What is healthy eating? Ask any elite athlete and their answer will probably be much different from that of a vegans answer. Some people may respond with a simple, “ Not eating junk food or any oily and sugary foods.” However, others may give an in depth answer as to the true meaning of health and the exact health benefits of specific foods. This has rose to be a major problem in the concept of “Healthy eating” because the majority of Americans have an extremely skewed view of what it means to truly eat healthy. This misunderstanding has given the United States of America a very poor reputation geared towards a “Fast food obsessed nation”. The body also needs proteins from sources such as meat, fish or tofu. The protein from these sources supplies much needed energy to the body in order to function for a complete day. There are multiple diet plans that completely cut out the consumption of these food groups. Though in retrospective it seems like a good idea to prevent pollution in the human body by cutting these completely out of a diet, it is actually harming the body because it is not being energized with a consumption of foods from all food groups. Poor skin complexion and acne can be easily treated with the help of healthy food choices. The rich vitamins, minerals and nutrients in food are a great way to repair and rebuild some impurities in the body that may cause poor complexion and acne. Foods containing Vitamin A have been known to reduce the effects and inflammation of acne immensely. Vitamin A is the main ingredient in the prescription drug known as Accutane. Accutane has been used over the past two decades to treat acne. Too much Vitamin A can have detrimental side effects, but is a tremendous tool in moderation. Vitamin A is most easily found in foods such as salmon, carrots, spinach, and broccoli. Those who have endured the long and grueling road of acne often have a deficient amount of zinc in their body.
