Dr. King's life exemplified the ethnical moral code of the Beatitudes. What Citizen King represents is the fact that Dr. Martin Luther King developed his life to the Bible by living peacefully to protest the message of love. Matthew 5 talks about Jesus' inauguration address, or simply an introduction speech, to explain how the kingdom of God is functioned when God rebuilds a new creation and Jesus returns to our world. Living under these kingdom laws set the mark for discussing what should be required or established in the kingdom of God. When he talks about the “poor in spirit” in this text, it refers to those who are spiritually distressed in their life's journey. Jesus promoted their reward towards a spiritual blessing after seeing people's lives being taken through the injustice of religious law. Compared to Jesus, Dr. King had a compassionate heart where in return, his life was threatened by the color of skin. He suffered many hardships, trying to overcome the struggle to condemn the government for attacking African Americans. King. Dr. King portrayed himself as Christ in order to endure pain and suffering that the evil nature has brought into this world. Sometimes, it makes people ponder what would happen if Dr. King still live fifty years later. This fearless man stood against the odds and continued to work for the kingdom of Heaven. However, similar to Moses’ life, Dr. King lost his life and never made it to the Promised Land. As life goes on, no one has made it to the Promised Land yet because God is progressing to bless people. Evil nature will promote suffering if people continue to live for God, but he will “bless those who hunger and thirst after righteousness in order to be filled” (Matthew 5:6). What the Beatitudes demonstrate is that people must learn to comprehend the importance of God’s blessing when people are compassioned for one another, showing mercy against neighbors who hurt us, and hoping for a new world of peace and harmony in Heaven. In Citizen King, Dr. King demonstrated them all. These blessings Jesus spoke wasn’t just laws, as scholars would say they are; these were the blessings for His people in order to make the world a better place to live.
