As a counselor I identified the self initial of Doug volunteer and seeking help for his drug treatment issue. A counselor must still maintain the Federal, state laws, regulations code of ethics legal restrictions to protect the client confidentially. To release information a counselor must have a Judge court order, client signed release of information or client is a threat, harm to self and others to release information. As a counselor we still protect our client in a public setting. The established request of his probate officer will be decussed with state legal counsel, my supervisor and Doug once decision has made with my superiors. I thought your discussion post this week was great. After looking at exercise 4-4 I completely agree with you that using PRN nurses and working with float nurses is such a smart idea. Decreasing discharge teaching time like the manager wants to do on the unit is unsafe and unethical to patients. The nurses on the unit are doing their part by providing excellent patient care, but reducing education can lead to dangerous outcomes for patients in the long run. Provision 3 of the ANA Code of Ethics (ANA, 2015) states that nurses should promote, advocate, and protect the rights, health, and safety of every patient. By implementing your proposed thoughts I really do believe wait times and patient satisfaction could certainly improve. There are always
Within this scenario, Mark is a pre-service teacher that aspires to make an impact on his students’ lives. On this note, Mark builds a connection with a reclusive student named Laurel. This sparks controversy amongst the school community as Laurel insists that Mark is her ‘friend’ and begins to share inappropriate information with him. With good intentions, Mark does not want to diminish Laurel’s newfound confidence. Conversely, Mark is unsure of his professional responsibilities in this situation.
Military social workers are faced with unique challenges, as they have to not only follow the NASW Code of Ethics, but also the mission of the military. A social worker faced with this scenario has an ethical dilemma, as it involves the ethical issues of self-determination, as well as privacy-confidentiality. According to the NASW Code of Ethics, social workers encourage clients’ self-determination and help improve clients’ abilities and opportunity to change and to address their own needs (2008). The social worker in the scenario is faced with another dilemma, if they report the drug use will this cause harm to the client.
In order for Steve to make an ethical decisions he has to consider his values and principles. One of the major values Steve must consider is his value of respect for life. Due to the fact that Debra is pregnant, Steve is actually treating two patients and two lives. While making the decision as to whether or not to send Debra to the perinatologist, Steve must think about if he doesn’t how it will affect both Debra and the baby. Steve must also consider the double effect as one of the principles. The double effect states, “sometimes it is permissible to cause a harm as a side effect of bringing about a good result” (McIntyre, 2004). In Steve's case with Debra, this could work either way. Steve could either refer Debra to the perinatologist
For the CRCC Code of Ethics it can better guide individuals in this certain situation. After reviewing the CRCC Code of Ethics there was several areas of CRCC Code of Ethics which could be applicable in this situation. The first section that could be applicable would be Part A section 3 of which will allow the counselors to form a limitation, rights and guidance for the client. For example in this situation the child is not adjusting to school and by forming a guideline for the student it can show how the student could better cope. The next section that could be applicable would be Part A section 4 of which avoiding harm to the client. For example this student did acquired a spinal cord inquiry and having a hard time adjusting to school however by being a recent graduate student the values and beliefs might be different versus someone whom has been on the job for a couple of years. Another area of the CRCC Code of Ethics that could give guidance would be all of section B. Since in this area of the CRCC Code of Ethics is based upon some of the most important aspects of dealing with clients which are the confidentiality, privileged, communication and privacy of the clients.
As per my point of view, YES, Humphreys did wrong and he go against the code of ethics. He really did a lot of things wrongly which were inappropriate for every people. He shouldn’t have follow the other men secretly and get their licensee number. Also, he shouldn’t have impersonate himself and visit other men’s home with false and ostensible reasons. If I was a men followed and interviewed by the Humphreys, I would have behave inappropriate with him because he was not doing an appropriate things by disguise himself to get other people’s personal things. We know that every people have own personal space ,and no one likes to be interfered by other people. So, as like as other, I will never let myself to be known and followed by a people like
Scenario four of the text (Mackenzie & Mackenzie, 2010, p. 122) poses at least two ethical dilemmas. Under the Tennessee Code of Ethics for Educators (Tennessee, n.d.), educators have the obligation to protect students from situations that might cause harm. Following the obligations to the profession, educators must not “knowingly make false or malicious statements” about a colleague. The teacher in the scenario faces ethical obligations under both principles, and the way the issue is handled must protect both parties from harm if possible.
Supertowne is a nationwide superstore that is planning on opening stores in Canada and Mexico and in the future in many other countries. The management of the company should be aware that there will be cultural differences in perceiving the ethics. Therefore it would be a good idea to write a uniform code of ethics for the whole company. This would eliminate arguments like the one between Matt from the USA and Marry from Canada. As stated in Inc. (2010, para. 5), “there's no such thing as a business being too small to benefit from a code of ethics”, so no matter how much Supertowne has already expanded they should implement a code of ethics. However, since the conflict has already happened, I assume that such a code was not written up yet.
As a social work undergraduate, we have several queries regarding why it is so important to follow the NASW code of Ethics and values that relate to human diversity, with regard for the worth and dignity of all persons, as applied to a specific case where we are delivering social work. It is very essential to recognize the five core values of social work, service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, and integrity and competence on our occupation of social work. Today, we have chosen two areas and situations of how we are going to deal with our biases and our challenges while working as social workers, by employing the NASW code of Ethics and values that relate to human diversity, with regard for the worth and dignity of all persons.
Potential ethical issues with this case is the sexuality of the clients but Human service professionals provide services without discrimination or preference based on age, ethnicity, culture, race, disability, gender, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status. All written client information that is shared with other professionals, except in the course of professional supervision, must have the client 's prior written consent. A legal issue is the fact that Reggie is physical with Todd and although it was the past, if it happened again I must keep in mind If it is suspected that danger or harm may occur to the client or to others as a result of a client 's behavior, the human service professional acts in an appropriate and professional manner to protect the safety of those individuals. This may involve seeking consultation, supervision, and/or breaking the confidentiality of the relationship. Also Reggie smokes marijuana which is not good for urine tests with his parole officer along with Todd’s cocaine use. Human service professionals protect the client 's right to
First adopted in 1914, the code of ethics for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the model for professional conduct for all ASCE members. The code of ethics is an excellent model as it is broken down into eight canons for further understanding. The purpose of each canon is to serve as a guide and reminder for professional engineers that they are to have the moral and ethical integrity the profession calls for at all times while holding safety paramount. The ASCE code of ethics is very informative and insightful because although each canon does not go into great depth, the canons leave room for interpretation under different situations.
"Our results indicate that the informal methods ("manager sets an example" or "social norms of the organization") are likely to yield greater commitment with respect to both employee attitudes than formal methods ("training courses on the subject of ethics") (Adam, et al, 2004).
The formal definition of ethics is as follows, moral principles that govern a person’s behaviour or the conducting of an activity or alternatively the branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles. (Ethics definition: dictionary.com, 2014)
