An effective teacher is a pupil manager that can aid personalised learning and classroom interaction. They are someone who meets individual’s needs and reduces teacher dependency. They understand the concepts of learning. The successful teacher cares, the successful teacher teaches well and the successful teacher manages well (Marlands(1993, p.6-7). Graham et al. (2001) number one principle for an effective teacher is to encourage student-faculty contact. This stood out as it is a little absurd compared to other lists and descriptions of what teachers should be. However it does make sense, looking back at your school days you do associate a subject with a faculty and the efficiency of that faculty, especially at GCSE, AS and A level stages when you rely on those faculties the most. (2001) study showed that students that weren’t responded to quickly would feel ignored and faculty expectations would be decreased, showing a lack of trust and therefore wanting to learn by the subject.
