The child, as happy as could be, runs through the front doors with a huge amount of excitement. While the two gloomy parents walk through the door after him, their eyes fill with tears. “Wait!,” shouts his mom as they walk through the doors. There she was, his kindergarten teacher, walking towards them with a big smile on her face to greet her new student! Indeed, early education teachers are the most upbeat people, but that is not all. In fact, early educators have to investigate different things before committing to a school, some being the job opportunity, pay, and advancements.
To be able to become an early educator, one would have to earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. “Most occupations in this zone require training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree (“Education and Training”). Early educators play a huge role in a child’s life. Before getting a teaching degree, the individual will need to take regular high school classes, such as math, science, English, and psychology, have two years of a foreign language and should consider participating in a teacher’s aide program. Then one must continue onto a four year college to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. The placement for an elementary teacher is quite high and it shouldn't be that difficult to find a job. Also, to increase the chances of getting a job and to increase your salary, a person should also get a Master’s Degree. It is not required but it looks better and often helps the employability of a future education.
There are multiple characteristics needed going into this field. Licensing requirements for preschool teachers vary by state. Some states require a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and others require certification by a nationally recognized authority. The child development associate (CDA) credential which is the most common type of certification. It requires a mix of classroom training and experience working with children. This comes along with an independent of an individual’s competence. When I went to NAEYC conference, Nov 18-Nov 21, Orlando, Florida, I attended 4 session. One of them was “America’s Best and Brightest: New Market Research on Attracting and Retaining Early Childhood Professionals.” Because I lack English listening skills, I couldn’t understand whole contents. However, I came to know about ‘understanding the attitudes and beliefs of current educators about the profession’ and ‘identifying factors that will be most helpful in encouraging educators to make the field a long-term profession.’ I thought that these contents would be useful and helpful for our classmates, as well as me, in understanding “current preschool teacher in the United States.”
While regulation and standard are the keys to the success of a childcare facility, there are factors that I believe are equally important to be successful in an early childcare program. So, I looked for a highly qualified teacher with good communication skills. Saint Mary Academy Inc. displayed these factors upon entry to the facility.
