After choosing the type of book that had a great niche (cookbooks) I selected the type, for my first book I did simple and quick lunch recipes and 5 minute desserts. You want to select a specific niche in cookbooks, for example Christmas recipes, chili recipes, turkey recipes, 100 recipes with strawberry jelly, etc. however, you don’t want a book that has a ton of random recipes which have no correlation. Ever choosing the type just find online recipes and rewrite them and change the name, please note this is completely legal. See the copyright laws below
US copyright laws for recipes (Source):
“Copyright law does not protect recipes that are mere listings of ingredients. Nor does it protect other mere listings of ingredients such as those found in formulas, compounds, or prescriptions. Copyright protection may, however, extend to substantial literary expression—a description, explanation, or illustration, for example—that accompanies a recipe or formula or to a
In 1999, Amazon became a merchant platform by introducing zShop, “a new service that allows anyone to sell merchandise through its website”. (Moore, 1999) It not only creates extra revenue from the $9.99 monthly subscription fee from sellers but also “60 cents per transaction for payments made with 1-Click, as well as 4.75 percent of the final sale”. (Moore, 1999)
In 2010, Big Skinny CEO Kiril Alexandrov was looking to transcend from retail distribution and print advertising to the world of online marketing to achieve maximum growth. The retail sales pitch was an easy one, as Alexandrov focused on the value of the wallet and the impulsiveness of consumers (Benjamin & Kominers, 2012). Unfortunately, translating this type of sales pitch was much harder to do in the world of cyberspace.

In looking at the financial data, we see that CanGo is working hard and has positioned themselves well in the music, book and movies retail industry. This is evident as from December of 2008 to December of 2009, CanGo has managed to increase sales by 500%, with an increase in total revenues in excess of forty million dollars. In order to continue this growth and be a powerhouse in this industry CanGo will have to find a way to compete with companies such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple, eMusic and Wal-Mart. To do so, they need to look closer at the users that are the target audience. First, we need to realize that to grow, we need to shift consumers from buying from Amazon. Is because Amazon “dominates 65 percent of all new online book units, in both print and digital copies. They have the largest share of the e-book market as well, with 67 percent. As for print, Amazon controls 64 percent of sales of printed books online.” (Mosendz. 2014) This is telling as we know who we need to work against, but is also important to know that “Millennials, those consumers aged 18 to 34, remain the key age demographic for online commerce, spending more money online in a given year than any other age group.” (Smith, 2015)
Online commerce was introduced to consumers in the mid-1990’s, and in the years since, it has grown exponentially. It started out virtually nonexistent and has become a multi-billion dollar industry. Nearly every retail sector has entered online commerce; clothing, electronics, home, health and grooming items, even food and groceries are starting to gain traction online. Online commerce sites rival traditional brick and mortar stores such as Walmart and Target, as well as other big-box stores. As online retailers such as Amazon continue to expand, many brick and mortar stores have been making their way online, indicative of an increasing movement towards online commerce. With more than 80% of the online population having made an online
In my book, The Dream is Gone Economic: Survival in 21st Century America, I wrote about the need to expand your sources of income, so you are not dependent upon any single source. I gave a few examples of this in chapter 8, with an emphasis on making money online. In this book, I have gone into more detail about making money online, but only those opportunities that will cost you nothing but your time. The reason for this is that there are simply too many ways to lose money when attempting to make money on the Internet. You need to walk before you run.

Why is it so hard to sell my recipes? Somehow, monetizing recipes in the market has not developed well and still relies on rather traditional ways such as selling them to food magazines, starting a food blog, or entering contests. Why does selling my recipe have to be this hard and cumbersome? For this reason, lots of “hidden jewels (recipes)” that can generate huge profit have not even had opportunities to be introduced in the public and are just buried.
When it comes to publishing a book, you have to evaluate the best approach. Whether you're writing genre stories like science fiction, romantic comedy or non-fiction like business or self-help, you have to evaluate your self-publishing plan. Evaluating the approach helps you stay consistent through the process from writing the introduction to the ending and beyond. (There's more to self-publishing than writing the book! There IS a beyond.)
The Internet has changed the way we do virtually everything, including the way we shop. However, shopping is not the only thing that has changed. In the last decade we have changed the way, we apply for loans, study, and even plan a vacation. Doing any of these things would have been impossible a few decades ago. At present, online banking, paying bills, ordering new services, and shopping online have become part of our daily lives. Traditional brick-and-mortar stores have been around much longer than online stores, but we cannot deny that online shopping is giving the traditional stores competition. Many consumers still choose to shop at regular brick-and-mortar stores because they like to see and
Retailers have adapted to the online marketplace out of necessity and opportunity. The great recession placed many retail companies in financial hardship and while some failed, others innovated and became some of the largest companies in America such as Amazon. A recent trend is consumers are buying more products online than ever before. As a consumer, I enjoy shopping in the convenience of my home and having the items delivered to my doorstep in 48 hours or less. Global internet access continues to increase, with mobile devices and affordable internet for the home, consumers will continue to shift and buy products online rather than in retail brick and mortar locations. Online sales in the United States have increased over 250% in the last ten years, accomplishing $250.0 billion in 2012 (Tehrani, 2014). Therefore, Amazon is in a solid market position to capitalize on the future trends and booming ecommerce
