EATING BREAKFAST
Topic: Eating a healthy breakfast; why it’s important for college students.
Organization: Problem/Solution
Specific Purpose: I want my audience to understand that there is time to eat breakfast in the morning and why, how and what breakfast can do to help your health.
INTRODUCTION
Attention getter: You wake up and oh man, what’s that feeling? It feels like your insides are caving in and wait, wait – you’re hungry. Starving actually. Oh no, you have three minutes to get to class so it’s either this: you check your myspace really quick or you grab an apple and an orange juice. Not many people grab that apple and eating breakfast can be one of the most important things you’ll do in the morning.

Many people perform poorly at their jobs and have less energy due to the unhealthy eating habits they have.
Transition: The problem of skipping breakfast however does not only lie within time crunches, but also with dieting.
The second part of the issue is that most college students looking to lose that weight rely on skipping breakfast as an easy way to diet.
A. Young students lack knowledge on the effects of skipping breakfast.
2. People however, mainly young girls, do not realize the effects it can have on your body.
3. Skipping meals can make you gain weight by storing your food. (MM 2007)
B. People can get serious medical issues from not taking care of their bodies. 1. Skipping breakfast for weight can lead to more serious problems such as eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. Most common in college students.
2. Cause bad performance in school and mentally. Also can break down your energy and cause you to faint or pass out.
Transition: However, it seems that these are all things too severe and don’t connect to breakfast. But they do. Eating in the morning sets your pace for all day and as college students, you need all the energy you can get to retain all the crap you’ll learn. I feel however that as more young people fall into the fitness craze that the simple fact of eating a healthy
Your brain needs fuel and energy so you can concentrate better at school. When you eat breakfast your brain is fully charged and you will be ready for school. However, most students don’t have time to eat breakfast because of the time school starts. When kids don’t eat they get tired a little faster. This kind of mixes in with the school times because you need time to eat breakfast, but if you don’t have time to eat breakfast schools should have little breakfast bars for students to eat to hold them before lunch so they can concentrate and do spectacular in
I read the article, "Skipping Breakfast is Very Bad for Health". Now I do agree with the title, to some extent breakfast I feel that breakfast is very important because it allows your metabolism and appetite to stay regulated. What I do not agree with is how the author is trying to suggest that not eating breakfast will cause individuals to smoke, drink more alcohol, and not exercise. The article also speaks on things like individuals will not be educated and less likely to get a good job. All these things were based on accusations not facts. Nothing was proven or demonstrated to show that this information was true. Going off of assumptions was only implied in this article. That is just like saying that if individuals start to eat breakfast
It is mainly because breakfast can improve our grades.Yes, it is as simple as that. As students, our bodies require a massive amount of energy to be able to work hard and get the grade you aim for as well as preventing us from mid-morning slump during long-haul classes. Imagine you are a car; after a long night of sleep, your fuel tank is empty. Therefore, the very first thing a car should do is to refuel otherwise it cannot run in the next morning, isn’t it? In like manner, carbohydrate gained from breakfast cereals, rice or bread works like our fuel and it increases body glucose levels to normal after a night and lowers cholesterol level, which ensures our bodies function properly until lunch time. As a result, you will have better concentration, problem solving skills, and body co-ordination throughout the morning. Not only are your grades improved, but also you will be surprised to find yourself as a better gamer and sportsperson. According to my own experience, I once skipped breakfast with the aim of losing weight and I ended up getting the lowest Physics test score I have ever taken. Apart from that, it can also lead to many more detrimental health consequences. The latest study from Harvard University terrifically points out that men who usually skip breakfast are 27 per cent more at risk of dying from heart attack or coronary heart
First, your body needs energy everyday after you wake up. According to “Healthy Habits,” experts say breakfast is the most important meal of the day (Healthy Habits). Eating breakfast helps give kids the energy they need to think and learn. Experts say eating breakfast can help kids do better in school. Because of this, kids will get the energy they need to have all the fun they want
The Washington posted an article in May 23, 2016.¨Teenagers , Give Your Brains a Break: Don't Skip Breakfast is written by Casey Seidenberg. In this article she shares her opinion to try to persuade kids to eat breakfast. She uses evidence to support her argument and appeals to the reader. She wrote this essay so that people could live healthier.
