Q7.
A good customer has just walked in, and made an urgent request for Ben to produce a "special" Earth buddy. A "secret" ingredient has to be added to the usual grass seed and sawdust mixture. How long will it take to produce a batch of 25 specials? Assume that one filling machine, one moulder, one eye installer, the painter, and the two packers can be pre-empted as soon as they are required, and can be dedicated to the job.

TASK | TIME | TIME/25 BUDDIES | NUMBER OF OPERATORS | TOTAL TIME | FILLING | 1.5 | 37.5 | 1 | 37.5 | MOULDING | 1.6 | 40 | 1 | 40 | EYES | 1.2 | 30 | 1 | 30 | EYE GLASS | 1.2 | 30 | 1 | 30 | PAINTING | 1.5 | 37.5 | 1 | 37.5 | PACKING | 1.98 | 49.5 | 2 | 24.75 |

Too produce 25 Buddies it will take 40 minutes, which is the longest section(moulding) to produce buddies.

Q8.
The customer says that he must leave the factory in 45 minutes. Will Ben have his sample in time? If not, what options does Ben have to enhance his firms reputation for excellent service? What would you recommend?

If Ben starts the process immediately he will have the 25 Buddies ready for the customer to take with him. If the process isn't started immediately then my suggestion would be for an up sell to the customer to increase the quantity and have product express delivered.
