During his teenage years, Ramirez committed a staggering amount of misdemeanors and felonies that consisted of possession, breaking and entering, theft, and auto theft. Once the teenager grew into his adult years, he still performed misdemeanors; however, the felonies became more deadly and sadistic. Around 28 victims unfortunately encountered him. Some of the people from the 28 experienced horrible events, but they were able to live through his discretion. However, thirteen to fourteen other people died by his hand. In June 28, 1984, Jennie Vincow, elderly woman of age seventy-nine, lived in Glassell Park, Los Angeles. His first intention was to steal her valuables; however, when he found nothing to take, he attacked Vincrow with rage. The man stabbed the woman repeatedly in the chest and slashed her throat from ear to ear (Carlo, 1996). He then had intercourse with her body (Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker, n.d.). Her son, Jack Vincow, discovered his mother’s body later that day and called the police. The evidence at the scene included blood in the sink and fingerprints on the window that he used to enter the woman’s apartment. For a couple months, he stayed dormant, but he resumed his criminal streak in the next year.
His next set of crimes occurred on March 17, 1985 with Maria Hernandez, and Dayle Okazaki, first, then Veronica Yu soon after (The People v. Richard Ramirez, 2006). While he drove around, he spotted Hernandez, age 22, on the freeway and followed the woman to her condo located in Rosemead. Okazaki, age 32, also lived there as her roommate.
