am also a membership of Key Club, which is a internationally active student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service. I went to Cuba with the school band/choir on the first trip. We played for various community bands and orchestras and in turn they also played for us. On the second trip, I went to Thailand. I worked with HIV positive children at an orphanage in Chang Mai, distributed foods and supplies for the elderly in slums in Bangkok, and experienced living in a very remote village called Akha village and worked with the locals there. At last, I went to India, just a month ago in March. I went to an orphanage in Manali and worked with the children, and also taught classes to grade 2 to 8 at a small school
