Did you know that turkey tends to contain vitamins and minerals, but also has more fat and calories. Also the amino acid tryptophan in turkeys causes you to become sleepy after eating. You shouldn’t eat us because it can affect your health and we are not treated well and many of us are killed every year for Thanksgiving. First of all, you shouldn’t eat turkey because it can affect your health. According to medicalnewstoday.com “Processed turkey products can be high in sodium and harmful to health...As intake of processed meat goes up, risk for obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer, and infertility go up as well.” This quote shows that eating turkey can cause many effects to your health in a horrible way. Also,
I believe the short film was made for a fun informative. The videographer took advantage of an unusual topic and made the story interesting. The main point of the story was to show an average neighborhood’s day interrupted by random turkeys, leaving the neighborhood in astonishment. The videographer demonstrates the story from the resident’s point of view but mostly the woman’s point of view. I think that was the case because of how the woman was so delighted about the entire situation. The story engages the audience by bringing curiosity of how the turkeys got there in the first place and what are the turkeys going to do afterwards. Correspondingly, the videographer captures a long shot of the turkeys walking out of the shot towards the pole.
Have you ever considered how many turkeys are in the world if it wasn’t for thanksgiving and farmers killing us ? Well some people think it ok to eat us turkeys because we're good. My opinion is that you shouldn’t eat us for two reasons because we have diseases, there also bad for human health.
Both essays cover two very different subjects Dave Barry’s essay covers sexism as he chose Thanksgiving dinner prep as the focus point so that he can point out how a simple family gathering is one the most sexist events that happens throughout a year. While David Sedaris takes place in his youth, right away you can tell that young David is plagued with severe OCD and not the cleaning kind. His essay starts out with his teacher scolding him for licking the light switches in the classroom, and he doesn’t understand why he gets in trouble for it. Both essays are done very well and both are connected by humor. Dave Barry on sexism and David Sedaris on mental illness but David Sedairs’s in my opinion is the better essay.
Admittedly, I have a crush on turkey burgers; and boy, have they evolved over the 80’s combo of ground meat, breadcrumbs, catsup and an egg white. Years go by. Recently, I read that my much loved ground turkey had a similar profile to bison. With availability of grass-fed designer buffalo on the rise, it is a non-gamey way to drift in to wild game territory. Not only that but, it is a quick and satisfying way to please and nourish a hungry horde. First prepare an olive oil, Dijon, and garlic booster to add to the meat. Break meat up with a large fork; then plop in the Dijon mixture and toss it into the meat recalling not to over work it. Divide the mixture into four, approximately 5 ounce portions. Chill the patties for 30 minutes or
The first Topic that I will be talking about is preseason scouting for turkeys. Things to look for and do when preseason scouting, look for Mast Bearing like acorns or hard wood flats, cut grain fields, also look in pastures for tracks ,droppings, and scratching, you can also set a trail camera where they are feeding( Bone Collector). The other thing to do when scouting is look for where they are sleeping what trees are they using to roost in. They usually roost in really tall trees so that they don't get eaten by other predators.
To achieve the full effect of managing for wildlife and timber, and individual must be very knowledgeable of both things. You must know how each species of wildlife is affected when harvesting timber in an area (Halterman, 1973). Wild turkeys have been known to use pine plantations that have been burned in the past 6 years, more than any forest type when nesting. These plantations are anywhere from 13 to 18 years old, with each of them being thinned at least one time (Smith, 1990). Studies in east-central Mississippi show that wild turkeys have almost doubled the home range area during the winter when compared to summer . Studies show that wild turkeys use pine plantations less during the winter and prefer
The excerpt ‘Turkey’s in the Kitchen’ by Dave Barry was written to portray his thoughts on gender roles in a common setting. Barry’s purpose in writing this piece is to address the steryotypes that are placed on men and women’s roles in household duties by using a humorous approach. The author uses personal anecdotes, humor, and diction to establish pathos and ethos to appeal to the audience.
I have recently shot my first turkey with a Winchester SXP. It was a great rush. With your ammunition and the gun, and it a smoked the turkey at about 25 yards. No other shots were needed. This year I also plan on buying the SX3 model. I have researched it and I would probably buy the field Super X3. I would want the Super X4 but I don't have the money for it. I really like the wood on the design of the Field version. I would also use the duck blind camo, but it wouldn't be a gun that you would hunt much other things with. The gun I would buy would probably be a trap/skeet, a deer, duck, and turkey gun. The Super XP is a nice gun, but it is my brothers and I want to have a good semi-automatic.
The large amount of carbohydrates we are prepared to eat today will trigger the release of insulin, which in turn will get rid of most of the other amino acids in our blood, leaving tryptophan behind. As tryptophan forms serotonin into melatonin, our sleep-inducing hormone, the affects of feeling full and sleepy will set in for the holiday. So, in order for you to blame the turkey for the reason you feel asleep on your grandmother’s sofa, you’d basically have to only eat turkey for the entire day in a large quantity and what’s Thanksgiving without those delicious sides and desserts?
Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive about preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and consumption of soul food have been a staple in my family’s tradition for many generations. Perchance the food tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it’s the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. I honestly don’t know why, but I feel like this should be a paten scientific theory. Everything just feels right on this day, as if the world halts for a split second and it is at harmony. Possibly that is why the food is cooked to perfection. Even the process of preparing the meal is practically better than eating the food.
According to http://History.com , the first Thanksgiving meal was recorded in 1621. However, turkey was not believed to be the first meal. According to http://www.History.com, the pilgrims killed five deer so venison was definitely on the first Thanksgiving menu and not turkey. Additionally, pilgrims during the 1600’s did not have any modern Thanksgiving items that are currently on the Thanksgiving menu. This means, that instead of the modern items on the Thanksgiving menu like turkey or mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, they had roasted goose, lobster, corn, and codfish. Also noteworthy, Thanksgiving did not become a national holiday until the 19th century. Furthermore, the only reason Thanksgiving became a annual holiday is because of an
nimals, I think it's kind of gross, but I don’t have the commitment to say I'm a vegetarian. Anyway, I don't enjoy eating animals that much, it's just not for me but that's a personal problem. But that's the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes! So, there's one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don’t you just love good old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey's carcass? Ew! What? Why is that a thing? I don't need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the Thanksgiving meal that comes to mind is pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That's another one of those foods that I just don't like, I'm a picky eater, it's fine. So, I'll let everyone have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I'm not mad at them but my family gets a little upset at me when that's all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn't even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I'm not into it. Boom! Holiday ruined! I mean, if I'm going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse.
Each year the President of the United States pardons a turkey. This lucky turkey is guaranteed to spend the rest of its life living freely and not ending up on a turkey platter.
Turkey is located primarily in Asia, however, a small portion lands in Europe. The capital of Turkey is its second largest city, Ankara, with a population of just under five million. It covers an area of over 300,000 square miles, which is slightly bigger than the state of Texas. The Black Sea in the North and the Aegean Sea to the west surround the country of Turkey. The countries of Iraq and Syria are located to the South, with Greece and Bulgaria to the North. It is difficult to categorize the weather of Turkey in just one way. The climate along the coastal regions have a hot, dry summer, with wet winters, and temperatures that are cool. The climate in other locations throughout the country can get much colder with some snowfall during the winter months. Temperatures across the country range anywhere from 28 degrees in the winter, to temperatures in the 80s during the summer. The population of Turkey, according to a 2016 census, is just under 80 million, or twice as much as California. A
Popular myth among everyone is that turkey is very rich in tryptophan which when consumed during a Thanksgiving Day result in more than usual sleepiness and food coma. This is because tryptophan produces serotonin which is associated with relaxation and sleepiness. However, the amount of tryptophan present in turkey is similar to chicken, beef, and other meats. The quantity required to raise brain serotonin level cannot be achieved by eating servings of turkey.
