Early Childhood Technologies Used Literacy Instruction And Affect Literacy Development

After using the technology in the classroom setting, some studies showed that interactions between the child and their class mates improved (Mozes, 2013). Using an iPad, or similar device, has the added benefit of not making child stand out. Most of their peers have and use an iPad. This is a great way to assist the child, without the making the student feeling like they stand out.

The use of technology in the classroom is an important tool to utilize as an educator. Technology allows for educators to have instant access to a plethora of resources that would not be available if technology was not used in the classroom. Teachers have the ability to plan lessons, create presentations, and have interactive games for students to use as a learning tool through the use of different digital devices. Modern day technology is rapidly advancing and providing teacher with many different tools to use in the classroom to enhance the students learning experience.

Literacy development needs to be supported from the very beginning of a child’s life. Due to culture, some students will enter school without any prior knowledge of literacy (The Access Center, 2007). It is the duty of the educator to facilitate literacy development, and provide students with an environment full of opportunities to develop literacy skills.
