The 2016 presidential election was one of the most controversial moments in history; what many people thought would be impossible, Donald Trump won the presidential election. He did this by blatantly exaggerating and butchering the truth. This possessed the fragile minds of ill fated conservatives, and therefore won him the election. This is an external influence. Something that is put forth whether it is by the media, a politician, or a book that gives either a negative or positive impact on you. Although most of which Trump said were either complete lies or grossly exaggerated truths, it was still firmly believed by a high percentage of conservatives in America. We are so vulnerable to external influences, and our actions and thoughts can …show more content…
They normally have a positive and helpful effect on us, but they can also have a negative effect. In an article published on The Week, the author describes the advancements of voice technology and what companies are making them. The author also touches on the fact that there are downsides to our AI friends. “Privacy is a big [downside]. Personal assistants are always ‘listening’ to their ‘wake word,’ often their name, and many users have had the irritating experience of accidentally triggering their artificially intelligent companions.” What’s more, because the devices are constantly “listening,” they can gather intel on your habits, where you live, and what you enjoy. “Naturally, there are concerns that having a listening device in your home is an opportunity for tech companies to gain even more insight into your buying and personal habits.” With this information, ads will be given to your IP address (the physical location where you access the web) resulting in the companies knowing who you are, where you live, and what you do. This relates quite closely to external influences, because the companies use your data to influence what you buy through advertisements. Overall, the privacy issue centralized around these products is yet another fine example of how external influence shape you and tune your
The six documents provided in the appendix can be grouped together in many different ways. Although all of the documents imply ways their respective empires exerted political power, there were some distinctions between them. Additionally, all of the documents incorporate their respective cultures’ beliefs into their governments and methods for exerting political power. Document 1, for example, shows that the Persians incorporated their value of bravery into their method of exerting political power, military conquests. The Greeks and Romans in Documents 2 and 6 incorporated their value of freedom into their methods of exerting political power. The Greeks incorporated freedom by boating about their free democracy while the Romans included the
Monetary value has had significant influence in determining the outcome of elections. The input and strategies put forward by different forces determine the organizational scheme and the ability to grab most of the seats. Although money has been linked to corrupt deals in many countries, with leaders amassing power through corrupt and underhand methods, especially in Africa, this is not the case of the same monetary influence witnessed in America. The conventions of the U.S.A raise a lot of money in preparation for campaigns and elections to constitute a good number of representatives. The paper, therefore, looks at the effect of money in the recently concluded elections of the Congress, giving a deeper view of the 113th and 114th Congress election of the two major conventions.
In Trump’s first 200 days in office he signed more Executive Orders than Obama averaged in a year (Gould, 2017), most of which reversed major Obama-era regulations that affect our environments and our economy. One in particular will make a significant impact on the lives of America’s poorest citizens. From the beginning of his campaign Trump pledged to help the inner cities focusing particularly on the African American communities. However, federal agencies such as the
Not only that, these sociable robots inadvertently change the way we view reality around. In today society what was once taboo like talking to an inanimate object is now acceptable because of new technology. Even the
Machine politicians were an influential factor to urban cities during the wave of immigration. During this era, immigrants were unfamiliar with the urban lifestyle and assimilation was strenuous. It is apparent that Machine politicians helped impoverished immigrants gain a sense of cohesion within a community. For instance, Machine politicians sponsored local events such as picnics, youth clubs, baseball teams, and choirs for immigrants to divert from pubs. This local party organization became an essential institution for the community. Likewise, Machine politicians represented working class Americans, mainly consisting of lower-class immigrants. These groups were supported politically by the machines, which served their interests and helped
Donald Trump on Friday shamed 1996 Miss Universe Alicia Machado of her sexual past and her gaining weight after she won beauty queen. Trump accused Hillary Clinton of using Alicia Machado to ally with her in the campaign. Many tweets were sent from Trump attacking Alicia Machado at around 3 a.m. and she defended herself saying that Trump is a dangerous man who should not be president of the United States. Machado in her Facebook stated that Donald Trump is demoralizing women and is saying lies about her. Furthermore, Trump also humiliated Machado by filming her working out after she gained weight and called her Ms. Peggy. He said that her massive weight gain was a real problem which destroyed Machado self-confidence. Clinton who is defending
The American political system is built on simple but revolutionary principles from our founding Fathers. These principles state that self-governance is an absolute right and the governments purpose is to serve the interests of the people. Characteristics which are essential to a healthy, functioning democracy. But America has stumbled upon a formidable roadblock to the realization of our founding fathers dream, as Lincoln said, of a country that is "of the people, by the people and for the people"( Citizens at Work, 2003). There are many factors that distort this reality and the main
I have a few worries me about the 2016 presidential election that Donald Trump won. Some of the things that worry me are his attitude, his lack of experience as a palatishin, and his disrespect towards women and children.
