Mr. S, better known as Scooter, a 62-year-old man hospitalized for severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), is being released from the hospital today without all that is medically necessary for his survival.
COPD is an irreversible progressive lung disease that makes it harder for people to breath. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (2015), COPD is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
Scooter was a jubilant clown that traveled the world and was part of the renowned Wringling Brothers Circus. He spent his career making people laugh and brought happiness to their lives. After becoming ill, he was let go by the circus.
