3. Review your experiences related to this course. Describe the most important aspects of what you have learned about the foundations of early childhood programs. Identify at least three significant concepts, thoughts, or ideas. The most important aspects that I learned in class are “how to be an excellent teacher”, “how to advocate for a child”, and “how important is to play, and interact with children when they are in young age minimizing the use of media and its influence in their life choices.” I learned all the important aspects that a teacher needs to have to be excellent, from the passion to work with the children to how organize the environment to facilitate the learning; also how to collaborate with families, colleagues, to research and increase constantly own knowledge personally and professionally. How to use strategies and create a curriculum that will keep children engaged and challenged in their thinking. I learned that a teacher needs to advocate for children’s needs, giving information about services available for the family and child. A teacher needs to be alert for any cue that give suspicion of abuse or neglect, following the Code of Ethical Conduct, and taking the …show more content…
In my power of caregiver and support teacher, I will reinforce peer modeling and give more time to explore play in the area that they favor the most. I already started applying what I have learned, but I will be more intentional. I will keep my eyes open to make sure children are safe and respected, in our program and at home, and support families with resources and strategies to be better parents with successful
The reason why I chose this article because it showed the appropriate examples of my work that document my learning experience. The assignment CE101: Introduction to Early Childhood Education was one artifact that documented my learning experience and demonstrate the reason why I sort a career as early childhood provider? In the beginning that was my goal, but as I advanced in my education with Kaplan I realized I could do so much more. I want to continue my education at Kaplan, and became a special education teacher that specializes in psychology. I have so much more to learn. The assignment help me to be aware of the different career opportunities associated with early childhood development. I recall learning how to conduct a proper
My first observation experience was eye-opening. Upon my arrival to Providence Catholic High School, I only had basic knowledge about what it took to be an effective teacher. After working with many different teachers at this high school, it became evident that every teacher adopted their own style of teaching. I also began to understand that in order to be a wonderful
Though I am just entering the field, I have enough experience to pick out the concepts that I believe are most relevant to the children at their young age. The first is the power of relationships to bring comfort and safety. The children are growing and exploring a lot in the preschool years, so it is vital that they feel comfortable in the facility. The second is the need for communication. The third concept that makes up my personal philosophy is the benefit from learning through play.
I believe strongly in developing a good relationship with the children being cared for. Not only should a relationship be made between the caregiver and the child, but also between the parent and teacher as well. The book states “Acknowledge each child every day at school” this should be any teacher that works witch children number one goal. They may not get the whole lesson completed during class time or nap time may not of went as planned but if that child feels welcomed into the class, they will try their best to please and want to come back.
She explained positive parts about being a teacher as being able to do what you love with growing children. As children go through stages of development, it is a good feeling to see what they are going to become in the future. She explains the bond she has with her students as one of the greatest feelings in the world. In early childhood, being their first teacher can have a major impact on how well they are going to do. Being able to create a good well-educated start to education is important. She explained that she wants to be able to educate children in the best way she can because the outcome of seeing them succeed is amazing.
The field and Its Evolution is another key point in this chapter because it is the core of early childhood. It is the place to for children to play and grow. It started as nursery schools and day care where they provided health care to advance the overall development of the children. Now, the field became full day care where it became more educational and lasted
Meet on a regular basis with administrative and teaching staff members to discuss program issues, curriculum planning, children’s progress, conferences and other aspects of professional development and growth.
In Early childhood course I learn many new and useful things about childhood. This course is about the children when they are not born yet and after they born till they are become older. I develop my skills in writing because we write many assignments and these assignments benefit me and help me to develop my writing skills because I got full mark, so I know that I write it better. Also, use the critical thinking in a good way because when I write the assignments I always compare and think in depth and think about the people around me, and also I know the view of each generation about the family and the role of the parent. My thinking is change as I mentioned before because I use to think in depth not like before and observe the behavior of
There are many significant educational opportunities that my school offers, such as college courses to get ahead in credits. I took advantage of this opportunity and applied for the course, Early Childhood Education, which deals with the importance of a child and their surroundings inside and outside of a classroom. I decided to take this specific class because of my previous psychology class, where I learned about Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development. This theory focuses on different stages of life in which a human develops from infancy to death. For this reason, it peaked my interest and made me want to go more in depth with this subject. Growing up as a child, my communication skills were always hindered due to my shyness, but
From Kindergarten to high school and special education to statistics, one theme runs throughout every great teacher's career: their job does not end with the school day. Ms. Tameka mentioned that a great teacher may also attend relevant conferences, network with other teachers and engage in continuing education to stay at the forefront of their specialty. Great teachers motivate, inspire and lead. They interact with their community to effect positive change through their students and themselves. Teachers change lives. Teachers do it
During my time at Wheelock, I have obtained many different strategies, skills and tools that help me to become a better teaching professional. However, we were introduced to the NAEYC essential professional tools. These nine tools are one that every teacher and educator should have. All of these tools were present in each class that was taken during my graduate program in Early Childhood Education. They are part of my education and now part of my teaching techniques.
1.) After reading about parental feelings, stages of caregiver development, and relationships, there are many thoughts that you might have about your work with infants, toddlers, and their families. Review the principles for parent-teacher relationships, and select one principle and explain how it would have a positive impact on an infant or a toddler. One of the principles for parent-teacher relationships that I felt was positive was teachers and directors provide support and information about parenting in a relationship-based program. The director especially the teachers have a big part in the child/children lives. Some directors talk to parents about the importance of attachments, telling them that secondary attachments to teachers are encourage
An educator’s goal is to enhance the upbringing of the child. To me, a caregiver is a co-parent to that child as we help to educate, shape morals, and enhance development. I make it a duty to build a relationship with parents. I look at each parent, not only as the caregiver to the child but as their own person. I seek to learn their religion, culture, social atmosphere and delve into some of their ideologies. I make it a duty to ask each parent about their day, weekends or what their future plans are. I use these insights into the different families to aid the development of all the children in my class. They do not all share the same culture, religion, social class or environment, so the class gets to see a look into their peers through my eyes.
Ryerson University’s early childhood studies program has an excellent reputation, many graduates recommended the program to me and I heard many professionals talk about the strengths of program such as its long history and its uniqueness since it is the first and the only program of its kind in Canada. I took many sociology courses when I was in University of Toronto and found my biggest interest is around family issues and child development. On the other hand, I would love to work with young children in the future since they have such a wonderful age with so much change. I want to learn more about young children from different perspectives and their own needs. The concept of the program “integrating diversity into early childhood studies” appeals to me because I totally agree that children need to develop their positive identity as members in the group. We need more people to help them recognize themselves and care about them. Moreover, the huge networking base provided by the Faculty could be very helpful after graduating from the program.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve
