Justina Lee use of Dillard’s essays is effective because for both ladies the candle light creates a new vision. Thus, allowing them to see things from different perspectives calling it the “final beauty.” Their imagination as a writer, through the light focuses on life rather than death. Lee states that in the light of these candles she sees historical events anew. Like Dillard, Lee looks beyond the surface and tries to find a deeper meaning into the story of the massacre. Christopher McCandless and Adam Shepard are two wealthy young men who decided to embark on a project, which ended in two different ways. Although the two men had the same goal and the same background their strategies proved them to be exceedingly different. The challenge itself showed courage and a tremendous amount of self reliance, but looking deeper it also showed work ethics , character and purpose. Both men took on the challenge to start with nothing, however only one of them ended with financial stability and the happiness they were both searching for. Having that being said, Adam Shepherds project served a greater purpose because he was able to economically move up in life, he did not burn bridges, and more importantly he proved his
As an African American woman before the civil rights movement, would I be considered an American? Who was considered an American in the nineteenth and twentieth century ? David Henderson, an African American poet, wrote the article “Jimi Hendrix Deep Within the Blues and Alive Onstage at Woodstock – 25 Years After Death” to show how Jimi Hendrix has continued to influence many people after his untimely death. Additionally, Henderson claims that no other musician has been able to replicate Hendrix’s “precise and rapid picking” and “his recognizance of sound and noise.” Henderson personally knew Hendrix as he previously wrote his book “Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky” to express his opinion on “popular black music at the time” and as a promise he “made to Hendrix at a nightclub in Manhattan in 1969.” It is impossible to deny that Jimi Hendrix has not continued to be one of the most influential music artists due to his unique way of “play[ing] with feedback, control[ing] it, and make[ing] it melodic. A skill that no other musical artist has been able to replicate. Another important aspect of Hendrix’s life

In a thorough journal article by Michael Craw, he suggests that poverty in general is as much of a local problem as it is for an entire nation. Furthermore, Craw expands on the research and implications for how exactly we should treat local governments when addressing the study of U.S. social welfare policy. More times than none, local governments find themselves constrained by intergovernmental elements and questioning what/how exactly to provide (or fiscal capacity) in regards to social welfare expenses—even so, many still posses an immense degree of independence in responding to local policy preferences when it boils down to the numerous decisions on providing social welfare services and taking part in state and federal intergovernmental

I have never read a book like this until we did a book pass around the room and I came across How it went down. It had me close to tears every few pages, maybe I’m just emotional but I love when books can make me feel something.
Powerful message from Shawn McDaniel. “ My dad planned to kill me a couple nights ago. He actually thought he’d doing me a favor, ending my miserable existence. But because Dad didn’t do it, I guess in one way I’m like everybody else now, just trying to figure out what’s gonna happen next. I’m keeping my spirits up and enjoying a mental make-out here and there, and focusing on the good things in life.” He have C.P., which is the brain damage caused before birth, during birth or imminently after birth.
