Within my three interviews, I focused most of my objectives towards understanding my favorite subject of this class: Relationships. I interviewed people with the initials LD, BJ, and PO. So I could spread out the IPC concepts, I asked LD about her interpersonal needs, which is a persons specific feelings and reactions to situations. PO and I discussed his strengths in interpersonal communication, which is the ability to communicate with your peers. Finally I asked BJ about her self-concept, which is her view of herself. After all my information was gathered, I found that personality traits according to relationships cannot always match your first impressions of my classmates. My first interview, LD, I met through a friend earlier in …show more content…
She said this lack of communication hurt her early in college but has now found her own her. We talked about what we like to do on the weekends and what we do in our free time down here at WVU. After every portion of personality we went over, I asked her, “Do you feel this is a strength or a weakness in your attraction?” Every time BJ responded with a hesitant form of strength but she proclaimed domination of the three C’s, which are character, competence, and composure. After the interview was over with I saw she lacked composure because of her little emotional control. Despite her missing this trait she had a very good character and showed much competence. I tried to base all three of my interviews upon interpersonal and close knit relationships, but this one drifted into accuracy because of BJ’s communication skills. I attempted to base all three of my interviews upon interpersonal and boyfriend-girlfriend type relationships, but this one drifted into accuracy of BJ’s self-concept. My first impression and her self-concept explanation matched up very wrong. Not that she only possesses negative traits, but in the few days that I’ve barely knew her, she didn’t come across as the independent, communicative woman I thought she was. Then again, this interview was my first actual conversation with her, so it may not be as accurate as my first impression. Lastly, I interviewed another fellow classmate, PO. Our exchange seemed to be more open because of my
The results of the four personality tests all agree that I value relationships and ideas that can be seen, touched, and felt. I identify strongly with these core characteristics. However, because of the high emotional scores, the tests tend to lean towards a humanitarian personality. While I care about others and do hold convictions on certain matters, the activist theme is not accurate. In my early career, because of my emotional intelligence, I was encouraged to engage in studies involving social work, counseling, and teaching. My first two years of college were focused on education until I realized my brand of emotional intelligence would fit better in a business organization, specifically human resources. The relational and emotional characteristics come from my Type A personality. The need to be accepted by my peers will be an ongoing challenge in my career. I do think relationships are extremely important to achieving goals. I have experienced that it takes time and effort to develop and maintain relationships with my staff, but it has enabled my team to buy-in to our recruitment initiatives.

I had the pleasure of interviewing one of our church parisinors, Ms. Maria. Ms. Maria is 75 years old Hispanic woman who has been a widow for the past three years. Ms. Maria was basically a stay at home Mom when her children were young and when she did work she worked as an assembly line worker. Her wages were low and her pension that she currently receives is not enough to meet her monthly needs. Her husband was the main bread winner prior to him dieing of a massive heart attack at the age of 78 while he was at work. Her husband was a cook in a resturanrt and had decied to continue to work until some of their loans were paid off. Since his death, Ms. Maria has been depressed, anxious and struggling to make ends meet and has recently been diagnosed with hypertension. Her three children live out of state a don’t get to visit often.
I worked with Sally Joe over the course of the semester and it was a wonderful time, at the beginning she did not really want to open up to me but towards the end I could not get her to quit talking. She is a remarkable young lady and I am so happy I got to work with her over the course of the semester.
(After beginning the interview and gathering information I decided to switch up my questions, and narrow them down to be more specific to her personally from what I had in my oral proposal)
For my In-Depth Interview paper, I chose to Interview my co-worker Senada Cufurovic whom I work with at Bank of the West. Senada finds herself culturally diverse as being from another country and culture. As long as I have known Senada from working with her for the past two years, I have never been able to get to know her background from where she came from until this opportunity to interview her came up.
At the beginning of the interview, she talked about how her first semester was quite a culture shock. While listening to her tell her stories, I often found myself laughing. The interview was very calm and the atmosphere was friendly. It was easy to talk to her because I have known her for quite some time now.
The person whom I've decided to interview for this interview project is Julie. I have known her and her family for the majority of my life. So, I thought that she would be an excellent candidate for the project. Already being very comfortable with one another we could have a good informal interview after dinner one night, which is just what we did. She was born and raised here in Greeley, Colorado, in the United States; she is of mixed racial, ancestry, Mexican American and Caucasian, she is currently thirty-one year's old. The oldest of four daughters, and has been married to her husband for ten year's now, he is of Caucasian ancestry, they have no children themselves. Last year she was finally promoted to the general manager of a different
Throughout this semester this class has allowed me the privilege to get to know people who I would have never talked to on a personal level while also having the chance to advance my interviewing skills while getting to know them. Not only did these interviews and experiences display my strengths such as being able to adapt to certain situations but even more importantly it helped show me my weaknesses. After one interview and the next, I had to learn what role I had to play as within each interview I had to adapt to find my specific role as it varied from one to the next. Having the opportunity to interview a handful of people from the beginning of this semester to now has also taught me that the person you are interviewing can have a tremendous effect on if the interview goes successfully or not for reasons that I will elaborate on further in my paper. Lastly, one of the greatest lessons I learned about while interviewing people would be how to properly prepare to make sure the interview itself go as smoothly as possible. All of these factors have helped me grow in becoming a better interviewer and have helped me grow as a person.
Elizabeth and I spent a portion of the interview talking about her past and why she ended up at the University of Iowa. She told me how she was involved with orientation after her first-year due to staying on campus for a summer class. She talked about how she grew to love student affairs and kept moving up with orientation, eventually becoming an orientation leader and training the next group or orientation students. She told me about her interview and how it was between the University of Iowa and Penn State. One element
Interviewing someone you know may be a more easier with than someone you do not know. In this case, I interviewed my friend Matthew Guerrero. He is a sophomore here at Washburn. Matthew's background is different than mine because he is Hispanic and grew up with his married parents and his one brother. That differs from my background because I grew up with divorced parents going back and forth between the two every weekend. I also grew up a bit different because there is a total of eight kids in my family. I chose to interview Matthew because even though we both have two very different life's we are very similar. I think it is interesting how we had complete opposite lives growing up but we both are almost boy-girl version of each other and
Interpersonal communication is the most important kind of communication. It happens when two individuals are in a close proximity to each other, and they are able to provide immediate feedback to one another. IPC (interpersonal communication) is the way we express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas to the people around us. Interpersonal communication is something you need to do well as it affects many aspects of your life.
1. Question: Share some of the background of your interviewee (or couple). What was this person’s/couple’s story?
We walked around the campus for an hour and half telling each other about ourselves once our conversation
I especially enjoyed chatting with you about the work that you do in talent acquisition at Target and I could tell how passionate you are about Target. I enjoyed hearing about how Target has allowed you to grow and thrive in your career. I thought that the conversation that our table had about new ways of recruiting college students was fascinating, especially because I am interested
