1) What are some strategies that Drug cartels use to be successful in distributing their products?
There are probably endless ways that drug cartels smuggle or distribute their products. One way is hiding it in their cars while crossing over the border for example they can cut open the seats to the car and put them there . One event I heard about while reading an article is that someone hid drugs under gear mechanism of a car. Another way they may smuggle drugs is on the body, they can tape it onto their body and cross the border. Tunnels are another way drugs are smuggled they are typically small enough for one person to crawl in . From watching Drug Cartels i learned there are also submarines which i found very interesting and also catapults
Drug cartels have arisen as a major crisis for the future in the Americas. Individuals indulge themselves on drugs for many reasons such as tradition, attempting to escape poverty, and generating revenue for rebellious activities. Drug trafficking has proven to be ludacris, with the increasing involvement of corrupt government officials in their distribution. The UN has stated the approximate estimation of profits of drug trade is roughly around $150 billion alone in the Americas, which accounts slightly less than 5% GDP. Currently the most common way of drug transport is land through Central American countries like Mexico, and it eventually crosses over the border to the United States.
The United States agency of drugs have discovered that for all of the illegal drugs consumed in the nation has been transported by the Mexican cartels. “U.S. federal officials say that the mexican cartels operate in dozens of U.S. cities and analysts say they are moving to consolidate their control of the entire supply chain of illegals drugs”(Schwartz, 1). The government of the United States have been conducting the investigation to now if the cartels are north. Many big cities today have a piece of the cartel organization working there and also producing drugs to distribute within the city. According to the investigation done by the DEA and U.N officials “Mexican cartels have established command - and - control centers to orchestrate cocaine shipments by sea and air along the still wild caribbean coast with the help of local authorities”(Booth, 2). All though that the cartel are moving to the United States they are still leaving command center in mexico to conduct shipments by ground or any other shipments overseas. The cartel is able to transport such quantities of drugs with help of the local authorities and other corrupt government officials.
criminal groups operating from Mexico smuggle cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, amphetamines, and marijuana into the United States.
Mexican drug cartels have been expanding its portfolios to include doing business in sex trafficking. The Zetas are the most feared drug cartel in Mexico’s drug, sex trafficking trade, and etc.; the Zetas are a criminal army made up of defectors from the Mexican military. Anybody who crosses them will more than likely get their heads chopped off or won’t live to see another day.
1979 the Medellin drug bosses turned their attention to control the wholesale distribution in the
It is no secret that drugs are prevalent in every nation in the world. However, how do these illegal drugs move throughout the world? Drug traffickers have gotten very creative in the methods they use to transport drugs across state line and country’s borders. Major drug cartels of Mexico recruit children with the promises of fast easy money and little risk of detection by police. They use children for several reasons; they are less suspicious, can travel on planes without adults, they create a “family” look so no attention is drawn to a group. What the children do not know is they are expendable to the cartel, and if the transport does not go according to plan, their lives are on the line.
"A businessman, and a business woman sit across from each other in negotiations. The man proposes four thousand pesos, and the woman says she can't afford that much. She counter-offers with twenty-five hundred pesos. The man agrees and leaves. This was a weekly payment for the protection of the woman's local business against the Juarez Cartel." (Lacey, M. 2010).
The document then discusses how the administration will handle the cartels. The main policy will include strengthening federal law and “ensur(ing) that federal law informant agencies give a high priority and devote sufficient resource to efforts to identify, interdict, disrupt, and dismantle transnational criminal organizations…including through the investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of members.” Trump wants more federal agencies to share information and coordinate with other federal law enforcement in order to dismantle cartels. The people that would lead this combined effort are the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and Secretary of Homeland Security. The federal agencies that would help combat cartels include, the Organized
As Gallo mentions “In a new 48-page federal indictment, U.S. Authorities charge El Chapo and his top lieutenant, Ismael “el mayo” Zambada, with ordering 12 killings and dozens of other acts of violence to promote the Sinaloa cartel’s criminal activities. The two drug kingpins ordered the killings of Mexican law enforcement agents, members of the military, public officials, and rival drug cartel leaders, the indictment alleges”
Imagine living with your family and having a fear of leaving your house or even being in it? Many Mexican citizens are being killed by the narcotics in Mexico. Mexicans are not living in peace in their cities. Narcs never really had a time where it started, it always been around, of course it has increased, but there is no specific date or year. Important groups of the cartel is the Sinaloa cartel, the Beltran Leyva Organization and many more. This issue is important because it is ruining many families in Mexico, uncles, fathers, sons, daughters, mothers and aunts are being murdered. This informs you on what is hurting the heart and families of Mexico. For me it is important because I 'm Mexican and it hurts to see those in Mexico, losing their loved ones.
