One of the Eagles’ most notable community programs is their “Eagles Youth Partnership” (EYP). The program was found in 1995 and now includes over fifty-thousand low-income children in Philadelphia annually. The organization’s mission statement is “To enhance opportunities and improve the quality of life for children and youth in the Greater Philadelphia region through health and education partnerships” (Community: About EYP, n.d.). To do this, EYP focuses on the health and education of its participants. The program uses the excitement of the Philadelphia Eagles team to gain the attention of kids who are the hardest to reach. They strive to improve the attitudes of young children when thinking about their own lifestyles in regards to their health …show more content…
However, they are also famed for having one of the best NFL game experiences. Visiting team’s fans have stated that they feel extremely welcomed regardless of who they are cheering for. Sean Rowland, a writer for Stadium Journey, wrote about a time he went to a home Eagles game against the New Orleans Saints. Rowland was cheering for the Saints at the game and was never verbally abused. He got a few friendly heckles, but no issues (Rowland, S, n.d.). Like any other NFL game, if people remain respectful and calm, there will be no problems. The atmosphere of the stadium remains welcoming to all unless it is a game day against any of the three division …show more content…
The Eagles broadcast their games through television stations and uploading highlights onto their site. The Eagles do a great job of ensuring that their fans everywhere feel informed about their favourite team and players. With their app published on two of the most popular app stores, fans are able to stay connected to news articles and Eagles videos. This makes it possible for people to take up a hobby of the team. For me, the Eagles are a daily part of my life. Every day I check up on recent news articles and videos. I watch highlights from the previous game and analyze the predictions for next week’s game. I have been doing so for the past five years and it has become almost a necessity in my life. I strive to distinguish myself as an Eagles fan through clothing, decorations, and images. The existence of the organization has influenced the creation of websites and forums where fans alike can come together and talk about the team creating a community where people can build relationships and have a sense of
I am glad to say that I will begin the installation of the brand new sign for the St. Margaret's Parish Center this weekend for my Eagle Scout Project. The new sign has just been finished, and I am in need of a few dedicated scouts to assist me in the installation. I am looking for between 8-12 scouts to help out this Saturday between 9:00 - 12:00 and 12:00 - 3:00. Bring shovels, wheelbarrows, post diggers, and of course work gloves and safety glasses. If all goes to plan, we should get through all of the work on Saturday, but we may need some people to help out on Monday aswell. Thanks to everybody for your support, and remember to sign up on the Troop Web Site so I know how much food to get! Thanks again, hope to see

Sports Authority Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos professional football team. A stadium filled full with 76,125 loud and dedicated fans. The atmosphere is intense when the stadium opens for the football game. The away team always goes on the field first. The stadium erupts in boos and a various amount of cuss words, some that I have never even heard before. The creativity of the fans is almost like an R- rated Shakespeare is inside them. The staff sets up an inflatable horse with smoke coming out the sides and fireworks bursting in the air above it. The Broncos come to the field and the noise from the cheering and yelling is almost enough to make you go deaf. It sends chills down your spine
I thought it would be a cool article to talk a little bit how this crazy Romo loving, football obsessing, Cowboys fanatic became a fan. Some say "it's just a game". To me that couldn't be farther from reality. The Dallas Cowboys and the game of football collectively has changed my world and taught me so much about life. It taught me that life is a team sport and no matter how hard you try you will never get anywhere all by yourself. It taught me about disappointment and that you won't always get to celebrate that win with your fellow fans. But there is no better feeling than standing by a team through thick and thin. Through adversity and no matter the outcome of a game or a season, knowing
Joining into a “fandom discourse community” has more extravagant depth than the simplistic “claiming a team” and representing them solely on game night. Authentic members develop deep emotional investment into the events that circulate around their team. Whether it be voluntary or unknowingly, these passionate individuals over any given subject or matter often find themselves surrounded with or acquainted with those of similar connotation. This is how discourse communities are developed, through this unification of individuals over common interests. As a Cowboys fan myself i’ve had the experience of being shoulder to shoulder next to a stranger sharing excitement and roaring with joy as if we’ve known one another our whole lives. The bonds you can make through this discourse community is what gives it importance.
Thank you for your interest in the San Joaquin County Safe Routes to School Network. The network seeks to join together parties across the county including parents, teachers, health advocates, community members, and business owners to improve the health of youth in the county. By promoting physical activity before and after school, students gain opportunities to form healthy habits and lead healthy lives. In these newsletters, you will receive information about current and future activities for Safe Routes to School, recent research or journals, and ideas of how to support programs. Small actions such as speaking to youth about health benefits or partnering with schools can create a positive environment for students. Together we
Team BLAZE (Beginning Life with AmaZing Examples) is a project designed to decrease childhood obesity in low income school districts. Team BLAZE is a school based program that incorporates healthy nutritional options along with daily physical activities within a safe learning environment to low income regions in America. The program initially focuses on children ages 5-17 in the rural Mississippi Delta, where obesity rates “far exceed those of the state and nation” (Gamble et al., 2012, p 478). Team BLAZE is modeled after Save the Children’s CHANGE (Creating Healthy, Active and Nurturing Growing-Up Environments) study, a 2-year (2007-2009) randomized, controlled, community and school-based intervention to prevent unhealthy weight gain among rural school aged children (Save the Children, 2008). The CHANGE study used an innovative, multicomponent community-based intervention in rural America to improve the diets of children and proved to be successful in lowering rates of obesity at the studied locations (Save the Children, 2008). Likewise, Team BLAZE uses a multidirectional approach by targeting changes in school nutrition,

