The next conference I would plan too attend is the New Jersey Emergency Preparedness Association conference. The conference is made to give better training and be prepared for a emergency response. I selected this activity because it is important to be trained as a first responder until EMTS arrive. As a recreation therapist I will give better service by being the first help for someone having a stroke, falls down, faints or has a heart attack .By having this training it can help create good emergency management programs to decrease death and serious injuries. The social event which I attended was the T-Shirt Signing Dance. The T-Shirt Signing Dance took place August 19th from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM in the PEC. Everyone arrived around 9:00 PM, some halls earlier than others, and began filing into the PEC. There were refreshments available at the concession stand, and a tarp was over the gym-floor for everyone to socialize on. The DJ stand was towards the back of the gymnasium, and for the first 30-45 minutes the lights were on so that everyone could sign each others shirts and socialize. After 45 minutes of seeing many new faces, the lights turned off and everyone began dancing. I appreciated how the lights stayed on for so long so that everyone could talk to each other. I also enjoyed the shirt-signing
Tami Lynn wanted to know if we have a local chapter or any events planned for Florida. I looked at the events page and did not find anything listed, however, I did send her a list of our NMHP partners since we are not located in FL.
