Is drumming really difficult to me? In my opinion, drumming can be difficult at some times, and understanding the concept of drumming wasn’t easy at the start. When I first started trying to play the drums, I didn’t understand how to do it. I had no idea that drumming even had different styles and beats. It took me quite awhile to fully comprehend how complex it really is. Drumming is not easy at first, can be very complex, and requires a lot of practice. Learning to play the drums was not easy when I first started figuring out how to play a beat. First of all, I didn’t know which pieces I was supposed to play. After observing another person play the drums, I saw that I needed to play the snare (like in a marching band), hi-hat (two cymbals put together), and bass drum (the big drum on the bottom), and this combination became my first beat. Trying to play the bass drum with the hi-hat and snare confused me. I was fine playing the snare and hi-hat, but I always messed up when I tried adding the bass drum. I ended up having CJ play the bass drum while I played the hi-hat and snare, which lasted for over two months until I could play it myself. I was proud to finally be able to play a beat, however I never knew about the many different different beats that you could play. …show more content…
First, there are different styles of drumming. How I play can depend on different things, such as what the song itself is like. For example, one song could have a repeating, simple beat, but another song could have a drum solo and super complex variations to the beat. There are also different speeds or tempos for drumming. There may be songs that incorporate slow, easy-to-play beats, and there could be other songs that have very fast drumming, such as heavy metal. Due to the varieties of drumming styles and speeds, it takes practice to get used to the different
Different instruments for these songs included; bugles, drums, and fifes. The fife and drum dates back to the 1530’s Swiss Army. It arrived from Europe into the colonial America and instantly became a traditional music for the military. Fife and drums were used as a way of communication in battle. Drummers had to learn 39 different beats. 24 were used for marching cadence and 14 were for general use. The brass band era became popular in the 1850’s.
The trumpet dance is not complex and is easy for new trumpet players to learn. When performing the dance there is a specific time you to present the dance. The dancing occurs when the rest of the band is playing and the trumpets are resting. Also, you must do it in time to the rhythm the band is performing. To actually perform the dance, you put your pointer and pinky finger up with the rest down. Then, you bend your wrist and nod your head up and down to the corresponding rhythm the band is playing. This simple task creates a connection with the whole trumpet
As this semester is coming to an end in DAN 130, we were given our final assignment. For this project we were asked to get in groups of 4-5 students and create a two-minute dance incorporating the movement styles we have been taught. Since we are approaching the Christmas holiday we decided to incorporate that into our dance by choosing the song “Drummer Boy,” by Justin Bieber. We applied ballet, jazz, hip hop, and a few moves we learned on studio days into our routine. We also recorded ourselves for practice and spent time outside of class perfecting this performance.
Obo Addy was a worldwide figure, he was so well know that he got a job opportune to work at Lewis and Clark College, and there is where he taught a music class for 10 years. Imperialism has two sides, one side is where it actually helps people and other countries the other is where it can harm the people that live in the country that needs or may not need help. Imperialism is a policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Easier said, a large nation or country takes over a small country to either help them or to get their recourses and land. It has also changed many people’s lives in the past. For example if one of the smaller countries are going down hill imperialism can take over and solve all of the problems that it has.
Our seven piece kit is being sold at the same price as those offered by Pearl and Tama, while our eight piece kit is $100 cheaper than Tama’s eight piece kit. Ours is $50 more expensive than Pearl’s eight piece kit; however we feel our product to be vastly superior to theirs, and therefore do not anticipate this slight difference as being problematic. We will also be offering out 100 kits initially to established artists as endorsements. These kits will be distributed, free of charge, to 42 pre-selected musicians, in the hope that by being used by these artists, other musicians who are influenced by these drummers will be eager to also purchase a kit.
This study examines the impact of the high school percussion curricula on college students pursuing percussion performance degrees. Percussion in general is utilized in elementary school for pedagogical purposes and is often situated within a concert or marching setting for middle and high schools. Marimba is a type of a percussion instrument consisting of a set of bars struck with mallets. As illustrated by Eyler (1985), the development of the marimba ensemble within university programs reflects the growing popularity of advanced marimba studies where students comprehensively study traditional solo marimba literature within the context of the overall percussion studies. Morris and Thompson (1989), however, argue that solo marimba and four
It’s not easy braving the world’s wicked ends, and yet it’s natural for me. Being a small rodent doesn’t make it easy but I manage. And yet I cant manage the fact that I went out to collect acorns and ended up here, in all places. As a squirrel it only ever got to go one of two ways: you either shake the tree or the tree shakes you. And somehow, I’m doing both at the same time.
I chose the “mobile phone for my “ Different Drummer” project. Recently obtaining one for myself I am surprised how quickly I adjusted to our norms of society today, in fact I was a bit disgusted. I wanted to learn why we have changed this much and how. I wanted to learn where we were before this time period where nearly everyone can be contacted anywhere just through radio and digital signals. In the “older days” cell phones or mobile phones were as big as half a foot long and one fourth of a foot wide. Cell phones back then were also very scarce whereas, today nearly every adult teenager and some children have them. So how did we go from scarcity to abundance in such a short amount of time?
B. The relevance of this is that everyone loves music. Drumming is part of making music.

So you 're thinking about learning guitar? Maybe your in your first few days and can 't quite get your fingers to reach all the strings at the same time. Perhaps you are having trouble getting the rhythm you want. Well in this article I am going to give you a few key tips for beginning guitar players that will hopefully help you. Playing guitar is something that most people would like to be able to do. Just about everyone likes the sound and anyone who can play, instantly becomes popular simply because of that. Now, there are some people who are naturally gifted musicians and can pick up any instrument and learn it. However there is hope even for those of us who are not! Anyone can learn guitar with a little bit of discipline and practice. Which is tip number one: Practice every day! If you practice every day, even if only ten minutes, you will very soon see results. You 're fingers will begin to get callused and not hurt when you play. They will become more limber and your rhythm will improve as well. Keep in mind that no great musician started great. They had to learn and practice hard into order to get to the level of playing skill that they have today. So don 't expect to be there in your first week, or even first month. Tip number two is for learning rhythm. I have found that the best way to do so is to pick just one simple song with a simple rhythm. Then practice only that song until you have mastered the rhythm. It may take a little while and it may be frustrating
My creative side is my art and my music. I love to create my own world with drawing and I love creating music with my beatbox techniques. Both of these things allow me to express what I am thinking and what I am feeling. They both also help quench my boredom, when there is nothing to do but wait for time to expire. Drawing is more of my focus, because drawing is going to lead me into doing animations, which I want as my career. It is something I believe I am going to enjoy in my future. Beatboxing, on the other hand, is just going to be a secondary thing for me to do, so it is more of a hobby that I will do just for enjoyment, and it is a sort of icebreaker for me. It is more about entertainment when it comes to beatboxing than taking it seriously,
Have you hit any road blocks? For example: not practised enough, missed some classes, taking longer than you thought to learn a skill.
“There are approximately one hundred and six different percussion instruments in the world (Hamby).” The bands of the late 1900s were starting to explore with more diverse genres, more percussive instruments, and getting more creative. School marching bands became popular in the 1900s by playing during halftime of football games, playing multiple of the same percussion instruments all in time, and getting various types of people to work together towards one similar goal. Modern era bands, two thousands-present, have gone and created some of their genres with their percussion instruments, switched to electronic drums only or with acoustic drums too, and have tried to throw-back to later times and styles of music. The use of percussion in school marching bands, bands of the 1900s, and bands of the modern era very wonderfully in instruments and styles.