After listening to the panel of professors speak at the SCAD Keynote Event, "Explaining the Trump Phenomenon: Interdisciplinary Perspectives", I learned a variety of perspectives on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. These perspectives were on different topics, including how he gained his supporters, his economic policies and other policies, what could happen if he becomes president, and much more. First, Trump’s popularity was definitely a surprise to a lot of people. Many of the panelists believe that he gained his supporters by shining light on some of our nation and government’s hidden problems. So he ultimately used fear to gain voters. One professor showed a poll showing that an overwhelming majority of people voting for Trump
The 2016 presidential election was a polarizing one, in which political sideliners were motivated, placed into a role unbeknownst to them, and single handily contributed to one of the biggest upsets in election history.
In today’s world, the most controversial politician in this era is the president of the U.S. How did Trump possibly get to the point where he was able to lead the republican party, even with overflowing controversy? Can anybody with immense wealth/fortune and/or credible political connections become the frontrunner of the presidential election? Regardless of one’s answer, after this presidential election the outlook on the set up and landscape of politics will change drastically. The accusations of assault, moral dishonesty, and racism towards Trump has brought more turmoil in the political world, feuds among the people, and rambunctious protests within communities than any other presidential election this century. Even though degrading controversy is associated with Trump, he was still able to use highly effective sarcastic and hyperbolic rhetoric, which translated to entertainment, to capture votes and overcome accusations of assault.
When listening to several campaign rallies from Donald Trump, I believe his presidential personality leans toward active positive. Active positive presidents are “confident and flexible, they enjoy the exercise of power and do not take themselves too seriously, they emphasize the "rational mastery" of their environment, and power is used as a means to achieve beneficial results” (wolcottapusgov.blogspot.com).
This gives organizations information that the user may not aware is being recorded and shared. Without knowing it, we are leaving “ electronic fingerprints” with every mouse click, every phone call, is recorded and used for analysis purposes, which tend to be justified through the idea that it is used to help protect civilians from terrorist or other threats. Though surveillance is used to protect society, it can go as far as to even control and monitor society. In countries like China, the government uses surveillance to censor what is available to the public, and therefore allows the leaders of the country to maintain a tighter grip on society.
We elect politicians on the basis on the issues by which they stand, and these issues are either held up or weakened by the numerous interest groups that exist today. Interest groups target both major and minor issues, using all of their resources to sponsor or overpower the groups’ concern. Interest groups are composed of a limited range of the body of voters who have a great stake in the issues their group support. They make evident the issues their group supports. Their resources are used in an attempt to make their issue public policy. Interest groups are persistent; they do not give up until they succeed. They lobby congress, take legal action,
There is over 7.6 billion people in this world, meaning there is also a lot of different personalities. One of those are the negative people we all encounter in our lives. They make everyone around them miserable, and these people can impact your life in a negative way. For example: not being happy, having negative thoughts, and loosing friendships. Even if you try to stay positive someone’s negativity will always drain you. These people just complain and nag instead of being appreciative of the good they do have in their life.
