Taking all these experiences into account, education has played a huge role in my life. Funnily enough, I owe my existence to education. I will admit that I haven’t always been motivated by academics. The lust for knowledge was never the sole driving factor for me attending the University like it was for my grandmother. Until very recently, I had no Idea what I wanted to do with life unlike my mom and dad. Both my parents pressed hard for my brother and me to go to college. Taking that into account I made a promise to myself that I would graduate college, because I do agree with what my mom said, “Higher education is a strong component in controlling one’s destiny”. Ideally, one day I’d like to be my own boss and higher education, I feel, is the best way of achieving this goal. When interviewing my grandmother and mother, many of their educational experiences when it came to primary education were very similar to mine. It seemed that not much has changed in the realm of primary education. The main differences I noticed was when it came to the higher level education. Both my mother and grandmother attended Brown University, a small liberal arts college on the East coast. The structure of the four-year program there was very different from what I’ve experienced at University of Colorado Boulder. They told me that Brown did not require general education courses, which allowed you to jump into what you wanted to initially focus on. Giving you the chance to pursue multiple
The struggles I’ve had to see my parents face because they were never able to have the education they would have liked to have for themselves, as well as Booker T. Washington’s struggles and triumph make me value education more. So although you might not see education doing something for you in the long run trust me we all need it and without it you will never have the chance to see all the opportunities that are out there in store for each
Education has been one of the ways I have been able to add competititive advantage in my personal life. Although there are other components critical to my personal success. These include: determination, willingness to learn, and dedication. Having a great job that reaps monetary rewards is great, however, there are other factors necessary to be successful. These include my value as a human being, what do I do for others, how I am with my family, who I am as a fiancé and
Through personal experience I have learned that an education does truly help you succeed in life. Growing up I have had a good education system and been able to push myself to learn. However, I have met some people who have not been as lucky as me. Around eight years ago, I was twelve years
Ever since I was a little girl my education has been something that I held very close to my heart. My family always explained education to me as something vital to a successful life and as something you couldn’t simply just do the bare minimum to get by. They always encouraged my learning and presented it in a fun, enjoyable way. To say the least, I took this lesson my family instilled in me very seriously. Because of this, I have spent the majority of my life doing the most I can and giving my best, hardest effort to become more knowledgeable about anything and everything around me.
Education, as I said earlier, gets you where you want to go. It is critical to me obtaining this degree and goal I have set for myself. I want to be an example to my five year old daughter of accomplishment and learning. Also, education has always been expected of me. My parents were both the first in their respective families to received post high school education. College was never an option for me – from the time I can remember college was what I would do after high school. Education has enabled me to formulate my
Education is vital, in fact the most important part of one’s life. Getting a higher education is very important in order to live in this world. Nelson Mandela, a politician, said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (BrainyQuote). When it comes to living a successful life, I live by this quote. I believe experience is something that will change one’s life. Throughout out our school career, we have experienced something that changed our lives in many ways. In life, we all know something that has changed the way we perceive people and events. The most meaningful events that have changed our perceptions can be the experiences that we have gone through and learned from. If we do not experience the world, we would not learn anything. Most importantly, we are affected by our experiences, which impacts our lives. We are experiencing so much and building our knowledge to get our degree. Yes education is a necessity in life, but there are other knowledge that we can learn from outside of school such as, from our family and the community that we live in.
Schooling is one aspect that keeps appearing in each one of my adult life phase chapters. My parents were a huge influence on me continuing in education. My dad was the driving force since he would constantly tell me how important an education is to a person. He used himself as an example since he never even made it to the high school level. He always stated that having a high school and college degree will open doors and opportunities for people to be successful. Furthermore, I saw how hard he worked at his blue collar job for over 40 hours a week on a little bit above minimum wage. Thus, the drive for me was to be better than my father. That is one of the reasons I'm trying to obtain my doctoral degree.
A country is only able to grow and prosper through the education of each successive generation. In essence, the quality of the education system defines the potential of future leaders. Without proper teaching each country could revert, fatal mistakes defining the economy, political climate, and general future of a country for decades. The importance of education is clear meaning no country is free of the scrutiny their education system will undergo; although, some countries have far exceeded expectations. Leaders in standardized testing such as Singapore and Japan have made the benchmark for other countries to strive after. In the United States a sense of pride accompanies the general belief that intelligence is high. Score results that
Since a very young age I understood the importance of having an education. Growing up in a very poor and undereducated neighborhood, I saw education as a way out as opposed to a waste of time. In a community where the educated were poor and the criminals were rich it was very easy to become distracted. I grew up with neither my mother nor father to look up to, as I was raised solely by my grandparents. So many obstacles only pushes me harder. I always looked to myself to be an inspiration to both my family and community that completing college and having a career isn’t as difficult as it may seem.
Most people will argue that college education in fields like traditional liberal arts and career-oriented subjects such as business, engineering and science is a stepping stone to success, and I agree because it provides one with broad knowledge, increased opportunities and greater potentials to succeed in life.

Education is a mandatory factor for human survival, without education we would not have communication or know how to accomplish anything. My educational experience has not been bad, and I am beyond thankful for all of it although there has been bumpy patches! There are a few encounters that impacted my life crucially. These encounters make it easy for me to explain why I can’t have the future I want without education. A very important step in your path to success is goal setting. For some people education is not as important to them after high school. We all have the option of college after receiving a diploma, however if teachers would discuss professions, majors and talk to the students more about setting long term goals the number of students entering college would increase. High school was a great time for me. Two major lessons, I learned, was first to set high goals and second to go after them. Never settle for less and do not let anything stop you. Time goes by fast so don’t waste it. Those two experiences have helped me out a lot in life and have set me up for life, which lead me to the theory that setting goals is important for accomplishing what you want in life. Advisors in high school don’t go over that as much as they should.
“Come on sweetie, you can do it!” These words have constantly been spoken to me ever since I was a child, and by my parents enforcing these words towards me they inspired me to achieve all that I am able too. In the Mexican culture there are many of us who yearn to learn new things yet there are many of our people who instead of lending a helping hand they thrust each other downward. With this key fact in mind I push myself to become an educated person with a degree so that I can prove to myself that if you want it you will get it. My family has always been very keen on education. One of my childhood memories is that of my father telling us “The only great inheritance I can leave you with is that of
Education has lasted throughout numerous situations and periods of time. It has undergone times of prejudice and racism, where only certain people had access to education. It has survived in times of neglect, when governmental budgets seemed to delegate money everywhere else but education. In general, education has survived many different situations and has come out vastly improved and better overall. Many things have contributed to the betterment of education. Education has adapted to include more people, it has improved in a multitude of ways, courtesy of technology, and it has grown in its technique of disciplining elementary students.
Two concepts are proposed in this paper for the purposes of societal cultivation and human growth. One, that the Arts are critical to human development the growth of society. And two, a practical approach at implementing arts education within the Fairbanks community without relying on public school system.
