“The most common term for “servant” is doulas, which means “slave”. Not surprisingly, doulous was a title of humiliation in the ancient world. People frowned upon the idea of being subservient, of putting a master’s interests before their own” (Jonhston.1999 p,76) In addition the word servant fits better with Christians, than the word slave. What I think Johnston meant by saying,” While it’s hard to play second fiddle, we find that it’s easy to fake servant hood; is that no one likes to be in the background, or second behind anything. I agree with Johnston, only because it’s our nature to think that way and we will learn in due time, that our Father should forever be first in everything. In this day and age, fake is a big part of so
They indicate the Ten Commandments, taking note of that "Thou shalt not desire thy neighbor's home, ... nor his attendant, nor his maidservant. " In the New Testament, Paul gave back a runaway slave, Philemon, to his lord, and, in spite of the fact that servitude was boundless all through the Roman world, Jesus never took a stand in opposition to it. Guards of servitude swung to the courts, who had ruled, with the Dred Scott Decision, that all blacks — not simply slaves — had no legitimate remaining as people in our courts — they were property, and the Constitution secured slaveholders' rights to their property. Protectors of bondage contended that the establishment was divine, and that it conveyed Christianity to the pagan from over the sea.

The writer means that compared to a man with excessive wealth being honorable and respected, the man that is penniless cannot call himself his own master. This implies that while the man with wealth is the ruler, the penniless man is the one being ruled. The man with no money cannot call himself his own
According to Beverly, what were the most important differences between servants and slaves? Male servants and slaves’ differences include clothing and food. White female servants do not put in work out doors. They have a law that make working in the ground tithables. That means you have to pay one tenth tax on them. On the other hand, female slaves do work out doors also, they do not have a law stating anything about taxes.
Furthermore, another interesting point in this relation lies in the passiveness of such a low position. A person in a low position is unprotected by himself, but by becoming a servant to another person in a higher position he begins to play a role in his own right and at last controls his master. This master-servant relationship uttered by Lee reveals that once he has gotten employment by his master, even a helpless person who has little social function by himself not only begins to fulfill his own function but also gains predominance over his master. Consequently, this means that in this relationship a master is no longer a master and a servant is also no longer a servant. Eventually in this work this relationship results in the fact that Lee actually controls Adam in every situation.

feel that they were human beings. This was blasphemous doctrine for a slave to teach;
A slave up to this point in history was considered to be unfortunate and not inferior. In the ancient world,
Slave, I before reasoned with you, but you have proved yourself unworthy of my condescension. Remember that I have power; you believe yourself miserable, but I can make you so wretched that the light of day will be hateful to you. You are my creator, but I am your master; obey (152)!
On December 15th, 1971, the first X amendments to the Constitution went into affect. The first X amendments to the constitution were known as the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment was written by James Madison because the American people were demanding a guarantee of their freedom. The First Amendment was put into place to protect American’s freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and freedom of petition. The First Amendment was written as follows;
Slavery, a word described as the state of one bound in servitude as the property of a household. This description, along with sadness and disbelief gets brought into peoples’ minds as the chilling sensation of the explanations begins to be sought out. The New Testament brings us many different views on how we percept our personal beliefs upon Slavery, and different problems arising as aspects on this topic are perceived by Paul the Apostle in Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon.
After reading all fourth articles, I believe I have a stronger understanding of sociology. However, it is complex and I still have a lot to learn to fully grasp the significance of sociology. One thing I’ve never thought to analyze is social location which is seen in all four articles. Social location is an important concept in sociology because it gives you a better understanding of what category people belong to in society. What makes up a social location is obviously the location, race, religion, gender, and culture.
2When you buy a male Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, but in the seventh he shall go out a free person, without debt.3If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him.4If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master 's and he shall go out alone.5But if the slave declares, "I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out a free person,"6then his master shall bring him before God. He shall be brought to the door or the doorpost; and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and
Electronic devices and technology have taken over our life, but should they be allowed in classrooms? In the past, schools have used different types of methods to gain attention of the students such as overhead projectors or video tapes on television. Some of the schools even use other devices to teach students with methods that the students are most familiar with and more likely to learn from. Many school have iPad’s, they allow kids to take home to do their homework. Even parents, at early age allow their children to use electronic devices to teach them the alphabet through songs or through other interactive games. In the current technological world, some of us might even say that we cannot live without our electrics because they are a big part of our lives.
