My decision to conclude that Edgar Allan Poe died from cooping was the right one because I will rationalize various theories and explanations of his death that will prove my decision is the correct one. Where he was found, the clothes he was wearing and how he disappeared right before his death will demonstrate why cooping is the correct decision. Several other documented theories of his death include: rabies, alcohol poisoning, brain tumor, epilepsy and congestion of the brain which was included on his death certificate. I decided that the possibility of rabies was improbable because due to the fact that there was no physical evidence of an animal bite or scratch. However, during my research I learned that once someone is contaminated with

Edgar Allan Poe was a sick man that went through a troubling life full of tragedies. For Poe to deal with this he drank and poured his feelings into his works. Honestly as horrible it is that he had to go through all of that we should be grateful because without his suffering these masterpieces wouldn’t have been fabricated. While intensifying his philosophy for short stories Edgar Allan Poe wrote “The Fall of the House of Usher” reflecting the characteristics of Dark Romantic Movement.

If one were to say that Edgar Allan Poe is a good writer, he or she is making an understatement of his work. He is one of the most critically acclaimed writers of all time. His stories have put him in a category of notoriety that also includes, Mark Twain, William Shakespeare, John Steinbeck, and Earnest Hemingway, just to name a few. Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. Poe, a son of an actor, never knew his parents very well because his father left early on, and his mother died early in his childhood. He went to live with the Allens, he made a bond that influenced him and his writing with Frances, the wife of John Allen. Poe went to the University of Virginia in 1826, but didn't receive enough funds from John Allen to continue, he then turned to gambling but only ended up in more debt.
When looking at a piece of literature through a psychological approach it is easy to apply Sigmund Freud’s theories of the id, ego, and superego, which focus on conscious and unconscious behavior. When analyzing many of Poe’s works, critics tend to look through a psychological lens. Specifically in Poe’s The Black Cat. Some critics believe that Poe’s alcoholism is reflected in the piece, but many, such as James W. Gargano “advised the tales readers to avoid the biographical pitfall of seeing Poe and the first-person narrator of The Black Cat as ‘identical literary twins’” (Piacentino 1). It is due to his childhood that Poe’s narrator in The Black Cat subconsciously places animals before humans, thus leading to him to murder his wife.
Poe's detective fiction or mystery fiction can best be felt in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is one of the best knows detectives in the history of literature. His fame can be spotted in the books that have been written and the movies that have been produced about Holmes. Poe's works were able to influence the author of the Sherlock Holmes series, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in which he based the character of Sherlock Holmes off of one of Poe's characters whose name was Dupin who was used in the mystery story The Murders in the Rue Morgue. The similarities between the two characters are quite grand. “Both are solitary men who prefer to live quietly in either isolation or in the company of one close companion.”(“Nineteenth Century Influenced Poe”). Both men also tend to shift to the bottom of their mysteries without a large amount of clues that other detective writers appear to have in their stories. The impact that Poe has had on authors and stories cannot be matched. His stories have provided a model for future authors to use, in the hope of growing the notoriety of mystery fiction or the horror genre.
Edgar Allan Poe is a very famous poet, mostly known for his poem, "The Raven." Yet, Edgar Allan Poe didn't have a joyful childhood. His mother and father died by the time he had turned three, and he was raised by John Allan and his wife, Frances Allan. Unfortuantly, the realationship he had with John Allan was rocky. Even though he went to good schools at the time, and was admitted to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, he was forced to leave after less than a year because he had bad debts and insufficient funding support from his foster father. His life goes on as he writes his first, second, and third collection of poems, and published them, while in the army, and of him marrying his cousin, who later dies, but that is all somewhat irrelevant to the anaylasis of his poem, "Alone." I say that because I believe that "Alone" is about Edgar Allan Poe's childhood, how he was raised in a foster family, and how he viewed it. To make the presentation of the information on how I came to this conclusion easier, I split the poem into two, even though the poem itself doesn't have any large, blank lines splitting it apart.
