After watching Pay it Forward, it shows me that you don’t always have to know if you made a difference or not . The reason i don’t think that you have to know if you made a difference or not because in the movie, Trevor was trying to make a difference in the world by helping the homeless . He didn’t think that he succeeded because when he went to check up on him he didn’t come out or to the door. He could feel he didn’t make a difference . After a while, he ended up making a difference through him because the homeless man helped the lady that was going to commit suicide . He talked her out of doing it and talked her into going and getting coffee with him. So therefore no, you don’t always have to know whether or not you made a difference or …show more content…
Also, if you feel you’re helping someone in any way even if it’s harmful you may still feel good about helping them. You shouldn’t though because it’s not good for them. You don’t always feel great while doing good things. It’s weird to actually think of it that way. You’d think that someone would feel amazing if they’re doing good things for people instead of barely feeling anything about it. It’s easier to give someone alcohol or drugs to make them happy rather than trying to do something that’s better for them and try to make them happy that way. You don’t want to make someone go further in their addiction or their bad habits if it’s harming them or someone else. That’s not paying it forward at all .That’s like taking it back, making someone take steps back if they’re trying to better themselves. You want to pay it forward instead of making someone fall back to their bad habits or addiction . To pay it forward means to try to better someone by doing something good for them. Ex: mowing an elderly neighbor’s lawn because they aren’t in the best shape ; help carry some groceries in . Just some simple things could change someone’s life a little. It could easily make someone’s opinion of this generation change. To pay it back means to do something good in return for someone doing a good deed for you . If someone was to do something helpful or good
Pay-it-forwardism is an amazing movement, but there are many flaws to the movement. When watching the movie one flaw that I saw in “pay-it-forwardism” is how Trevor brought a homeless man into his home. Trevor provides the homeless man with food, shower, and somewhere to sleep, but Trevor does not know that the homeless man is a drug addict. Bringing a drug addict into his house put himself and his mother life into danger and at serious risk because drug-addicts tend to steal and physically hurt others who have more than them. Luckily the homeless man did not hurt Trevor or his mother, but this is still a major flaw, in ‘pay-it- forwardism”. Trevor was willing to risk his life by bringing a stranger into his home. Trevor idea to bring home
It realty shouldn't take much put of a person to help others. Although the video didn't show one of life's greatest friend (Karma) which is basically. What goes around comes back around. This would have been a great scene to add in the video. To show the audience that helping others will always return to you. Instead it showed a man that wanted to give to people and did not want anything in return. This video took a total turn that I wasn't expecting. This is a story of a kind and humble man. That wants nothing in return but peace. This message could also be trying to encourage others to become more generous. But we all know in today's society , this is pretty much nonexistence. There is so much violence going on in today's world. So many people want to be the chief and filled with pride. Then there are some that just wants to be heard. But the High Seat is not looking around to see the bigger picture, and how it is affecting families. Plenty countries in this world needs help with educational funding, housing development, and employment opportunities. We all know that the government ,or High Seat has the will to help the countries and communities with their financial struggles. It all starts off with basic foundation of success. No education, no future career goals, no life. Instead very few people are taking matters into their own hands, such as the man in the video. Doesn't really look like he
Pay it Forward is a movie that deals with many controversial topics such as addiction and poverty in a way that explains how we are able to help solve them. The movie starts out with Eugene Simonet assigning his junior high history class an extra credit opportunity. For the extra credit assignment, they must come up with a way to change the world and to put it into action. Most of the children don’t take the assignment seriously, believing that it is impossible. However, Trevor McKinney takes it upon himself to change the world with a plan he calls “Pay It Forward”. His plan goes on to help many people in the United States, including Jerry, a homeless man whom he helps get off drugs, his mother, Arlene, who is an alcoholic, and Mr. Simonet who has issues with his past. Long after the assignment, Trevor believes that his plan for “Pay It Forward” has failed because he could not get enough people to participate. However, a news reporter from Los Angeles tracks the movement to Trevor, who is in Las Vegas.
