Why am I here? I am here because I am everywhere that I am invited. I am here because that is my job, that is what I have been doing for years and years. Does it mean I endorse any meeting I attend, or any Eritrean configuration that I see? Nope. Do I feel comfortable to talk about diversity in a very congregation that has no semblance of diversity? Not at all. If I did, I will betray the cause for which I struggle. When I see warts in our operations, I have to mention it. I do not feel comfortable as the only Muslim among the 21 assembled "speakers" or "panelists," among who are people I respect very much. And I have to emphasize, I object to tokenism even if I understand it is not for lack of good intentions. Let me take you back in time, …show more content…
Mokennen became friendly with all of us who hang around Mohammed's shop. He would tell us about his escapades and his bravery in the last battle against the bandits that he participated. Then he will recieve the money for the things he sold to Mohammed and go to the nearest bar to drink. One day he was lecturing us about the greatness of Haile Sellassie in a very animated way. To explain that the shiftas struggle is in vain and they will never defeat Haile Sellassie, he went to the wall and pushed it will all his might, shaking and sweating. He then asked us, "Gdgddaw tenqesaqese?" We shook our head, 'No the wall didn't move.' He smiled, "Haile Sellassie endezih gdgda now" Haile Sellassie is unmovable, like the …show more content…
Our internal relations, at the traditional level are as strong as one can imagine. Our regional and sectarian ties run deep into our history. Our traditional conflict resolution mechanisms are very effective--have you ever seen an Eritrean Christian screaming about his objection to Sharia'a laws in Eritrea? No. It is a Dispora malady induced by the likes of Fox News? Why? Because there was always a Shria'a law in Eritrea, and it is still there under the PFDJ. If regulates family laws of Muslims. In the Highlands we have so many laws, adkeme-mlegae, logo chews, adgna geleba, etc. so many of them. And Christians are comfortable referring to their traditional laws with pride. imagine one just discovering that the Shria'a is the Traditional law of Eritrean Muslim, their hgi endaba? Uhhhh, believe me it has nothing to do with the despicable AlQaeda or ISIS? And all the scare mongering, as if it just happened

Both of my parents grew up in an African Country named “Eritrea.” The country has become my home, even if I never lived there and only had the chance to visit about two times. I try to learn anything I can about how Eritrea is doing. One thing that is outstanding about Eritrea is the relationship between Christians and Muslims in the country.
In today work force and the different diversity groups you work with you have to be able to try and understand you have to change the way things are managed so that you do not offend anyone from a different culture. Just recently my manager walked by my desk and said what is that smell, well I have a new neighbor that was stinking pretty badly. My neighbor is from a different culture then the rest of us and does not shower every day and does not wear deodorant and on the hot days you can smell him. It went on for a month and then he took it upon himself to go to the person’s manager and told him he needed to do something about it because it’s getting worse. I don’t believe that was the best idea but I can’t stop my manager from doing anything.
America’s workforce is below average. Well, it does sound like a crazy statement but America’s job market is more gilded than we thought. With over 5.6 million job openings reported by both the Bureau of Labor Statistics and CNN.com, it has no signs of stopping. This is due to the persistent component that hasn’t been addressed, which, you guessed it, is our unskilled workers. Also known as the skills gap issue, many employers find it difficult to obtain enough workers that are qualified for their vacancies and leads to them losing potential profits. As a high school student, the American institutional instruction are no longer enough to prepare our young prospects, like myself, for future in-demand jobs. It’s adamant that American education

However, as this movie demonstrates, the relationship between separated groups does not necessarily have to be, and in fact should never be, an oppositional one. People in Cameroon, although members of many different religions, have managed to overcome their differences and live peacefully together. The movie introduced us to Joseph and his father, Lutherans from North Cameroon, who are both married to Muslim women. Joseph further explained that being a Lutheran in a Muslim dominated Northern Cameroon has never been a problem, as he never experienced any kind of prejudice or discrimination in his community, and has always felt free to express and practice his religion. Saleem, a practicing Muslim, expressed his point of view as well. He said that at Christmas time, he goes to his Christian neighbors’ houses, where they all celebrate, eat and drink together. Similarly, at the time of Ramadan, everyone is welcome to come to his home, regardless of their faith. Their community was able to achieve unity and peace by establishing ‘’porous boundaries’’ between ‘‘Us’’ and ‘‘Them’’, which, just as Eller has suggested, allowed them to emphasize the similarities between those groups and encourage people to learn about other religions and interact with them, instead of focusing on the differences between their religions (Eller, 363).
