The man on the rooftop was dressed completely in black, from his shoes to the suit he was wearing under his knee-length trench coat. He glanced at his watch. 12:05. In another 10 minutes, he would be done with the deed. He turned quickly, coat flailing in the wind, and headed for the stairwell. Once inside, he grabbed his rifle, and the silencer he had recently acquired. He had been practicing his shooting for several weeks to prepare for this moment. He hurried to the window, made sure no one was watching, though being so late, who would even be looking anyway? He pulled the rifle to his shoulder and waited. Two long minutes passed before he finally saw his target. He took careful aim and squeezed the trigger. Looking through the scope, he saw the man crumple to the ground in a heap. Satisfied that his work was done, the man in black packed up his gun and left through the stairwell, sliding down the ladder to get to his car that he had left in the alley next to the building. …show more content…
Upon seeing the front page, Dr. Watson was immediately intrigued by the story, which read as follows: “Last night, at approximately 12:15, a wealthy business man by the name of Richard White was shot and killed as he was leaving his office. Close friend and associate Clyde Rogers said that White was working late with a client on some financial details last night, which explains why he was there at such a late hour. White was shot through the forehead and was dead before the paramedics even arrived. An investigation is now underway and the authorities are offering a reward for any leads in this
The other sniper is situated on a building on the other side of the street as the Republican Sniper. On top of being shot at, an armored car, of the opposing side, drives up near the Republican sniper’s position. He believes that his position was given up by a local woman who was walking around. The Republican sniper must kill this woman or his life will be in jeopardy. The Republican sniper takes the shot, and kills the woman. However, even after killing the woman, the Republican Sniper is still being shot at. He has to shelter himself, so, making his way to the top floor of the building, he situates himself. The Republican sniper proceeds to have a shootout with the other unknown sniper. The Republican sniper needs a way to kill his opponent, so he devises an ingenious plan. He fakes his death by pretending to be shot in the head. The opposing sniper, thinking he had killed the Republican sniper, makes his way out of his hiding spot. This exposes him, and the Republican sniper has a clear shot. The Republican sniper takes the shot, and sees the body of his opponent falling to the ground. The Republican sniper then goes to examine the dead body of his opponent, and to his horrifying realization, discovers that the man he had just outwitted and killed, was really his brother.
Another letter came out and the killer talked about moving away and that he would never be caught. Again, matched Dr. coworker.
On November 14, 2007, Joe Horn, a sixty-one year old retired man, was at home when he saw two people breaking into his neighbors’ house. Horn then called 911 and retrieved his shotgun. While on the phone with the emergency operator, Horn was told to stay inside and wait for police, but when he saw the two men leaving he ignored the instructions and went to chase them. During the 911 call, the sound of a shotgun being cocked can be heard before Horn shouts, “Move, you’re dead,” and three shots ring out.
The main character in The Sniper was in a fire fight. He shot and killed 3 people. After the fire fight he started to dwell on what he did .In the story it said, “The lust of battle dies in him. He became bitten by remorse.” As a result, “he looked at the smoking revolver in his hand, and with an oath he hurled it to the roof at his feet. The revolver went off… The bullet whizzed past the sniper’s head.” Because of him dwelling, he almost killed himself.
The sniper was inhaling a cigarette on a rooftop when someone launched a fire at him from the opposite side of the street. He managed to escape the shot successfully without any injury or bruises. The sniper also managed to kill two other free staters after that, one man and one woman.
¨Taking off his cap, he placed it over the muzzle of his rifle. Then he pushed the rifle slowly upward over the parapet, until the cap was visible from the opposite side of the street. Almost immediately there was a report and a cap clipped down into the street. Then catching the rifle in the middle, the sniper dropped his left hand over the roof and let it hang, lifelessly. After a few moments he let the rifle drop to the street. Then he sank to the roof dragging his hand with him.¨ (O'Flaherty 3). This quote shows that The Sniper was able quickly think of a way to fool the enemy sniper in order to kill him. ¨The turret opened. A man´s head and shoulders appeared, looking toward the sniper. The sniper raised his rifle and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall. The woman darted toward the side street. The sniper fired again. The woman whiled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter.¨ (O'Flaherty 2). This quote shows that The Sniper was well enough trained, that he was able to take out a man on a turret, and an old woman who had informed the enemies about The Sniper's position. The Sniper had fought off an enemy sniper, an enemy informer, and an enemy on a turret all on his own without any help from anyone
The night was pitch-black. From time to time, a shot exploded in the darkness. They had orders to shoot anyone who could not sustain the pace. Their fingers on the triggers, they did not deprive themselves of the pleasure. If one of us stopped for a second, a quick shot eliminated the filthy dog” (85).
one half of the population trying to leave the city via train and the other half is going to Auschwitz. so we were going to sneak on top instead of going inside we started walking at a slow sneaky past of 2 miles per hour. we had to take out one guard that guard just happened to have a sniper and we just happened to have a silencer built specifically for the sniper (M1 carbine extended mag W/ scope and light) he had.
