Over the past four year, while attending Central Dauphin East High, I have gotten involved in many different activities and clubs. I first got involved in the sports at East High, such as field hockey, swimming, and lacrosse. Starting from my freshman year, I helped make East a better school, to compete against. In 2012, the field hockey team won just about half of the games they played, the swimming team was offly small but was competition for others and we sure gave it our all that year; especially because half of our team were beginners! Later in the spring of 2013, the lacrosse team made it to districts for the first time in years, maybe even a decade or two; Mr. Wagner was a fantastic coach, so the players cannot take all of the credit. …show more content…
Both groups do a lot of voluntary work, with overall makes the school look great. As Treasurer of the Red Cross club, I can definitely vouch for the amount of work we do to help East High’s reputation as a whole; we host blood drives that get blood donated to local hospital patients, collect donations to donate to our local chapter of the Red Cross through fun activities like May Day, and we also collect items for people and families in need after devastating accidents occur. This year, I asked the club to donate personal care items to a woman who went through a life threatening car crash and lost everything; taking care of those in need is definitely a priority not only I, but the whole club has! The other group that I am involved with is the National Honors Society, a club that devotes its extra time to doing community service and tutoring younger children. In previous years, I have stayed after school in East’s library and have tutored those who needed extra help in a subject. It never hurts to ask for help, especially if it betters your grade. In addition to tutoring, NHS also hosts book drives throughout the year to promote more reading within our youth. The past two years, East high has gotten public attention through social media and the local news! It’s great to be in clubs, but it is even
During my high school career, I have participated in a large majority of the clubs available to me, and held officer positions in most of them as well. In both the National Honor Society and Medical Connections Clubs I am a member of two and four years respectively, and was elected treasurer of both for the 2017-2018 school year. National Honor Society has also given me many community service opportunities, including helping with the Night to Shine organization and a volunteering at a local nursing home.
I have been in a number of programs and extracurricular activities at Lincoln H.S. that helped me define my career goals and challenged me to the fullest. As I finish my journey from High School, I began to slowly realize that their was nothing tangible I had offered to this community, but I what I did offer was myself. Being on the Mustang Varsity team there was always this one person who showed me how to be the best tennis player. His name was David Dinh. David had shown me that their was more to tennis than winning the game, it was about having fun with your teammates/coaches and building relationships with others through a simple rally. His leadership skills and enthusiasm for this sport had influence my own perspective of
I’m an active participant in many extracurricular activities at New Brockton High School. Varsity sports, academic clubs, and leadership organizations, if you can name it, I’ve probably participated. I’m currently a varsity volleyball captain as well as the secretary for our Senior Beta Club, Vice-President for our FFA chapter, and not to mention represented New Brockton High School as a national youth delegate
I am dedicated to staying involved in many clubs and programs in my school. Right now I am currently in baseball, choir, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Ruckus and Rowdy, student council, and in our school musical production, Footloose, as a main acting role. My most prominent talents are in baseball and choir. I have been in baseball since I was 3 years old and have always been an athletic kid compared to my peers. I continue to practice and try my best in baseball and despite always trying new sports and activities, I have never skipped a baseball season. Baseball has taught me the importance of teamwork, taking constructive criticism, respect for coaches and teammates, and persistence in improving. In the past two
The school has pushed me outside of my comfort zone by giving students the opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities. The clubs offered at North Posey make a student feel like they are part of something at the school. This year, I am currently part of Varsity Club and Business Professionals of America. Both of these clubs are something I am extremely passionate about because I love to do both. Business Professionals of America helped me choose the path I want to take to receive my college degree. Without this club, I may still be undecided on my major. Varsity Club has allowed me to stay active in school through sports. The past fours I have played volleyball, tennis, and basketball. All of these sports have helped me become more of a team player. Teamwork is a major value I will need in the future because in a business degree, I will constantly be working with my coworkers to solve a problem. Varsity sports have also taught that it isn’t everything to win. These sports have taught me that by losing you can learn just as much as winning. By being on the court, I have learned how to become a leader. This past year, I was the captain of our volleyball team. Our team had our difficulties but by working as a team and stepping up we were able to prove many people
I’ve participated in 3 sports teams since freshman year. I tried out for and joined Cross-Country in August of 2015 and was put on the Freshman-Sophomore team. This year I made it to the 2016 IHSA 2A Cross Country Sectional Champions. I tried out for and joined the women’s basketball team in October of 2015 and this year I was nominated for and became captain of the Junior Varsity team. I tried out for and joined Track & Field in March of 2015 and I have been on the Varsity team since freshman year. I participate in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, low and high hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and shot put. I made it to the 2017 Indoor City Championships for long and triple jump. I am in Key Club, African-Culture and Dance, Recycling Club, Science Olympiad, and Latin Honor Society.
