Although the National Football League (NFL) seems to provide a source of entertainment for Americans, it is slowly but surely brainwashing our population. Starting in September, a great majority of the American population gathers around TV screens and crowds into stadiums across the country to watch men ram into each other in hopes of getting a leather ball to the end of a field. This occurs every Sunday, as well as the occasional Saturday and Monday night. Fans spend hundreds of dollars on game tickets, and NFL Ticket TV subscriptions to ensure that they never miss a game. If we were to take a step back and look at it, these weekly occurrences seem to become ritualistic. What was supposed to be a source of entertainment has become a routine
Deviance as a word refers to any behavior regarded as odd or unacceptable. However, from a sociological point of view, deviance refers to any action or behavior that runs contrary to social norms (Macionis and Gerber 200). This includes crimes, which are violations of formally enacted rules, as well as violation of the socially accepted norms. Norms refer to the rules as well as the expectations that guide the conventional behavior of human beings (Macionis and Gerber 204). Thus, deviant acts arise from non-conformance with these norms. Deviance is relative, to both the time and the place. This is because an act that may appear deviant in a particular context may not be deviant in another. For example, fighting at school is a deviant behavior,
heart. I have been a loyal supporter of my local team since I was a

In medical terminology, dual-task paradigm is referred as a procedure that requires an individual to do two tasks at the same time, and is a method used to assess a person’s central executive function (Sala, Baddeley, Papagno, & Spinnler, 1995). According to Baddeley (1992), central executive component is associated with a person’s attention control system. These tests revealed that ice hockey players who had a history of sports-related injury had implications on dealing with more than one task at the same time. Their findings suggest that hockey players’ dual tasking capabilities drastically decreased. Moreover, a person’s brain is a very sensitive organ, so any serious movements can cause internal damage. It is known for a fact that the frontal lobes of the brain are associated with a person’s speech production, attention, concentration, and motivation. Since the frontal lobe is located in front of the brain and at the top of the skull, a person’s frontal lobes are the most vulnerable regions and are likely to suffer from injuries in head contact sports (Baillargeon, Lassonde, Leclerc, & Ellemberg, 2012). The research studies conducted may explain the relatively strong association between the affected area in the injury and the consequences in performing and concentrating on two tasks.
Football season is winding down. As you know, the end of football season means everyone is gearing up for big showdowns between their favorite matchups. If you are a football fan, then it’s possible that you are planning to tailgate this year. Although tailgating is a great way to show you team spirit, safe tailgating is critical to having a good time and prevent claims against your auto insurance.
For my assignment I chose article 2; first of all, this article was overall poorly written due to the amount of bias. The piece was written only to demonstrate how the author (Chris Chase) believed the Patriots was the source of the deflated footballs before the game. The biased writer also incorporates what he considers the punishment should be for the “vandalism” in the match. In summation, he quotes, “What’s the NFL going to do, bring back the Colts to replace them?”. I believe that this quote demonstrates bias by picking a team that only he thinks is more reliable and highly successful. At the same time, I think that instead of saying the Colts, Chris should have written the quote as, “What’s the NFL is going to do, replace them?”, To
This movie displays many different ways of courage. Courage is being brave with there is doubt and to be fearless when danger comes. “Remember the Titans” is about an integrated football team who helped influence their town to “trust the soul of a man rather than the look of him” says Coach Yoast. The people in Alexandria, Virginia were angry that an African American was taken on to be the Head Hoach. Many of the white players wanted to quit the team and petition to get Coach Boone out, so that Coach Yoast could get his job back. Their plan did not work, however, Boone wanted to keep Yoast as a part of the team, but only as an assistant. Coach Yoast accepted Boone’s invitation as the assistant coach for the defensive line. Together they defied
Does anyone care for Sunday night football? This is not just any Sunday night NFL game, but the biggest sporting event in the world that 151 million people will watch in 232 different countries. (“By the Numbers”). Welcome to the Super Bowl. The huge night that everyone looks forward to is a “billion-dollar economic engine that is bigger than the Gross Domestic Product of many nations” (John 3). Although the Super Bowl is only played once a year, it is the biggest, most-widely known game in American history and the most-widely viewed television spectacle in the world.
“It is to my mind simple nonsense, a mere confession of weakness” A quote said by one of our very own football loving presidents, Teddy Roosevelt. People believe football is too dangerous and shouldn’t be played. Around the U.S. critics over exaggerate consequences in football. Even though football is criticized, football is not too dangerous to play.
Even though I just graduated in 2016, I feel like I am so much older when I attend a high school football game but that will not stop me from going anytime soon. High school games are full of spirit and the environment is so hype and energetic. There is personally no other place like it. You can go to Disney World or to a concert but I guarantee you will not feel the same as being close to home and having a good time with the people you grow to know and become familiar with.

American football, referred to as football in the United States and Canada, and also known as gridiron football or simply gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, which is the team controlling the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with or passing the ball, while the defense, which is the team without control of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and aims to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs, or plays, and otherwise they turn over the football to the defense; if the offense succeeds in advancing ten yards or more, they are given a new set of four downs.
Our group discussion was boring we didn't really care about football that much. Mink and I almost knew nothing about football, Dear knew a bit so mainly he started the discussion. From the book we read that football once had no proper rules, each team had their own rule at first. I think that would be fun each team gets to learn the opponent's team rules and then they play half game by one rule then another half by another
Communication is the foundation of accomplishments for both animals and humans, functioning as a team to obtain a common goal. For those who enjoy football, have seen communication as it’s finest; while watching Peyton Manning break the huddle after giving the play only to see the defense is set up to stop the play. At this point he begins to audible alerting team members that the play called previously has changed. Peyton, was very successful during his playing days, considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game. While football is just a sport to the spectator. It was Peyton’s business and he flourished as a team leader using effective communication, winning two superbowls. .According to Guffey and Loewy (2013) productive team members articulate ideas clearly and concisely, recognize nonverbal cues, and listen actively.