Therefore, being involved with this organization has transform and impacted
As the weekend begins, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s campus transforms from lethargic into a jocund atmosphere. While some look forward to parties on the weekends, others look towards Saturday, a day where, for three hours, a fan will sit in the stands and observe one of America’s most famous sports: football. Playing a major role in American culture, football has become a lifestyle for many that involves tailgating, socializing, and friendly rivalries. Today, anyone can experience the thrill, heartaches and triumphs of football just by observing. UNC Charlotte provides a first-hand experience of this popular sport for the community, alumni, students, and staff. This past game was the homecoming game against Florida International University. Fans near and far came to the Jerry Richardson Stadium to watch the Niners take on the Panthers. Through its modern design and lively ambience, the Jerry Richardson Stadium of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte provides a unique experience for all football lovers.
The goal of this program was to prevent Type 2 Diabetes as well as reduce childhood obesity and the among Kahnawake residents. The project developed a health education curriculum for children, strengthened the school’s nutrition policy to create supportive environments for healthy eating in the school, and provided a program of classroom and school activities to promote healthy lifestyles for parents, teachers, and children throughout the school year. To follow up and support what the children learned in class, a year-long program of community activities that included walking clubs, cooking courses and community gardens was initiated (Willows, Hanley, & Delormier,

Being a part of this distinct community related to fandoms of team, it is more than just cheering for the team passionately, it involves knowing the team and showing that you are a true fan. To be credible as a cowboy’s fan and for people to believe you that you are a true cowboys fan you have to at least have cowboys gear. True cowboys fan have at least a jersey to represent your favorite player, or have cowboy decorations in your house like a flag or a cowboy’s towel. Anybody that is a fan of any type of team you would know exactly what I mean because you have the gear for that team. So that is why being a fan of the Dallas Cowboys matters because we all have a favorite team who we represent in public, or in private. Another way to be credible is to know specific facts about this team, for example if someone
Schools play an important role in promoting physical activity and healthy eating habits, which are a fundamental component of the American educational experience. Mrs. Michelle Obama’s “We Can” program is great for children in every shape and form [4]. The “We Can” program stands for ways to enhance children 's activity & nutrition. It is a national movement designed to give parents, caregivers, and entire communities a way to help children 8 to 13
Upon reviewing the community vitality data I came to the conclusion that the health problem that a health education program would be most appropriate to address would be childhood nutritional health and fitness. I came to this conclusion after careful data analysis. Of the county’s adults (18+) 77% ate less than five servings of fruits and vegetables per day, this percentage is so high likely because of attitudes and habits these adults picked up when they were children. The second largest age demographic in the county is children aged 10 to 17 are overweight, six percent more than the state average, 88% of children age 10 to 17 are not meeting daily targets for fruit and vegetable consumption and 30% age 10 to 17 watch 3 or
Blue and gold filled the stadium as we arrived. The noise levels were unparallel to anything I have experienced. From the students, to the elder, everyone was determined to express the pride in their beloved Golden Eagles. This was the first game that I went to with my dad and his best friend, Steve Michels.
