The report aims to illustrate and evaluate the Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes, procedures and initiatives taken by Further Education Providers, with Newcastle College FE as example for providing excellent educational services for students. Further, the report gives a personal review and analysis the role of tutor in the quality cycle
Definition of quality assurance
According to the International Organisation for Standardisation “Quality assurance is a set of activities intended to establish confidence that quality requirements will be met” (Praxiom, 2011)

The LSC Framework for Excellence (FfE) is a document which is strongly influenced by the view of learners and employers about College educational effectiveness and is an in important factor in LSC funding (Wood .J. and Dickinson, J. 2011)
Validity and reliability of data
Course Self assessment procedure is a strategic management approach from the top to bottom to satisfy merely policy procedure (OFSTED inspection grades).
OFSTED inspections create an artificial learning environment, where learners feel not free take part at the lesson, which has a negative impact on the tutor. In addition inspections of teaching and learning in the classroom are not long enough to give a complete opinion on teachers.
Learners are stakeholders too and their views recorded through an internal electronic survey questionnaire. It should be adapted to with low literacy level and for those whose first language is not English, it is difficult to understand the questions of the surveys to give an honest opinion about their experience in teaching and learning at the college. Student’s opinion is also districted by questions and answers (only offers students to select between agree/ disagree or I don’t know).
