Dr. John C. Adams drew 15 scale models of the Globe playhouse, as the original might have looked. Dr. Adams wrote many books about the Globe, but his most famous was The Globe Playhouse. The Harvard University Press published it in 1942, and it is now widely recognized as “the most complete and integrated statement that Shakespearean scholarship has yet produced” (Irwin Smith). His main purpose of drawing these blueprints was to put his conclusions into a three-dimensional form by creating a scale model. He finished it in early 1950. Anyone who has adequate knowledge about the Globe can interpret his drawings, but a teenager or young adult who may not be familiar with The Globe would most likely be able to visualize what Adams had planned for
The technical aspects of the production such as scenery, properties and costumes also played a keynote in the productions success. The scenery was fabulous it truly made the play. It was very realistic and extremely vibrant. Almost the entire play was performed in one setting, except for the railcar and dance scenes. The house, the main setting, was magnificent with painstakingly placed detail in every corner. All elements in the house matched wonderfully, for example the furniture, the photos on the wall, the telephone and even the trash can. Little bits of detail were everywhere adding to the beautification of the set, for example the lace decorations on the chairs, the etched glass above the front door and even the Christmas tree.
The scenic design in this play was extraordinary, and I could tell there was a lot of effort put into it. In this play there was a stairway towards the back of the stage. It brought in a new way for the actors to enter/exit the stage. I thought this was very creative idea that was easy to move on, and off stage if needed. There were many scenes that had the moon and the stars in the background. I loved this because it showed the audience when it was night time. I also love looking at the moon and the stars, I feel it creates a very romantic atmosphere. There were times the setting was inside a house or a pub, and then there were times that the setting was outside like the war scene, and the balcony scene. I
Shakespeare was at the height of creative powers, and his theatrical company, the King's Men, was the official royal acting company. He had the large Globe Theater, a large public playhouse on the south bank of the Thames. He would soon open the Blackfriars Theater, a small private
Using certain shapes of materials and color helped the audience understand the scenery of the play, being able to understand what time period this took place. The lighting through the play was great, being able to clearly see in detail for each scene. For example, when the Stage manager introduces the people in Grover's Corner, is was clear and easy to see what type of life style they live. Grisel Torres did an excellent job with the angles, colors, and shadows throughout the play, really emphasizing the emotion and lighting for each scene. Allison Mortimer, the costume designer, did a good job figuring out what each character should wear and allowing the audience to decide which class each character fits in society. The costumes looked like they were somewhat middle class and even looked vintage at times. I wasn't sure if they were recreated or not. Changing costumes for different scenes made it easier to understand the aspect of the scene and allowing the audience to understand what will happen.
Written by journalist Brian Alexander, Glass House is a non-fiction compelling story of an all-American town which is greatly altered when the Fortune 500 company, Anchor-Hocking is sent into a downward spiral. Glass House by Brian Alexander was written and published in 2017 and is a story of the economic side of Anchor-Hocking and how it ultimately brought the downfall on itself and the city of Lancaster, Ohio. Brian Alexanders the Glass House reads like most other books of its kind, it starts out by introducing some of the stories key characters and slowly leads into the main problems the book faces. At the beginning of Alexanders book we, meet Eric Brown and Sam Solomon, both of which have mixed feelings about the state of Lancaster. Brown
The overall play fit well within the space of the theatre because the layout corresponds with the flow of the play. The play itself didn’t need a large or over the top spacing because of its few actors. Throughout the play there were at least two to three actors sharing the stage. The play was done on a proscenium theatre and it is stage outlined by what is called the proscenium arch. This arch is architectural in nature and serves as a picture frame surrounding the view of the action on stage. The layout of the stages gives the actors the ability to use the apron more often especially when there’s a moment between actors or an actor by themselves. For example, there were moment between Jack and Gwendolen that they were in conversation in the apron area also Cecily and Algernon. The actors use that part of the stage because it gives the audience a better view and it flowed with the play itself. The architecture of the theatre adds to the performance by extended the stage to bring about more in the actors to fully enhance the character.
