In 2015 a female student Emma at Columbia University, was raped on her first day of 7her sophomore year by a classmate of hers. When the incident happened, she did not report it at first. Until she met two other women at school who were also raped by the same classmate as her. They all went to court and all three cases were dismissed because they were treated as single case's. Seven months after she reported the rape incident her hearing took place. The investor in her case did not take down important information like the position she was raped which was anal. Her hearing panelist were not even trained, one woman kept asking how was it possible for anal rape to happen. These schools can get into major legal problems, There is an argument that in these the dress codes can/could be in violations of Title 9. Since they target female students on how they dress and not the male students (Christen, Stuff Mom Never Told You). Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states: Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that receives federal funding. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment, rape, and sexual assault. “We have received over a hundred testimonies from girls and young women who are affected by the dress codes and feel a strong sense of injustice.” (TIME). Females are not a distraction, females are never going to be equal to males the school systems are in a way distributing towards what females wear.