Watson, a computer developed by IBM, is now being used in hospitals around the world to help diagnose and treat cancer patients. Currently, Watson is being used most closely at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, but also at about eight other hospitals around the world. Watson was brought in to help oncologists with diagnosis because there was a fear that the doctors would not be able to keep up with all of the new medical materials coming out, that information was being improperly communicated or not being taken into consideration, and that about 20% of cancer patients in the U.S. are misdiagnosed. Watson is able to compile data from hundreds and thousands of pages of articles, medical textbooks, and journals to prioritize information
Watson (2011) utilizes this as her first subtitle to begin her paper. Watson (2011) does a magnificent job at employing metacommentary within this subtitle. This subtitle provides a clear and precise account of what the reader can expect. It presents the following paragraphs of text as a crucial point to the overall subject matter of Watson (2011). By explicitly detailing that the reader is about to read “How Clinicians Joke about Patients, Illness and Death” (Watson, 2011, p. 38), the reader can see that this is supporting the main subject matter of the paper: gallow humor in the medical setting. The subtitle also serves as a great summarizing tool for the reader to refer to. Watson (2011) allows her readers to not only approach this subtitle
This paper will talk about Dr. Jean Watson, her theory background, and will provide the concepts of her theory. Furthermore, I will connect the theory to person, health, nursing, and environment of the caring moment and apply a transpersonal relationship and relate these issues within my Practice, skills and experience.
He uses this technique even by using the word sniper which means someone is an excellent shot, and shoots at someone or something from a place of concealment. A rooftop setting is used to conceal the sniper, while pedestrians below him on the street are his targets. As the sniper lies on the roof, he is also protected by the darkness of the night. He lacks a sense of rationality as he reveals himself to his enemy due to his immaturity. This complicates the plot as this a major part of the conflict between a Republican and a Free Stater. He still holds his conviction to be true as he ends the lives of the man that shoots him and an innocent woman. As the sniper shows his pride in his Republican beliefs, he removes those opposing
Bullets began firing in quick bursts against the steel, as they fell down inside the stuffy vehicle. He could hear enraged cries from outside. From the floor beside each other they witnessed dents and holes appearing in the weighty doors, allowing miniscule streaks of light to pass above their bodies, as they braced themselves on the bare flooring. Evidently the vehicle was not bulletproof. Left, right and centre. Beside him, to his right, James spotted that the rays that passed on that side were being blocked.... then coming back. He knew who it was that was making their way, ever so slowly, on the other side of the steel and he knew that the soldiers would find out soon enough too!
As he pulls it out of his pocket he reads the single word he was waiting for. "Go." Thud. Thud Thud. Muffled gun shots fills his ears from the cabin behind. In one swift motion, he stands up and pulls the automatic rifle out of the duffel bag. He fires a shot into the air to grab the attention of the passengers before he starts giving orders. "Everybody get down on the ground! This is a hostage situation!" He can feel every pulse of blood going through his body. Adrenalin kicks in. Exhilarated by the power he has over the situation, he grips the gun tight and fingers the trigger, his knees stop shaking. Contracting his index finger, the gun fires again. More adrenaline shoots through his body. Everything is going exactly to plan, up until he notices how calm and collected the American men seem to be considering the danger of the situation. The smallest speck of doubt flickers across his face. Before he is able to dismiss it, the Americans nod at each other and whisper something. He pulls up his gun and aims at the Americans but before he has the chance they are on him. The sense of control that, before recently, had been flooding his veins has now been replaced with the sinking feeling of doom and regret. Strong, calloused hands grasp his dominant arm. The type of calluses that is only formed after many years of forced labour. His attempts to resist are determined although futile as the gun is already out of his hands. Fingers
Suddenly, his detector began its light beeping. Slowly but surely he moved towards the spot of the beeping coming from his Garret At Pro. Then in pure excitement he reached down to scrap away the leaves but he found nothing. Knowing that whatever the metal detector had found was underground he reached for his shovel. He slowly painstakingly dug the hole in which he thought the bullet rested. When he pushed the dirt aside, he found a three ringed bullet lying on the ground. Then like a child in a candy store he burst out in excitement for he had found his first civil war bullet. Inside his mind a thousand thoughts flashed through like jets breaking the sound barrier. Then in a lust of excitement he moved on through the woods near the