To start of the lighting of the set was great and really added to the tone of the play. Although they did good adding to the tone the sound crew really helped too. For instance when the huge giant fell from the sky the sound effects made it feel a lot more real. One of the more important parts of the play was the costume design. Considering the play was taking place in medieval times they did a great job making their clothes. Some of the best clothing choices were for the ball. After researching a few old times dresses they hit it spot on with the dresses. They also did a great job on the bakers clothing as it showed the average man's clothing back then. Finally we get to the most important technical work of it all the set design. Based on what we've learned about back then it was more than a believable set. The crew did a great job of the background and other points in the play. One of the more unique idea I saw in the play is when they were at grandma's house and the made the wall transparent so we could see what was happening. I've never seen a play do that before so I was impressed. My last point for them is how they did the houses in the beginning of part one and two. For it showed a house and then a wall went up so we could see the
The design of the set fit the play well. The pool was in the center of the stage, so it could be the main focal point; if it was on the far left or right side of the stage, then it would not have made it seem so important. Above the pool is a deck and a doorway way with a tree imprinted on it. Some character like Midas and his daughter entered the stage from here. There were stairs resembling lily pads, to get to the pool from the upper platform. To the upper right of the pool, was a platform that had a picture of clouds to resemble the sky. The platform was a designated area for most of the gods to talk at. I liked how the chandelier in the play was not large. People would have given more attention to a large chandelier changing color rather than paying attention to something else in the play.
The setting on this play all took place in a house. Kilgore College did a great job coming up with this set and it actually looked like the inside of a house. From the kitchen to the bedrooms it was all around a great design. I enjoyed the set of the play and everything was perfect. Every little detail was added and Kilgore did not cut any corners on the set of this play. Every bedroom had posters and the couches had pillows. Small things like that all make the play seem more real and Kilgore did a great job all around with the set.
To begin the explanation you should show them a floor plan of the stage they will be designing for and give them the height dimensions. The assignment for the students is to make another rough floor plan taking into account your comments, the given dimensions, and possible dimensions of their set pieces and indicating them on the drawing. Students will pick one scene from Macbeth and sketch a basic floorplan then render it to scale using the scale theatre template
In the Elizabethan era the globe theater was built by Richard Burbage and his father James Burbage in the eastern end of London called Shoreditch using timber from James Burbage’s previous theatre called “The Theatre” which was built in 1576. James Burbage through this time had a 21 year lease on the land but he was in ownership of the building itself. To the dismay of James and his family the land lord Giles Allen claimed the building as his own after the lease expired. On December of that year while Allen was away for the holidays
In this play all the characters feel trapped. But Travis feels trapped in the house. The reason why is because when he tries doing something he is not aloud to do it. Also his parents have no money so he can not go out and do stuff. His parents are always fighting about the money and what they are going to do with it. That is why Travis feels trapped.
I saw the Hamilton play on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. The play is about Alexander Hamilton’s life. I loved the play. The actors who played Hamilton (Joseph Morales…) and Burr (Daniel Breaker) were amazing at acting and singing. Some professional singers can’t dance and sing at the same time like they did. There was just one mess up during “The Obedient Servant” song. One of the dancers dropped the quill she was supposed to hand to Hamilton, but Morales didn’t react, he just kept going and so did the girl. My favorite scene was the whole “Satisfied” song. They reversed everything and the actors were all in the exact same spots they were minutes before. Then when they moved forward again, they ended in the same spots as when the song started. My
My observation of the shakespeare love's labor's lost at the quiescent theater is that the stage design was not what I expected for a shakespearean play which I assumed would see these big elegant set pieces for the king's court but their was only two shrubs and seem mostly dependent on the lighting I thought this was a good decision because of the lack of scenery paid more attention to the actors because. The costumes the characters wore looked to be of modern attire except I felt that especially Biron that he was the rebel of the group of scholars while the two other associates Longaville and Dumaine who were dressed in debonair attire in contrast to biron who wore a hoodie under his blazer, khaki shorts and ruffled which was really helpful to me because I had a hard time understanding his character but
Once again, when Rue is dead, Katniss gives the Three Finger Salute in front of the camera, meaning her grief and showing her love and gratitude to Rue. People form district eleven where is Rue’s hometown gives the Three Finger Salute back and shows their honor to Katniss. Also, maybe there is no word can be more powerful and proper than this gesture to express everyone’s feeling. Although it seems to be simple, it has obtained everything with love and hope. Until this scene, Katniss’ kindness and courage have already moved all the people and give everyone the hope which means she becomes the figure of hope.
