In conclusion, we were successful for figuring out the assumptions and reality of DC Chinatown. Yes, the area is a lot safer and has more attractions. However, in order to create a safer environment in Chinatown, the DC government has bought off most of the Asian American neighborhoods and small businesses. The people we interviewed assumed that the Asian American population is large or of the majority based on the Asian themed restaurants and businesses. Through government spending and politics of the city, Washington, DC is using gentrification to push minorities away, and our
There are thousands of Main Streets in the United States. With previous years of their decline there has been a movement to revitalize the Main Streets. Starting in the late 70’s Main Street Programs were starting as an idea. Their goal was to help improve Main Streets and make them rise to the potential they once had. By the 80’s they had created the National Main Street Center and begun by getting states onboard with the idea and by 1990’s 31 states had joined the program. Main Street’s have now become an important part of communities and many are looking towards the revitalization of their downtown. On Wednesday, June 29th, Operation Unite Education and Cultural Arts Center began this year’s State Street Community Beautification project. Youth in Action members and coordinator, Mrs. Cat, will be in the neighborhood of State Street cleaning, weeding and planting around the beautiful trees planted fall of 2014 by Galvin Foundation. Operation Unite started State Street Community Beautification in the summer of 2015. Youth in Action members went door to door informing the homeowners and tenants about the project and asking if they would like to participate in this project just by watering. Different kinds of flowers were planted, but most of them died due to lack of watering. This year, we are only planting zinnia flower seeds and weeding.

Westwind’s Creative Sessions is a program designed to encourage Westwind Elementary School students to take part in the creative arts and to find their self expression. The program offers students after school lessons in music, painting, drawing, and sculpting to help them explore and develop their creative and artistic skills. March 2, 1973 in Bailey’s Crossroads, Virginia, 14 construction workers were killed while 36 others remained injured. This large of a catastrophe didn’t happen due to one failure. One mistake led to another creating a domino effect. The question is, where did it begin? The article about the Skyline Plaza walks the reader through the design and construction phases, and the analysis of failure to better comprehend the pre-construction and construction
Revitalization efforts in downtown areas have gained momentum over the past few decades, this paper is focused on revitalization strategies, recognizing the process of decline, while identifying key strategies used in downtown revitalization efforts over the past fifty years (Faulk 2006). Downtowns, unlike suburban shopping malls or office complexes, evolved slowly over time, responding to changing technologies, social and economic patterns. A city’s identity relies heavily on the image of its downtown, so inevitably cities of all sizes commit themselves to achieving successful downtown redevelopment (Robertson 1995). As I have been reading literature on downtown revitalization a number of strategies and principles have surfaced. Many of

A vital new work environment for National Australia Bank (NAB), 700 Bourke Street is a building composed around the yearning and future work styles of the association, instead of the association adjusting to the imperatives of the building, with the Contract value $333 million. A radical structural intercession started Fourth of April,2011 gave the building's mark triangular shape; a 75,000m2 vertical grounds typology upset to wind up noticeably an on a level plane dislodged super floorplate, bound together by a focal chamber, 310 seat Area Theatre, 250 seat Seminar Room and childcare Centre.