Within the last three years at Westside High School, I have not only pushed myself academically, but athletically as well. I do everything within my capability to keep my grades to a high standard while absorbing knowledge that will help better my future. Beginning in my ninth grade year, I decided I wanted to take leadership rolls within my school. I was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, a member of Westside student council, and a member of the track and
I go to an all-boys high school that has a reputation both for its academics and athletics; therefore, it attracts many strong athletes. The first day of tryouts I couldn’t believe how many people were there. Although I thought I had some talent, there were a lot of talented players and I did not make the team. I was very disappointed. One of the reasons I chose my high school was because I hoped to play on their hockey team. Because I did not make my schools team, I could enter the player pool of the High School Hockey League of Nassau County. I was very fortunate to be picked up by a new team. I didn’t know anyone on the team, but I decided to make the best of it. I have had four great years of high school and travel hockey, and have made many great and lasting friendships. If I had a similar experience in college, I would try something new. I look forward to all the new opportunities both academically and socially that University of Delaware can
Great post this week, I also enjoyed the Smith Hill forum because it allowed us to identify the emergency management problems that Smith Hill was facing. Overall, I enjoyed this course because I feel that even though this course was only eight weeks, I feel that I was able to learn a whole lot. My favorite part was the final assignment because I was able to put into practice everything that I learned throughout this course. Good luck in your academic
I am quite involved in our extra curricular activities on my campus. To begin, I am a three year starter on our wrestling team in Oshkosh. I am hoping to be a captain for my team this year. This doesn't make me a better person but hopefully a better teammate and in the future a better coach. Wrestling helps me stay disciplined and organized. I am also part of our Oshkosh Physical Education Club or OPEC. This club is for all of the Physical Education major students on campus. I have been a member for 3 years now; last year I was the Vice President. This school year I will be the President of this club. This makes me a better person because I have to help students through different situations such as, thinking of dropping out, having problems
It all started in June of 2015. God had been bugging me with something for a long time. I had suddenly felt called to Woodcrest to have with their ministry. Flashback to March of 2015. I had found myself going to a conference at Woodcrest. When at the conference I began to realize that Woodcrest was full of people with faith, despite what I had thought. I thought the preacher was high and mighty but at the conference he was sitting among the people learning with us. I also was greeted with a smile by everyone. These people I had never seen before where so nice. Having trust with Woodcrest I showed up with my grandma, since my parents were out of town. I went in and the message was deep, what I didn’t know what God was going to do in the next
My favorite sport is basketball, but I have been a four-year varsity starter for both the baseball and the basketball teams at our high school. Being thrust into varsity as a freshman was very challenging as the pace of play in both sports increased drastically from junior high. However, I knew I needed to keep working hard and not become complacent. I have remained the starting shortstop for out baseball team every year and have become a team captain. I also became a team captain in basketball and became the leading scorer for the team. In fact, I was a 1,000 point scorer in basketball finishing with a total of 1,355 points thus making me the 25th highest scorer in Franklin/Fulton County history according to Chambersburg’s Public Opinion. Not only did I have a successful individual career in basketball, but our team also accomplished many things over my four years. When I first started as a freshman and for many years prior, our team was not that good. We finished the year below .500 and did not make the district playoffs. However, our team really turned the program around over the next three years. In my sophomore year, my team finished 3rd in the district and made only the second state playoff appearance in our school’s history. Then, the next 2 years, our team finished as the runner-up in our district and made 2 more state playoff appearances. Also, in my senior year, we became the
From my freshman year of high school to my senior year at school I have been involved in cheerleading, track and field, the Leo Club, Ebony Society, Trio program, the Ascend Network, Emerald Legacy Step, Flagler Youth Leadership Program, and the Hosa Program. Outside of school, I volunteered to be the junior coach of Flagler Titans Varsity Cheer team, as well as concession stands for softball games and culinary events, and now volunteering at the hospital as part of the teen auxiliary
Before Andover, wellness was easily attainable and could be maintained throughout the school year with ease. I tried my hardest in my classes, was involved in extracurricular activities, and most importantly, I could take break if and when I needed it. Similar to other students, academics and activities were a prominent part of my life; however, my health and happiness always took precedent over anything else in my life. But I, like many other students, quickly realized that the importance and value of my health and well-being weren’t deemed as significant upon matriculating to Andover. Now, how I perform in my classes and what I do after school is somehow more important than how am feeling. Given the current and continuing state of stress and infirmity that most Andover students are in, I think Andover needs to place more concern on the health and well-being
I have participated in cross country and track and field and have gone to the state championships three times. Academically I have acquired a 4.28 G.P.A and I rank seventh out of 87 in my class. While I was in sports I excelled academically and was awarded Nevada All-State Academic Team for three seasons. I am part two clubs, National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. I am proud to be vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, to help coordinate the underclassmen so they can keep the club alive in the following years. One of the most memorable accomplishments in my high school career is receiving Rotary Student of the Month for math and social studies. The Rotary Club rarely gives out this award to a student two times and I was fortunate enough to receive it both