The importance of a healthy breakfast cannot be underestimated. A child who is undernourished in the morning will not be functional for her class until lunch. Also, schools can act as supporters of positive, healthy behaviors by offering nutritious breakfasts such as fruit and yogurt, versus the fast food breakfasts some adolescents might grab, if they get breakfast at all. Many school districts are beginning earlier and earlier in the day, and students are simply not hungry enough or do not get up early enough in the morning for breakfast, leaving them starving by 10am. Being able to grab breakfast in study hall can thus prevent many potential academic and nutritional problems.
A common idea presented to everyone at an early age is the importance of breakfast and that skipping it can have dire
If he or she has a physical education class, or has an extra curricular sport after school, he or she may not have the energy needed coming from not having the very most important meal of the day. Even if the child is going to recess they need the energy from that first meal. Eating breakfast can lead to a healthy kid which will decrease sick days where the child may fall behind in school work.
Some people don’t have time in the mornings to eat breakfast, so when they wake up, they go hungry until lunch; which is a minimum of four hours
Focus on Topic: Healthy eating is not about strict dietary limitations, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself
ATTENTION GETTER: Imagine your alarm going off in the morning, and you hit the snooze button, you usually just lay there thinking about what you can get rid of from your morning routine just for those few extra minutes of sleep. Students our age and even most adults tend to eliminate the most important meal of the day...breakfast. However, skipping it may have a harsher impact on your
Eating breakfast helps you spread out your hunger and control your food intake throughout the day makes you the boss of how you eat the rest of the day.
As scholars are constantly reminded to eat a healthy portion of breakfast before testing, most scholars find themselves wondering, “Would eating breakfast really improve my performance?” According to many psychologists, consuming breakfast may have benefits in performance, but to an extent. However, some have also deduced that breakfasts may also harm the performance of scholars. Nonetheless, scholars who eat a healthy breakfast seem to have higher energy levels and ability than those who did not because of the nutrients consumed and absorbed by the body and mind. Consuming breakfasts would have beneficial effects on learning, to an extent; however, the different types of breakfasts could also have detrimental effects as well. The goal of this research is to determine not if breakfasts improve academic performance, but by how much? In addition, to the fact that there are possible “side effects” to this method of improvement, which leads to ask, are all breakfasts healthy? Scholars eating breakfast in order to improve performance may be possible for academic performance. However, if scholars believe and reason over the fact that eating breakfast does improve academic performance, then the effects of school behavior would be tested. Consuming a breakfast does provide nutrients for the body and mind. However, the nutrients provided could only benefit the body and mind to such a limit. Then, there is also the
My target area began as a focus on eating more in general. The food available at PSP was not always ideal, many times the food was either unhealthy or there simply weren’t enough options that I enjoyed. As a result, I noticed that my weight began to significantly decline and I desperately wanted to allay this problem. After completing my log sheets over three weeks, I came to the realization that the bulk of my missed meals came in the morning. I would sleep until eight to make sure that I received adequate sleep, however, I realized that in doing this; I was forgoing breakfast which was negatively affecting my health and my performance at Cornell. In fact, “research involving adults and children has indicated that breakfast might enhance memory, attention, the speed of processing information, reasoning, creativity, learning, and verbal abilities” (Consumer Reports). No matter a person’s age, breakfast is a vital part of their life.
Having snoozed for five minutes after the vibration of my alarm clock, I finally succeeded in getting up at 7:00. Considering the most of the people in my hall were still in sleep, I had to try to not make a big noise in case they would be awakened and be annoyed at me. The first thing after my getting up every day is to take a shower in order to refresh myself. Then I will have to make myself a breakfast which usually includes biscuits and gravy, a bowl of cereal, some fresh fruit or a ham sandwich. I hate eating breakfast since I do not have any appetite for any food in the morning while the bad feeling of my stomach will drive me to. Consequently, I tend to treat my breakfast as a tough task which I
