In her book, she broke her live into three stages. The first being searching for meaning, the second being natural happiness, and the last being Love is Measure. Each part of her life has such a strong impact on everyone around her, and in everything she did. Dorothy Day was an extremely selfless person, and lived her life giving to others.
Dorothy’s End times November 20th, 1980 Dorothy passed away in the evening, after suffering from a failing hart. Dorothy left behind a great legacy. She touched the lives of so many, and will never be forgotten. In Dorothy’s last few years, she didn’t slow down. Dorothy suffered a long time from a bad hart in her elder years, but didn’t let that stop her. She was arrested again for protesting when she was in her late 70’s. Dorothy gave her final speech in August of 1976, just a few years before her passing. Throughout Dorothy’s life she loved to read the bible, Psalms, the Gospels, and the Sermon on the Mount, where what she lived her life for, and what she based her beliefs on. She lived her life like the Apostle Paul, and did so by always praying. Dorothy’s expressed a few times that her favorite bible chapter was Psalm. The bible verse known to be one of her favorites, “Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all my being, bless God's holy name" (Psalm 103:1.).
