Trumpocalypse, a reference to the world after Donald Trump becomes president, is now also a video game, song, hashtag, book, and the topic of many articles. Indeed, the #NeverTrump and #Trumpocalypse movements are among the social media efforts opposing the election of Trump as the President of the United States. These movements are based on the unsuitability of Trump, which he has repeatedly demonstrated in debates and interviews, as well as on his own social media. Although many people oppose Trump because of political party affiliation, his character, actions, and plans should discourage support regardless of party affiliation. As a candidate for the United States presidency, Donald Trump exemplifies a lack of diplomacy and disregard for …show more content…
Trump has not demonstrated an understanding of national and international concepts, such as the Geneva Convention. He has claimed that, should he be elected, the military will begin targeting the families of terrorists. In addition, the use of torture to interrogate criminals will be supported, including the return of waterboarding. Both proposals are violations of the Geneva Convention, which has been explained to him with no effect. Not only should these severe lapses of judgement be alarming, but Trump’s lack of diplomacy has insulted at least 217 different people, objects, and places, including foreign nations, as shown in the list compiled by Jasmine Lee and Kevin Quealy of the New York Times. His degradations are sometimes attempts to limit the speech of the targeted party as revenge, such as spreading rumors that Forbes, the National Review, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal are “failing,” “dying,” written by “really bad people” who “knowingly print lies,” and even, in the case of the Wall Street Journal, “bad at math” (Lee and Quealy) after uncomplimentary articles were written. On a wider scale, Trump’s allegations against countries such as Britain, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico could damage international relations, particularly the plan to build a much larger wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and “compel Mexico to pay for the wall” (Make America Great Again!). Marco Rubio, who was also a Republican candidate, explained why Trump’s inconsideration has short-term success but long-term problems: “A lot of people find appeal in the things Donald says [because] he says what people wish they could say. The problem is, presidents can't just say anything they want. It has consequences, here and around the world” (CNN). Although many people do not support
To begin with, Donald Trump believes that he is above everyone else and does not have to follow any rules. Trump’s narrow-mindedness and arrogance makes him a non-conformist. For example, Trump continuously spoke about putting up a wall so that Mexican people wouldn't be able to cross the border to come to America. Trump said “ I will build a great wall- and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me- and I'll build them very inexpensively.’ ‘ I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall.’ ‘Mark my words.’” Therefore, Donald Trump felt certain that he will build a wall to keep people out and make them pay for it. Furthermore, Donald Trump sexually humiliated a former Miss Universe. He made an
What might a Trump presidency look like? With the general elections coming up in November, it is still unsure which candidate will accept their seat in presidency due to the uprising amount of Trump supporters. In the light of his publicity, the chances for Trump’s victory in the Republican presidential nomination has grown significantly since his winnings in early-voting states. Also, Trump’s lead in polls and his ability to put himself in the spotlight has contributed to the large turnout of supporters simply because of that fact that he is not afraid to speak his mind and his outrageous claims to make America “great again.” As Trump gains publicity, people must try to understand and educate themselves of the controversial plans that he intends to carry out throughout his
Donald Trump, a republican running for the presidency of the US, considers himself to be a frank person. Facts, however, contradict what he considers to be himself to be. For example, Trump’s biggest policy leading his campaign is his policy on immigration. He has stated that if he were to become president, he’d build a wall in Mexico. He says Mexico will be funding the building of the wall. His statement is bogus because Pena Nieto, the president of Mexico, tweeted, “At the start of the conversation with Donald Trump, I made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall.” Not only has Trump made in genuine claims concerning Mexico’s president, he has made in genuine claims concerning the current US president, Barack Obama. On a myriad of
After following this year's election, I have acquired a vast amount of knowledge on Donald Trump and his political beliefs. He is an intelligent man. There is no doubt about that. He has many successful businesses, and he managed to somehow convince the majority of the United States to vote him as our next president. However, Donald Trump is a well known sexist and is quite bigoted in his beliefs. The only social class that he cares about is the wealthy upper class, seeing as he is a part of said class. Every choice he makes during his presidency effects this generation and the generations to come. As a fifteen year old who will be affected by all the choices he makes during his presidency, I have many concerns for America when Trump takes office.
Today in modern society, we are driven by social forces. Not only do we strive for human approval and companionship, we also thrive on social media. The media plays such a pivotal role in what we buy, eat, wear, etc. that we are conditioning ourselves to fit the mold for the “perfect” or “ideal” body type. This social construct has been a pressing issue for many years regarding the female physique, but not as much has been said on behalf of men. When confronted with appearance based advertisements, men are more likely to experience muscle dissatisfaction, weight disparities, and anger and/or anxiety toward showing their body in public. This paper will address these facets of the media’s effect on male body image as well as presenting what has been done to address this quietly debilitating issue.
