This report is to formally request to be considered for the position of Sergeant within the patrol division of the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to working for Sumner County, I worked five and a half years for the Sedgwick County Detention Facility, and two years with Wichita State Police Department as a commissioned law enforcement officer. The knowledge I obtained while working for Sedgwick County and Wichita State proved to be invaluable throughout my law enforcement career. While working for Sedgwick County, I learned interpersonal communication skills that taught me how to communicate with not only co-workers but members of the community. Out of all of the training I have received interpersonal communication skills have proven to be the most valuable. In addition, I received training from Sedgwick County that includes crisis intervention, instructor development program, leadership training, and was a field training deputy for three years. The crisis intervention training has benefited my career by not only teaching me warning signs for mental health illness in the individuals I have dealt with. But also warning sings in coworkers due to the high stress of the job we work in. I attended …show more content…
I have also had the anguish of working for some bad supervisors. It is my personal opinion a bad supervisor can turn good employees into negative, non-motivated employees. But on the flip side a good supervisor can balance a shift, keep morale up and have a good working relationship with the shift. I believe that if I am given the opportunity to become a supervisor for Sumner County, I will be ready to apply the positive qualities that I have observed from my previous eight years of working within law enforcement and keep moving forward, learning and molding into a supervisor people want to work
It is important that I build positive effective relationships with the children, young people and adults that I work with, to do this I need to be able to demonstrate and model effective communication skills in my dealings with others. The importance of focusing on crisis intervention training will help to not only better understand the concept, but also to understand police crisis intervention teams. MEMORANDUM FOR Small Group Leader, ATTN: CAPT SETTLES, MPOBC 6-03, U.S. Army Military Police School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473
From police interaction of the mentally ill, Crisis Intervention Training has been born with the focus on police officers being able to identify individuals who may be suffering from various type of mental illness. In addition to being able to identify if a person is suffering from a mental disorder, the training also teaches officers the skills to communicate with them in hopes to de-escalate the tense situation peacefully (Russell, 2012).

Throughout my life growing up in Polk County whenever police departments became a topic of conversation, the best department in the area would always be Lakeland Police department. Now that it is my turn to start looking for jobs in law enforcement, the Lakeland Police department was top priority for me. There are many different qualities that this department holds that make it an extremely substantial department to work for. Some of these qualities are stability and high standards set for officers. Some qualities that I could bring to the department are determination and Integrity. The meshing between these qualities is what would make me a great police officer at the Lakeland Police Department.
Officer Lajoie’s prior law enforcement experience has enabled him show he has a good grasp on the fundamentals of being a solo patrol officer. This has allowed him to focus more time on investigating in-depth cases such as a sexual assault on a child case (Case #17007910) and a sex registrant in possession of multiple firearms (#17008132). During both cases Officer Lajoie investigated them from start to finish, working with detectives to create solid cases.
The organization that I will use for this seven week assignment will be the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD). I currently work for this police department and have been here for almost eleven years. The police department’s mission is to provide a community based police department to its citizens so they will feel safe in their communities with in Nashville Tennessee. The MNPD services the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County with all of its 526 square miles as the primary law enforcement agency in Nashville. The MNPD currently has approximately 1342 sworn personnel with approximately 1628 people which include the
One of the duties of code enforcement officer is to review and approves all construction plans/drawings or specifications to make sure that they meet building codes or zoning regulations. They inspect and observe and check construction sites to determine if structures and systems, such as plumbing and electrical, are installed to meet codes and ordinances for public safety. My commitment to the officers assigned to my shift. Also the ability I have to investigate all complaints by offenders and officers.
I think some gas station owners feel it is the police duty to protect them from gas drive-offs, whereas like you stated there is not much the officers can do to help them, past just sitting in the parking lot all day, which is not going to happen. The owners do need to help themselves and there are many ways they can do this. Your thoughts here are spot on and why the police have to explain this to the stations is beyond me. Common sense by the owner would be a pleasant surprise to the officers that have to explain this, I would probably not do it as tactfully as you stated
The duties of a police officer, also known as a law enforcement officer, focuses on protecting and serving; people and property. They patrol the areas they are assigned, respond to calls, enforce laws, make arrests, issue citations, conduct investigations and occasionally testify in court cases. Rush is a movie that takes viewers into the undercover work of two police officers, Kristen Cates and Jim Raynor; who went undercover to catch a major drug dealer. While undercover both got sucked into the drug culture and compromised their assignment. When dealing with such assignments police officer should be careful because one does not know what the outcome of the assignment might be or even so how the assignment might affect them in the long run.