Summary: Pay It Forward, written by Catherine Hyde, is about a boy named Trevor who was tasked by his teacher create a plan that would better the world. Trevor then devised the “Pay It Forward” program, a branching system of good deeds under the notion that instead of paying back a favor, a person would instead do favors of high importance for three other people. Although his first favor attempt with a homeless man appeared to have failed, Trevor’s second favor for his teacher began a chain of events that lead to the sparing of one’s man life. Soon Trevor’s idea become a national event that promotes altruistic acts, even resulting with his first act of kindness to pay his favor forward. Trevor’s last favor, though having unforeseen sequences,
Trevor has changed the world in this book with just simple acts, and it's clear just how powerful one person, no matter the age, can be. That is how the Pay it forward book and it's movement really are, along with how someone can make it happen. Trevor has shown the power of one, how he has affected a whole generation of people, and how he stands against the society of me me me. The question now is how can someone in the generation change it in real life, rather than just a
The concept of “paying it forward” has been popularized in the news and social media. For one waitress, paying it forward has turned her entire life around. These two people experienced an unlikely chain of events that would change their lives forever.
In the book called Holes, there is a very friendly character. His name is Stanley. He portrays kindness, generosity, and he is warm hearted. He shows this kind of character throughout the book.
The point was that it did not cost a thing to treat others with kindness and can make a bigger impact on
And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.” this is a quote by the Dalai Lama and it is very true. Doing something good by helping people is a chain reaction, because if I help one person by doing something, then they might be impacted and they could pass it on by doing something nice too. That could make the world a much better place, by spreading happiness and helpfulness one person at a time.
Pay It Forward, a story written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, recounts the history of a fictional phenomenon known as paying it forward. This movement begun as a boy’s answer to his teacher extra credit assignment. To provide a solution to improve the world as the question request, a boy named Trevor devised a program with a goal of spreading altruistic actions. The plan begins with a person doing a meaningful favor to three people. Instead of having those individuals paying back the favor, they would “pay it forward” and help three other people each. As it is expected for each recipients to continue the cycle, it is believe that eventually this would create a global system of good deeds to the point where everyone can receive a favor, even the one
I have always enjoyed helping people out. In my school they have a club called National Honors Society. This club gives people more of an opportunity to do community service hours. Everyone is required to complete fifteen hours a year. Last year I completed over twenty five hours of community service. Every time I saw I had an opportunity I would take it. I don't see those fifteen hour requirements as the only way to be and stay in this club; I see it as an opening to be able to help my community all for a return of a smile. People need to see that there are others just like me, who are willing to help, and want the best for others, for nothing in return. I have never known why it is that helping others when they are needed makes me feel happy. In a way, it's one of my happiness's. I know what it's like to have a need and to not have anyone around to help. I am the kind of person who doesn't want others to feel that way, at least not all the time. I know every day someone has a need of some kind and they can't do anything about it. That's what people like me are for, to help out even if it's just every once in a while. Events all around constantly need help setting things up or just need a little help. All the help people can get is always good enough. I am taking responsibility to help people see that not everyone is selfish, not everyone takes advantage of things. I am always grateful to be able to give my time to my community, my people. America needs more people who are willing to give. Donations can be made to hospitals or orphanages. I do community service and projects now, they may be little, but I know they still matter. In my future, I see myself to continue my route, possibly even creating bigger community projects. Because America can only focus on so much, people like me are able to take care of the rest of the
In John Steinbeck’s Of mice and Men the concept of justice is explored as a deliverance of what is deserved. Steinbeck also explores how justice is culturally relative and how justice is linked to power in a way that only those in power can distribute justice. In the novella, the distribution of justice varies with the person depending on their culture, and the only people who distribute justice in the book are those in power. By exploring this way of justice in the novella, Steinbeck attempts to make reference of the bad idea of justice that the American government had at the time, and how their idea of justice needs reform.
When I am at best, I help people. I motivate myself and feel motivated when I get to help others. Whether it’s a stranger, colleague, friends, or family, I feel my passion in assisting those in need. As long as it’s within my capability and moral belief that what people ask for help is ethical and legal, I give them my attention and time. I feel happy that I am able to give a hand, and I feel happy to see people become happy with the help I give them. Helping others put smiles on my face and also on them as well. I feel proud of myself that I have the power to help the
I wasn’t aware of the importance of doing good for others, until recently that I witnessed it with my own eyes. It all started when was at Chicago, a random man helped out a homeless man and bought him some food. I noticed as I was in line that the cashier then gave the helping man a free choice to pick something he wanted due to the action he did. After that day I began to make an attempt at helping out more and being a better person in general.
In the play, there were many thrilling segments which could be focused on due to the suspense and involvement of the supernatural. The use of the witches, the visions, the ghost and the apparition is key to making the idea of the plot work and it adds the elements of thrill and suspense to the audience. Reading through each act and scene of the play, it is noticed that the supernatural is in reality a primary concept of the play’s plot.