The elections of 2016 are a portrayal of both unrest and aspiration for the political future of the United States of America. The 2016 elections are possibly both unorthodox and most controversial. Spurred through social media, this year’s elections are grabbing everyone’s attention, both globally and nationally. Out of the twenty three candidates, only two remain: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump, specifically, has shocked the citizens of USA with his blunt and piercing opinions. Because of his bold character, he remains a recognizable political figure. Though his statements may not seem to be premeditated, his thoughts are original and most importantly, supported with evidence and logic.
As of January of 2017, America is under new management. Donald J Trump, a businessman and reality television host, is the 45th President of the United States of America. In his inauguration speech, he reiterated the point of “America First!”, hailing back to the platform he ran on during the election against Hillary Rodham Clinton. His campaign was focused on anti-immigrant rhetoric, targeting non-American Muslims and Mexicans. He insists upon building a wall across our southern border and making Mexico pay for it. He criticizes trade with China, and believes that American companies need to be manufacturing their products at home instead of abroad. A president cannot govern by rhetoric, but according to a study held by White House advisor and
Donald Trump’s win in the recent Presidential campaign is probably one of the greatest paradoxes in the recent political history of the US. On the one hand, he was the candidate unwanted and criticised by everyone, including the Republican Party, which has actually nominated him as the President. On the other hand, his very controversial sayings and ideas has drawn the public attention and public support to him and revived nostalgic feelings of many Americans about traditional American values and return of America to its greatness.
In 2005 more than 10 million cosmetic procedures were done in America. People can not stand how they look, they want to look better. Almost as if there is a competition going on about who can look the best. A large majority of people do not have a good view of their body image. Body image in America has changed for the worse due to the media, a lack of self confidence, and a growing obsession with beauty.
In the article, “American Carnage and America First: The Inauguration of Donald Trump”, Doug Schoen, a notable political strategist, argues that despite the opposition that President Trump has received in the 2016 Election thought the media, his focus now is to place the control of the government in the hands of the American people. According to the article, President Trump believes that if we are able to encourage people, regardless of their political views or parties, to work together for the better benefit of our country we can reach the vision of “Making America Great Again”. However, the transition of the presidency from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, the vision President Trump now has for our country, and the opposition
“If Donald Trump's plans were ever implemented, the country would sink into a prolonged recession," said former GOP nominee Mitt Romney (Cary). By saying this Romney is trying to convey his strong belief on Trump’s ineligibility to be the president of the United States. The debate on this political issue has been going on since the presidential campaign started last year. While it is true that he won the presidential election, many Americans are still questioning if he’s the right person for their country or not. They have been considering both his personal and professional life. From his relationships to his success. Some say that his ties with other countries can be very beneficial, while others disagree due to his lack of political experience.
From Washington to Washington D.C the idea that Donald Trump could become president has alternately set off fits of laughter and terror. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump is easily most polarizing. People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn 't afraid to speak his mind.[2] Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a businessman. Trump’s stance on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he hasn’t made an issue statement but because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact, been a member of both political parties in previous years.
From the very beginning of his campaign trail, Donald Trump piqued America’s interest with his blunt and oftentimes shocking statements. With his candidacy came exclamations of making America great, building walls, deporting illegal immigrants, and keeping jobs in the United States. A Google search
Over the years a debate over who is to blame over the decline in how girls perceive themselves has arisen. With Photoshop being the societal norm concerning the media, it has become difficult for many to understand where the line between real and near impossible standards lies. Youths see an image edited to “perfection” and strive to reach the standards that they imagine due to the images displayed on magazines, television and social media. From Disney to magazines like Vogue the mass media bombards audiences with fake beauty that they, as normal people, will never be able to achieve. The mass media is responsible for causing the rise in the number of people with a poor body image, eating disorders, and cosmetic surgeries.
Media such as the internet, broadcasting, and publishing is a way to express opinions and keep up to date with the latest fashion trends. While these trends continue to go on, new trends are thought of, the trends may be a little tricky to keep up with even for celebrities. While the thought of being perfect for society, cause many adolescents to breakdown for following the false beliefs of society. Some people may use the media to be updated on important news. On the other hand, others believe the media is a horrible setting, resulting in adolescent to do whatever it takes to become just like them, poisoning their minds to become something they are not. The media produces bad influences for body image and messes with adolescents’ minds.