Recognized as one of the most fearless and violent cartels in all of Mexico, Los Zetas was brought forth by a need for personal security in the Gulf Cartel. This former hit man/security style operation, active since 1997, has since grown into its own ruthless and violent organization becoming the second most powerful cartel and easily the most feared in all of Mexico. Heavily trained and armed, members of Los Zetas are set apart from other cartels because of the level of brutality they are willing to administer to those who cross them, though they had initially hoped that by being more intimidating they would have to fight less. It is their command of the drug market, their lack of fear in using violent tactics, and the
Drug trafficking has been an ongoing epidemic in the United States, as well us other countries for an unimaginable amount of time. Illegal drugs varying from heroin and cocaine are primarily the main drugs that get smuggled in the United States from South America. Even marijuana and methamphetamine have been popular in the drug smuggling “industry”. These gangs go to a variety of different extents to get the job done. Drug trafficking increases the violence levels These drugs have been smuggled through the Southwest Border since the 1970s and are attempting to expand the distribution of those drugs into eastern U.S. markets. The countries of drug production have been seen as the worst affected by prohibition. In many countries worldwide, the illegal drug trafficking can be directly linked to high violent crimes. This is especially true in third world countries, but has still been seen as an issue for many developed countries all over the world. Drug trafficking increases the risk of violence and crime due rise of addiction along with an increase of death. It also effects the along with correctional system effects.to its high costs, Nearly all of the heroin produced in Mexico is destined for distribution in the United States. Organized crime groups operating from Mexico produce, smuggle, and distribute various illegal drugs after trafficking them across the US border. Trafficking groups that operate from Mexico tend to avoid penalties by their stealthy methods of smuggling
Drug trafficking has become an increasingly growing problem in the world today. Illegal drug trade is a worldwide black market consisting of production, distribution, packaging, and sale of illegal substances. Although today’s "War on Drugs" is a modern phenomenon, drug problems have been a common problem throughout history. The market for illegal drugs is massive, when we consider the estimated global drug trade value is worth $321 billion (Vulliamy). The most drug trafficking happens on the border between Mexico and the United States. Former Mexican President Felipe Calderon said, “Our neighbor is the largest consumer of drugs in the world. And everybody wants to sell him drugs through our door and our window”
Drug cartels have grown and expanded throughout the interior and exterior of states for many years. The way drugs started to be introduced to Mexico, Colombia, and other places around the world was believed to be a myth. It was a tale that was known by many through storytelling, which over the years turned into an actual realistic issue. One of the most known cartels that existed for a long time was The Medellin Cartel. It became a subculture of its own, creating a world full of violence, women, money, firearms, death but most importantly power and fear. Located in Colombia this brutal subculture will show how they become one of the wealthiest subculture in the world surpassing even its own country’s riches.
Before the transportation of narcotic there is an extensive production process. For example, cocaine production begins in the forest of Colombia. Colombia produces over half the world’s cocaine. They pay farmers to produce the cocoa leaf and transform it into a paste then a powder. Growing cocaine is just as risky as smuggling it. To combat the growth of the cocoa leaf, Colombian drug enforcement destroy the cocoa farms. They light farms on fire to deter famers from growing it. Law enforcement is not the only danger in drug trafficking. Drug cartels leaders are brutal, and enforce their rule through murder. For example, if people don’t want to participate in they just remove the people putting fear in the entire community.
