I don’t think that anyone would argue that this was a will written short story. Rick Bass gives you the perfect amount of imagery to let your imagination run with it, but you still know exactly what he is trying to convey with his writing. His character development was remarkably good, especially considering how short his story was. For me personally this story lacked a climax, everything just sizzled out unceremoniously. The conflict between Jacks alcoholic father and Rick’s father never surmounted to anything. Jacks father seemed very bitter about having to part ways with his beast of a fish to start with, but then a gold pocket watch was found in the belly of the fish and jacks father shrugs it off. You can’t tell me a gun toting man in
This graphic novel adaptation of WWI made my history teacher's day. I brought it to school because it's one of my all-time faves. Who wouldn't like a history-packed comic book featuring European countries represented as animals with hats? From the assassination of the Archduke to Germany's surrender, the complete story of the war to end all wars takes center stage in probably my favorite history book ever.

James Baldwin’s short story “The Rockpile” is set in mid 1900s in Harlem. The story focuses on two brothers, John the eldest and Roy his younger sibling, and a mysterious rockpile near their home where neighborhood boys go. In the story, Roy decides to go without his mother’s permission, and he ends up getting hurt by a can one of the other boys threw. This main event is the catalyst for the remainder of the story. Baldwin sets the stage for the development of femininity and masculinity in the story quite early on by how the two brothers are characterized by the narrator. Through characterization, Baldwin is able to affect the moral and ethical reasoning, deciding right from wrong, of the readers to empathize with the more feminine
It's another regular day in Tooler Town, December 2057. The workers were in the field; the breezy wind together with the smell of nature. The 3rd bell went off. All the workers are directed straightly to the Floating Trains. They are dropped off in their homes and are given their daily reward. It's every day the exact same thing.
Kendrick was relieved to find himself alone in this area of the drilling platform above the calm sea, on such a brèagha early morning as the sun started to rise above the horizon and the morning mist. This was the first time he had any peace since his shift on the rig started two days ago. Most of the men were still in the bunks, and only a small night crew was at work and which kept the rig running smoothly. Soon, the day crew would be up and in the mess hall, getting their breakfast before starting their work shift.
Mr. Skelly’s coal-stained hand twisted and turned, came and went, and cut my baby-skin like hooves. Sweat mixed with soot covered his Frankenstein-face and slopped down it like thick, black streams of sorghum molasses. His neck twitched. His face went grayish black, then emptied like whatever it was that had been pinned up inside of him for eons, suddenly was out.
I hear what you are saying, but that's only one side of the story, but I lost all respect for Tiffany when she stop coming to see Tey. Shamel did not have his mom, Yan and Sarah did not have their mother and I never thought Tiffany would just stop coming to see Tey. I would have bet my life on it. When Tey is crying because his mother wasn't at his game and then he calls her in the morning asking where are you and you make zero effort to come the next week or the weekend after, I cannot respect you. After Tey did that I had to write her letting her know he did that on his own and not prompted by me (I had to beg her to come see him). This woman stop coming to see her son to stay with a man, I can careless about the guy, but when time with him
The wind seraph has bitterness on his lips as he drinks. “Just making him leave isn’t fair, but if that’s the case then I’ll take Dezel and find him somewhere else to live.”
It was originally a “Savory Seventeen,” but Clara didn’t have enough paper to fit the word “seventeen” on the banner, so she opted for “Savory Twelve.” When Clara invited me, Dakoury, Camilla Guo, and Andi Cheng to her birthday party, I was bogged down with homework. However, I lied to my parents and told them I didn’t have that much work to do, before I accepted the invitation. I didn’t want to regret or miss out on anything. The whole day was surreal, because that day differed the most from my regular routine. Dakoury, Camilla, Andi, and I boarded the train in Andover together, and we got off on Clara’s stop. We walked to her house, and were greeted by her high school friends as well as Kate Burba, a friend I hadn’t seen for two years. Kate hugged me and kissed me on the head as a way of greeting me.

A few years ago, a high school student named Reid was seemingly on top of the world. Reid was a sophomore at a renowned private Catholic High School. Reid was very intelligent and combined with his determined work ethic, was a straight “A” student. In addition, Reid was a gifted athlete having made the varsity basketball team as a freshman and starting on that team as a sophomore. To those that did not know Reid, he was a lucky kid, someone who had it all. Maybe even someone they wish they could be like. Many students were jealous of Reid.
